Always keep
watching for
opportunities to
From the desk of Pastor Mike As we enter the month of October there are some wonderful things that we need
to consider. Just a few weeks ago I asked you to pray about our opportunity to partner
in beginning a Spanish language church. Since that time we (Bob Clark, chairman of
the deacons, Leo Reyes Spanish speaking deacon, Joyce Reynolds, Church
Administrator, Bob Lewis, the Director of Missions, and I, Pastor Mike) have met with
the Spanish team including Pastor Mario Juarez, Werner Cotto, the interpreter, and Pastor Tino Melgor.
The FSCC team agrees that this is an answer to prayer, and we should proceed with partnering with the
Spanish team to plant what would be Centro De Alabanza Siloe’. This translates to Siloe’ Praise Center. We
have been praying for this for a long time, but we still have a couple of steps to take. First, you, church need to
know what this means. We will be sharing our facilities including the worship center, kitchen, classrooms and
the fellowship hall. The church plant will pay their share of costs, which at this time are still being determined.
We will have to coordinate calendars and schedules.
Second, none of this will happen until you prayerfully approve it at the October 13th business meeting when
we will answer as many of your other questions as we can. At this time FSCC will not be financially supporting
this church plant in any way. However, the California Southern Baptist Convention has agreed to support the
work financially, if CDAS, the Centro De Alabanza Siloe’, agrees to affiliate with the Southern Baptist
convention. All of us must remember that we are the family of God and like any family there will be times of
celebration and times of conflict. In every instance we must respond with the love of Christ, extending grace
from one family member to another.
One more cause for celebration. F.A.S.T. Kids has had a great start. Please keep those who are working
with our great kids in your prayers and that they will be able to lead them into a real relationship with Christ.
Remember, kids can be messy. Have patience and love because they need us.
Finally, there is a real personality out there who is bent on destroying the kingdom of God. You know him so
be on guard. As God blesses and grows his church the opposer will look for ways to cause conflicts in the body.
Don’t fall prey to these temptations but stay focused on Christ and His purpose for you and His church.
Take every opportunity to Show His love & Tell His story because God loves you, and so does your pastor.
Think about that,
Pastor Mike
