Ringing of the Church Bell

“From One Seed” written for our theme: Growing in God’s Love

words and music by David H. Connell

Let your light shine before others,

so that they may see your good works

and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Call to Worship Leader: God sends light to us this day and invites us to meet one another in this light.

People: Light breaks forth like the dawn, drawing us into relationship with one another.

Leader: Humble yourselves for the worship of God, that you may be empowered to serve and

give thanks to God.

People: God calls us to trust with steady hearts and to serve with righteous compassion.

Leader: Seek not for lofty words of wisdom, but for powerful demonstrations of God’s way.

People: God makes us to be the salt of the earth and lights to show God’s works to the

world.

Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be

done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

Stewardship Moment

Music Makers Songs “Oh, We Give Thanks” Wendy Perkins

Oh, we give thanks...for this precious day...for those gathered here...and those far away...

for the time we share...with love and care...oh, we give thanks...for this precious day!

“Blessed” (The Beatitudes) Scott Malchow

You are the light of the world...a city on top of a hill...let your light shine brightly now...

always seeking God’s will...always seeking God’s will!

Children’s Sermon The children will leave at this time for Discovery Hour.

*Hymn No. 400 “When We Are Living” (We Belong to God) SOMOS DEL SEÑOR

Scripture Readings Unison Psalm 111 (NRSV)

1Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart

in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

2Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.

3Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

4He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the Lord is gracious and merciful.

5He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.

6He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.

7The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.

8They are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

9He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever.

Holy and awesome is his name. 10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

Luke 17: 11 - 19 (MSG)

11-13 It happened that as he made his way toward Jerusalem, he crossed over the border between

Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men, all lepers, met him. They kept their distance but

raised their voices, calling out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14-16

Taking a good look at them, he

said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” They went, and while still on their way, became clean. One

of them, when he realized that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude,

glorifying God. He kneeled at Jesus’ feet, so grateful. He couldn’t thank him enough—and he was a

Samaritan. 17-19

Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back

and give glory to God except this outsider?” Then he said to him, “Get up. On your way. Your faith

has healed and saved you.”

Welcome Visitors!

We are delighted to have you joining us here at Norfield today!

Please let us know if you have additional questions, or require further assistance. Do not hesitate

to ask one of our greeters or ushers, a deacon (identified by name badges), or one of our ministers.

Please also take a moment to fill out a nametag for yourself so we can greet you by name.

Infant and toddler care is available in the lower level of the Christian Education

Building. An usher can direct you. You can also see and hear the service in the Greene

Room if you need to.

A Children’s sermon is shared most Sundays and all children are invited to come to

the front of the altar and join us.

Norfield’s Church School, called Discovery Hour, meets during the service. Children

leave after the Children’s Sermon, accompanied by their teachers. All children are

welcome and encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not necessary. Children can then

be picked up following the service at the Christian Education Building. Please ask us

for directions.

Hearing Assistance System amplifiers are available. Please speak with an usher if

you would like to use one.

Prayer Cards are located in the pew racks. If you have a prayer request, please fill one

out and place it in the offering plate or give it to a minister. We pray over these

concerns each week.

Please fill in your address and any questions you might have on the back of one of

the Prayer Cards in the pews, and then put the card in the offering plate or give it to a

minister.

Please join us, following the service, for coffee hour in the Parish Hall so we can

welcome you personally and introduce ourselves.

Please visit our website at www.norfield.org for more information, and for updates on church

activities and service schedules, view our online Google calendar also located on our website.

Let it Start in Me- Participating in the Annual Pledge Drive

All shall give as they are able, according to the blessing of

the Lord your God that he has given you. Deuteronomy 16:17

Our most important goal for this Stewardship season is 100% participation from ALL of our Norfield

families. Thank you to the 23% who have pledged in our first two weeks! Your pledge, no matter the

size, is what matters most! All of our gifts add up to make a BIG difference in Norfield's mission and

efforts to be the hands and face of Jesus in our community.

Did you know that the average pledge to Norfield was $4,020 last year?

If you can pledge $1 per day, that’s a $365 annual pledge! A $1 per week? That’s $52 for the year.

There are three easy ways to make your pledge;

1) Pledge (and autopay if you wish) at www.norfield.org/pledge

2) Send your confidential e-pledge to [email protected]

3) Turn in your paper pledge card to the church office or put it the Sunday offering plate

We look forward to hearing from you.

Many blessings,

The Stewardship Ministry Team

Music Makers Ministry – Join Us on Wednesdays, BUT NOT THIS ONE!

This Wednesday, Weston Schools are on a break for the High Holy Days, so there will NOT be

Music Makers Ministry and Youth Fellowship. Join us next time!

Children from toddlers through the sixth grade are invited to be part of our wonderful Wednesdays.

Those coming from the Intermediate School can take Bus 3 (sign up with the dismissal manager);

WES children need a parent’s note to take Bus 3. We welcome the kids in the PARISH HALL with

a hearty snack and activities from 3:30 on, with the music program beginning at 4:00 each week.

Music Makers Ministry includes activities, instruments and singing as the children learn and grow

together, getting ready to sing and play for worship, present pageants and plays, and enjoy Christian

fellowship across age groups. We end with a community supper all together in the Parish Hall at

5:15. There is a Youth Fellowship gathering from 5:45 to 6:30 for Grade 3 and older!

Parents who are interested in Music Makers Ministry should give David Connell a call at the church

office (extension 3) or send an email to [email protected].
