Happy Birthday 20
From your President
Congratulations to NGRA’s new Trustee-Elect As many of you know, NGRA held an election from late August through September 18th to pick our next Trustee. Congratulations to Lorry King who will start her new role as NGRA’s Trustee on January 1st. Lorry’s term will last three years, taking her through 2019. For the next few month’s Lorry will be able to “shadow” our current trustee to learn as much about the job as possible. We’re excited to have Lorry as our incoming trustee and look forward to her serving on the Board.
501(c)(3) Update I just wanted to provide a little update, regarding NGRA’s effort to become a 501(c)(3) organization, instead of the 501(c)(4) that we are currently. We’ve been working with a CPA Firm for approximately 6 months and about 3 months ago, we sent all the required forms to the IRS. At the time we sent the paperwork, we were told that the process could take anywhere from a few months to up to 2 years. A few weeks ago, we received a reply from the IRS. The reply wasn’t the approval we had hoped; instead, it was 4 questions that they wanted us to answer. We’ve provided that information — in great detail — to the CPA firm who is now drafting up the letter to go back to the IRS. I’m encouraged because now we at least know that the IRS is considering our package and hopefully that means the answer will be closer to a few months as opposed to a few years. As I said earlier, we provided quite a bit of information to the CPA firm so I’m comfortable they’ll be able to satisfactorily answer the IRS’ questions. At this point, it’s just a waiting game. If the 501(c)(3) is approved it will make it easier for other organizations to make donations to us, which, in turn, will make it easier for us to do more things and make more donations to our charitable partners. Keep your fingers crossed!! Ken Hruby, NGRA President [email protected]

NGRA 2017 Royalty Competition NGRA is proud to announce that, this year, we have four candidates competing for NGRA Royalty. Kendra Jaye Litter (aka Ken Wells) and Phat Patty (aka Chris Sanders) are competing to be Miss NGRA 2017. Jason Dyer and Brian Porras are competing to be Mr NGRA 2017. I have received all entry fees, verified residency requirements and checked IDs. All the contestants have attended the required number of Board and General Membership Meetings. Each contestant must raise $250 each, either alone or in conjunction with another contestant. Brian Porras has held two fundraisers: “Bear Necessities” and “Bearapalooza”, raising the necessary amount for his chosen charity, Soldiers' Angels. Kendra Jaye Litter (aka Ken Wells) held her fundraiser, “Kendra Jaye Litter & Friends: A Benefit Show”, raising the necessary amount for her chosen charity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Phat Patty (aka Chris Sanders) and Jason Dyer are holding two fundraisers: “The 1st Annual MuMu Party” on October 15th, and “With Respect, Honor & Dignity” on November 11th, for their chosen charity, The Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This year’s Royalty Competition will take place on Saturday, November 26th. As has been the case in previous years, it will be divided into two phases. Phase 1 will take place Saturday morning and Phase 2 will take place at Charlie’s later in the evening. Mark your calendars and we hope to see a lot of people to help cheer Kendra Jaye Litter, Phat Patty, Jason Dyer and Brian Porras as they compete for NGRA Royalty 2017. On behalf of the men and women of NGRA, we wish them the best of luck. Barry J Jones Royalty Competition Director [email protected]

Below are just some the pictures. Kendra says “I have to thank Nicholas Cenimo III (aka Miranda Wrights, past Empress of Connecticut) for emceeing my fundraiser tonight. Also Taylor Trash, Brian Porras, Troy Peter, Earl A Coffman, and my husband David Wells. And the members of the Board of directors that showed up tonight, Ken Hruby, Kathy Alday, Barry Jones (aka Miss Kitty), and Carolyn Jones. Your support means a lot to me. Mr NGRA 2017 Contestant Brian Porras Presents: Bearapalooza Flex Cocktail Lounge
Saturday, September 24th
Hello All! For those that do not know me, I am Brian Porras (aka BBear). I am a Contestant for Mr NGRA 2017. I have been working with NGRA for over 2 years now performing at events and helping sell shots, raffles and Beer Bust. I recently put on and hosted my two contestant shows, Bear Necessities in August and Bearapalooza at the end of the September. Thanks to all the help from my performers, friends and family, I raised $1650 for my charity of choice, Soldier's Angels. It has been great seeing support from the local community including the Imperial Royal Court, Sin Sity Sisters, Boys and Girls of Leather and LUC and Bears Las Vegas at these events. And at each event, the representative from Soldier's Angels was amazed to see all the people and how the money was being raised. She was more than happy to see her name and our name as NGRA getting out there more. This charity was there for me years ago during my time of service, and I wanted to find a way to give back to them and thank them for their time. “Soldiers' Angels has many wonderful programs to support our
military families, deployed service members, wounded service members and veterans. Our programs are broken into categories based on the population they serve. Soldiers' Angels offers programs for wounded, deployed, families, and others. Most of our programs could not be possible without the support of the wonderful Angels who dedicate their time, money and talents, to the organization.” For more information on their programs and services you can go to www.solidersangels.org.

From Your Volunteer Coordinator First I must thank all who turned up to help at Ride for Richard. I had many members offer but so many others had also volunteered that only a few of us were needed. Thanks to Lorry King and Bill Watson for manning a silent auction table and to Gary Segal for using his legendary charm and wit to sell cakes. Mind he had sampled so many he could personally recommend most of them. Many of you have asked about volunteering for BigHorn Rodeo again. Well I am pleased to be able to tell you that NGRA is hoping to hold the 2017 BigHorn rodeo towards the end of September. Exact dates to follow after IGRA approval We are still looking for folk to be involved with the Pride Float so get in touch if you want to help in any way. Helping in construction gets you a ride on the float. Volunteer Coordinator Carolyn Jones [email protected]
NGRA will be in the Pride Parade NGRA's Pride Committee will soon be having its first meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and help plan the float for this year's Pride Parade. If you are interested in helping or if you just have questions, please contact Matt Todd at [email protected].

From Your Royalty More randomness and thoughts of this Mr. Goodbye September and Hello October…which means Fall, pumpkin everything and of course Halloween. September has been an amazing time, turning 35…again, my event Whatever Happens, and everything going on around Vegas that I got to attend, when not running around as a Security Guard. My second show raised $600 more for the Sin Sity Sisters, which brought my total to $1,200 for the year. I would like to extend a huge Thank You to everyone that performed, donated items and helped me out that night, and to all the people who attended my event. It made my birthday a night I will never forget…for so many reasons. This makes 2 years running of a crazy birthday night, which is just my style. It is kind of scary, that is basically already October, and then November right around the corner. This year has flown by, and I am ready for what is coming. At least all the Halloween themes are one of the few times I can be considered normal.
Traci and I, are working on the November 5th show Drag Roulette, which we will be hosting together, benefiting BigHorn Rodeo. I could start my thank you section, but will save that for November. So here is to October and our Royalty Contestants! Let’s make this happen! Phil Lombardi Mr NGRA 2016 [email protected]
