Technology - A Tool for Ministry and God'sKingdom

Lutheran Church Charities Announces Our FirstTechnology Conference/Roundtable - FREE

Thursday, October 2111:00am - 1:00pmSeegers Center, Addison, Illinois

Ever wonder what would have happened if the Apostle Paul had available to him thetechnology we have today? The Letters to the churches would have been broadcastemailed - and just imagine the "reply all" responses! The Apostle could have had a blogwhere doctrinal concerns and questions were debated. Who knows, the Apostle Paulmay even have written a daily "Paul's Theological Lesson for the Day".

Well, maybe it's better that he didn't have the option, but the use of technology is here tostay - the good, the bad, and sad to say, the ugly.

Looking for Ways to Share the Mercy andCompassion of Christ to Those in Your Churchand Community? We are in hard economic times. "Times areterrible" many say. But just think what ablessing God has given us to share the Mercyand Compassion of Christ! The door is wideopen for the Church to be the Church. Jesusshowed us by his life that we are to be thechurch that "Does Feet" (John 13).

People say that they would "do" evangelism, they would reach out to people in need, but theirchurch simply does not have the money right now to do it, things are tight! DearChristian brothers and sisters, it doesn't take money to touch those in need and pain - ittakes you and your willingness to follow Jesus' example.

If you would like a staff member of LCC to come out and share ways for you and yourchurch to reach your members and community with the Mercy and Compassion of Christ- without money - contact us at 866-455-6466 or [email protected] We would be more than happy to come andwork with you! By the way, we can even bring our K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs with us.This also will NOT cost you!

Several Immediate Ways to Help Our Churches inHaiti

Motorcycles Needed to Help Pastors in Haiti Spread theGospel

When Tim Hetzner traveled to Haiti in March 2010 hepurchased several motorcycles for the pastors to use fortransportation. Because of the terrible condition of theroads, motorcycles are the most efficient means oftransportation for many of the pastors who must travelmany miles between the different churches that they serveand to get to their members.

More motorcycles aredesperately needed. Anew motorcycle costs$1,000 and is animportant tool that helpsthe pastors to minister totheir members andspread the Gospelthroughout Haiti. Pictured are two pastors that have been helpedbecause of your support.

Malaria Initiative`Malaria Initiative' is a non-profit corporation formed by Susan Busse M.D., ThomasHesselink M.D., and John Peterson, to bring spiritual and medical treatment to thosesuffering from Malaria, working with Lutheran Church Charities.

A treatment of acidified sodium chlorite at a cost of lessthan $00.01 USD. per dose has proven to be verypromising in preliminary laboratory and field trials. Wehave been working in Uganda, Sierria Leone, Ethiopia, and Ghana to improve our working relationship in thesecountries to further the treatment of Malaria using thisparticular treatment. Our goal is to spread the Messageof Christ and bring a useful and inexpensive treatmentfor Malaria; Malaria being the number one infectiouskiller world wide.

We are currently working at gathering more scientificdata from sites that have Malaria patients, to track themalong with their progress, and to document the results ofthe treatments so we can publish in medical journals. We are supporting a PhD. student doing thesis work atWestern Michigan University on this promising

treatment.

Malaria Initiative is looking to get help financing the above stated goals so they maytravel to train personnel and fulfill all our commitments. The three principals have takenno payment for their services, all have volunteered their services and funded much of thecosts out of pocket along with donations from generous donors.

When The Game Is Over It All Goes Back In The BoxBy John Ortberg

A promotion. A new house. The rewards of winning at lifesgame can be thrilling. But eventually everything goes backinto the box, and what ultimately matters is whether weveplayed according to Gods rules. John Ortberg uses populargames and his trademark gift of storytelling to help us liveour lives for the things that really count.

LCC Emergency Assistance FundLCC gets requests daily concerning people who needassistance, and it is increasing because of the currenteconomic times we are living in.

LCC works through our churches to provide assistance bymaking the need known - and dollar per dollar we give themoney to a church to help the family or individual. However,we receive some requests that are emergencies, andmoney is needed that day or the next day and we can'talways get the need out in our weekly email newsletter first.

Would you consider making a gift to our LCC EmergencyAssistance fund so that when these emergency needsoccur we can help (through our churches) quicker? This isan important way for the Body of Christ to share the Mercy

and Compassion and Proclamation of Christ.
