From Our Administrator

On the first of November we celebrate All Saints day, a holy day of

obligation. This day reminds us of all souls that have entered into heaven.

Sometimes we think that a saint is someone who is canonized by the church and

then has a statue made in their likeness. Any person who is in heaven is a saint! We

have been called by Christ to be saints, because of this calling in our earthly we

must work diligently in order to grow in holiness. God wants us to be with him

forever in heaven to enjoy the fullness of his glory. Prior to entering into heaven we

have to undergo a period of purification.

We begin the month of November with the celebration of all saints to give us

hope and to remind us that our final destination is heaven where we will be saints.

November is a month when we rejoice for the souls that are in heaven and we pray

for the souls that are in the process of purification in purgatory. The Catechism of

the Catholic Church tells us, “All who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still

imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death

they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of

heaven.” (CCC #1030) These souls are in need of our help in order to arrive in

heaven. During the month of November the Catholic Church reminds us of the

importance of praying for the souls of all the dead. Praying for the souls of the dead

is a work of charity and our prayers have to power to speed their souls to heaven.

The sacred scriptures remind us of the importance of praying for the dead. We see

this in the second book of Maccabees. Judas Maccabeus offered atonement for the

dead. (2 Macc 12:46) We should never forget to pray for the souls of the dead they

need our prayers.

It is also a great work of charity to offer the holy sacrifice of the Mass for the

benefit of our dearly beloved departed. The Mass is the most powerful prayer that

we posses. “The church has honored the memory of the dead and offered prayers in

suffrage for them, above all the Eucharistic sacrifice, so that, thus purified, they

may attain the beatific vision of God. The Church also commends almsgiving,

indulgence, and works of penance on behalf of the dead.” (CCC #1032)

During this month let us always remember to pray for our dearly beloved

departed that they may become saints and enjoy the beatific vision for all eternity.

De Nuestro Administrador

En el primer de Noviembre celebramos el día de todos los Santos, un día de

precepto. Este día recordamos todos los que han entrando en el cielo. A veces

pensamos que los santos son personas canonizado por la iglesia Catolica. Cualquier

persona que está en el cielo es un santo. Jesús nos llama ser santos, por esta razon

en nuestra vida terrenal tenemos que trabajar muy duro para avanzar en santidad.

Dios quiere que estaremos con él en el cielo para disfrutar la penitud de su gloria.

Para ganar las riquezas de la vida eterna tenemos que ser purificados.

Comenzamos el mes de Noviembre con la celebración de todos los santos

para darnos esperanza, recordandonos que nuestro destino final es el cielo donde

estaremos santos. Noviembre es un mes cuando nos regociamos por todas las almas

que están en el cielo y rezamos por todas las almas que están en el proceso de

purificación, en el purgatorio. El Catecismo de la iglesia Catolica dice, “Los que

mueren en la gracia y en la Amistad de Dios, pero imperfectamente purificados,

aunque están seguros de su eterna salvación sufren después de la muerte una

purificación, a fin de obtener la santidad necesaria para entrar en la alegría del

cielo.” (Catechsimo de la Iglesia Catolica #1030) Estas almas necesitan nuestra

ayuda para llegar en el cielo. En el mes de Noviembre la iglesia Catolica nos

recuerda de la importancia de orar por las almas de todos los difuntos. Orando por

todos los difuntos es una obra de caridad y nuestras oraciones tiene el poder de

acelerar el alma al cielo. Las sagradas escrituras menciona la practica de orar por los

difuntos, lo vemos en el libro de 2 Macabeos, Judas Macabeos ofrecio expiación por

los difuntos. (2 Macabeos 12:46) Nunca debemos olividarnos de la importancia de

orar por los difuntos,

También ofrecemos el sacrificio de la santa Misa por el beneficio por

nuestros queridos hermanos difuntos, porque la misa es la oración más poderosa.

“La iglesia ha honorado la memoria de los difuntos y ha ofrecido sufragios en su

favor, en particular el sacrifcio eucarístico, para que, una vez purificados, puedan

llegar a la vision beatífica de Dios. La Igleisa también recomienda la limosnas, las

indulgensias, y las obras de penitencia en favor de los difuntos.” (Catecismo de La

Igleisa Catolica) Durante el mes del Noviembre recordemos orar para todos los

fieles difuntos para que disfruten la visión beatifica por siempre.

COMMERMORATION OF ALL SOULS

On this day, we pray that all those who have died - our loved ones, and also those people around the

world who we will never meet. We offer a prayer for their eternal rest.

Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen

All parishioners are invited to bring a photo (in a picture frame) of a loved one who has passed away and place it on the table in the sanctuary of the lower church during the month of November. All month we will pray that they may be with the Lord in Eternal Life. Please write your name and phone number on the back of the picture frame.

En este día, oramos para que todos aquellos que han muerto, nuestros seres queridos, y también aquellas personas en todo el mundo a quienes nunca conoceremos. Ofrecemos una oración por su eterno descanso.

Descanso eterno, concédeles, oh Señor, Y deja que la luz perpetua brille sobre ellos.

Todos los feligreses están invitados a traer una foto (en el cuadro) de un ser querido que falleció y

colocarla sobre la mesa en el santuario de la iglesia de abajo durante el mes de Noviembre. Todo el mes vamos a orar para que puedan estar con el Señor en

RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults New Classes forming in St. John Chrisostom Parish for Fall 2018 RCIA is a process for adults

who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith leading to becoming a member of

the Catholic Church. Baptized Catholics who have not yet received the sacraments of Holy

Eucharist and /or Confirmation are welcome to complete their preparation for the sacraments of

initiation through participation in the RCIA process. The sacraments will administered at the

Easter Vigil which is on April 20, 2019. If you are tinerested in becoming a Catholic or

completing your sacraments of initiation please contact

Fr. Richard Marrano or Fr. Amable at 718-542-6164 or pass by

the rectory for an appointment. Classes are available in Spanish and English.

The Fee Is $50 Per Person or $75 Per Couple CLASSES IN ENGLISH EVERY

TUESDAYS AT 7PM IN THE RECTORY.

RICA: Rito de Iniciacion Cristiana para Adultos Estamos en el proceso de formación de clases para el Otoño 2019. RICA es un proceso para

adultos que están interesados en aprender mas acerca de la fe católica para llegar a ser miembro

de la Iglesia Catolica. Catolicos bautizados que no han recibido los sacramentos de Primera

Comunion y La Confirmacion están invitados a competer su preparación para los sacramentos

de Iniciacion a través del proceso de RICA. Los sacramentos serán administrados durante la
