A MESSAGE FOR YOU

St. Peregrine Sculpture

Our courtyard is still waiting for the St. Peregrine sculpture to be installed between our main church and the St. Peregrine shrine. The base upon which the sculpture will stand is already in place. Last September 15, 2017, on the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, parishioner Henry Armstrong and I had the opportunity to visit George Michael Myers, the sculptor, in Prescott. We got to his house, surrounded by trees and serenaded by cicadas, thus prompting Michael to talk about flora and fauna and to look for some cicada shells, which scientists call “exuviae,” the shed skins that remain behind when the insect molts from the nymph stage into an adult. Then Michael went on to tell us the different stages of the making of the sculpture, after he had the small model approved by the committee. He sculpted a life-size original in oil clay, which is made up of soft waxes and oils mixed with clay dust and no water. Then he made molds of the oil clay original. The molds are two layered. The first is a flexible silicon painted, on a quarter inch thick, that is an impression of the original. Then that is backed with a quarter inch thick rigid fiberglass "mother mold,” that holds the rubber rigid. These two parts are taken off of the original clay. Then, a hot liquid hard wax is painted into the rubber mold at a thickness of a quarter inch to form a hollow version of the original - kind of like a big hollow wax chocolate Easter bunny. This is the stage where our project is at this time. The waxes are taken to the bronze foundry to undergo the "Lost Wax Process". In this process, the waxes are coated and surrounded by a one-time refractory shell mold. This one time mold is put in a very hot oven and the wax is melted out. The resulting cave left by the lost wax is filled with 2000 degree liquid bronze that pours like orange thick water that completely fills the cave. After cooling the bronze parts will be welded together and chased (ground and blended). Finally, a patina finish is added. This process, Michael said, will be about two more months. It was fun to see Michael and share a meal with him, Henry Armstrong, Henry’s daughter, Teresa, and her husband, John, and their smart daughter, Olivia, who turned 5 on that day. Let us include Michael and his works in our prayers, especially during this month of the Holy Rosary, in addition to our 54-day novena prayer intentions that he will be able to finish the project smoothly and free from any accident. This project requires more skill, craftsmanship (or Greek word “Tekne”) and brawn in order to produce a beautiful piece of art. God Bless, Fr. Rolyn B. Francisco Parrochial Administrator

—Isaiah 5:1-7 —Philippians 4:6-9 —Matthew 21:33-43

Cf. Est 4: 17 Within your will, O Lord, all things are established, and there is none that can resist your will.

For you have made all things, the heaven and the earth, and all that is held within the circle of heaven; you are the Lord of all.

Lord of all creation, of water, earth and sky, The heavens are Your tabernacle; glory to the Lord on high.

God of wonders beyond our galaxy You are holy, holy; The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy;

Lord of heaven and earth, Lord of heaven and Earth.

Early in the morning, I will celebrate the light. When I stumble in the darkness, I will call Your name by night.

Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth

Find us ready, Lord, not standing still. Find us working and loving and doing Your will. Find us ready, Lord, faithful in love. Building the kingdom, that's here and above. Building the kingdom of mercy and love.

We must wait for the Lord, for we know not the time. So here and today, we gather and pray, discovering love in our midst.

We must make straight the path. God's love revealed. With sin cast aside, God's mercy alive, fear not for here is your God.

Lifting up those bowed down, we prepare for our God. Rejoice in the Lord, for hope has been born, in hearts where our God finds a home.

Saying "yes" to the Lord, God's will shall be done. With hearts free from fear, salvation is near, for all things have hope with our God!

Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that you are present in this Blessed Sacrament as true God and true Man, with your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. My Redeemer and my Judge,

I adore your Divine Majesty together with the angels and saints. I believe, O Lord; increase my faith.

Cf. 1 Cor 10: 17 Though many, we are one bread, one body, for we all partake of the one Bread and one Chalice.

Text: Edwin Hatch Music: ST. COLUMBA

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, fill me with life anew,

that I may love the things You love, and do what You would do.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, until my heart is pure,

until my will is one with yours, to do and to endure.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, my will to Yours incline,

Until this selfish part of me glows with Thy fire divine.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, so shall I never die,

But live with You the perfect life for all eternity.

You’re my Prince of Peace and I will live my life for You.

You are holy (echo)… You are mighty…You are worthy… Worthy of praise… I will follow… I will listen… I will love You… All of my days…

Men: I will sing to and worship the King Who is worthy.

I will love Him and adore Him, I will bow down before Him.

I will sing to and worship the King Who is worthy. I will love Him and adore Him, I will bow down before Him.

Women: You are Lord of Lords, You are King of Kings,

You are Mighty God, Lord of everything. You’re Emmanuel, You’re the Great I Am,

You’re my Prince of Peace, Who is the Lamb. You’re the Living God, You’re my Saving Grace, You will reign forever, You are ancient of days.

You are Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End. You are Savior, Messiah, Redeemer and Friend.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all. One cup of blessing, which we bless. And we, though many, throughout the earth, We are one body in this one Lord.

Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man no more.

Many the gifts, many the works, one in the Lord of all.

Grain for the fields, scattered and grown, gathered to one, for all.

Tom Booth © 2016

I was hungry, and you gave me, all that I was hungry for.

I was thirsty, and you gave me, all that I was thirsting for.

I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.

I was naked, and you clothed me, with mercy and dignity

Sick and broken, and you gave me, your time and your listening

I was in prison and you came to me.

Feed my lambs, if you love me. Tend my sheep, if you love me.

Persecuted, tired and homeless, no where to lay my head

Man and woman, child and aged, with no one to call a friend.

I was lost, and you rescued me.

When did we see you, hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes?

When were you naked, sick or imprisoned, when did we not visit you?

Whatever you did to the least of these, whatever you did to the least of these,

you did to me.

Feed my lambs, if you love me. Tend my sheep, if you love me. Feed my sheep, if you love me.

I am hungry, I am thirsty, I am a stranger, I am naked,

I am sick, I am in prison, persecuted … and you welcomed me.
