Camo Critters
Tuesday, October 6, 11am – Noon
Learn all about the amazing ways our neighbors
in nature can hide in plain sight. Play a fun
camouflage game and go on a nature walk to
look for camo critters!
Turkey Tales
Tuesday, November 3, 11 am – Noon
It's turkey time here at Crowder. Join us as we
explore turkey tales, stories and songs. Learn
how to ruffle your feathers and practice your
best call. Then go on a turkey trot.
Pine Tree Party
Tuesday, December 8, 11 am – Noon
It's a party at Crowder and who is our guest of
honor? Pine Trees! Bring your family down to the
park as we explore our evergreen friends through
binoculars, magnifying glasses and our own eyes.
See what animals call these pine giants home
and how they help the habitat.

Spooky Spiders
Friday, October 16, 6– 7 pm
Did you know there are over 40,000 different species
of spiders! Join us as we explore a few arachnids
found in our park as we sniff out these 8 legged
creatures. Learn how and why spiders build webs and
then make a fun craft about these creepy critters.
Seasonal Scavenger Hunt
Friday, November 13, 5– 6 pm
Scavenger hunts are a great way to explore the park
in a new way! Bring the whole family and enjoy a
crisp autumn night searching for clues focused on
nature and night time critters. Sip on hot apple
cider and make a fall craft.
The Winter Sky
Friday, December 4, 4:30– 5:30 pm
Winter is a great season to gaze at stars! Learn
your way around winter's constellations, enjoy hot
cocoa, and learn about the mysterious night sky.
Use our binoculars or bring your own pair but
make sure you bundle up 'cause it's cold outside!

Pumpkin Time
Sunday, October 25
2– 3 pm
Explore the uses of pumpkins,
past and present, then study
pumpkins inside and out. Where
do they come from? How do they
grow? Will they float? Find
out and paint a small pumpkin
to take home.
Giving Thanks
Sunday, November 15
2– 3 pm
November is a time to be thankful!
Celebrate the natural world and
where our favorite Thanksgiving
foods come from. Investigate corn
under microscopes and hand lenses,
learn the difference between fruits
and veggies, and make a craft.
Winter Wrap Up
Sunday, December 13
2– 3 pm
Winter is a great time to explore
nature! Join a naturalist & learn how
to identify tracks, explore conifers,
and drink pine needle tea. Then
observe snow & ice through hands-
on science experiments. Don't forget
to bring your scarf and mittens!
Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
Wednesday, October 7, 11 am– Noon
Wild animals are masters of
disguise and pros at incredible
disappearing acts. Find out how
and why our friends in nature
are so good at blending in! Try a few experiments,
go on a hike and play some games as we search
for camouflaged critters!
Talkin' Turkeys
Wednesday, November 4, 11 am– Noon
Believe it or not, turkeys are really smart. Think
you're smarter than a turkey? Join us for some
challenging games to find out! Learn all about the
lives of wild turkeys, their habitat and what they
like to eat, then snack on your own turkey treat.
Evergreen Trees
Wednesday, December 9, 11 am– Noon
Do you know why pine trees are called evergreens?
Because they are green all year long! Come learn
about the parts and life cycle of trees, their
importance in our habitat to both people and
wildlife, and sip on some pine needle tea!
Nature's Hide and Seek
Wednesday, October 7, 1– 2 pm
Look closely and discover how animals play hide
and seek. Play games, read a story and make a camo
craft to learn about how and why animals blend in
with their surroundings in nature. Go on a nature hike
and find out how many hidden creatures we can see!
Gobble Gobble
Wednesday, November 4, 1– 2 pm
Wild Turkeys are smart and fascinating birds. No
wonder they were almost chosen as our national
mascot. Come learn some feathery facts, read a
story and make a terrific turkey craft.
Forever Green
Wednesday, December 9, 1– 2 pm
How do pine trees stay so green when it is so cold
outside? Who loves to live in evergreens during
winter? We will explore the answers to these and
other questions using our five senses during a winter
stroll around the park and by doing an art project.
We will also read "The Sheltering Cedar" by
local author Anne Marshall Runyon.
Nature Friends
Explore the natural world through hikes, nature
activities, outdoor exploration, games and crafts.
Meet at the Park Pavilion. For ages 6-9. Fee: $4/Child.
Preregistration is required.

Monday, October 5
10:30– 11:00 am
Explore bugs of different colors
and shapes! Count the number
of legs spiders & beetles have!
Then go on a bug safari!
Leaves in Nature
Monday, November 2
10:30– 11:00 am
Red, yellow, orange and brown -
leaves come in all different sizes and
colors. Practice your color and shape
recognition through hands-on
centers. Then collect leaves that
have fallen in the park!
Special Event:
Canine Contests!
Sunday, October 11
1:30– 3:30 pm
We're looking for the best dog
tricks and canine costumes in
Wake County! If your dog has a
special talent and/or a super
cool costume, come and
show us during this afternoon
of fun. For all ages; FREE.

Tiny Tots
A half-hour weekday program for children ages 18 months to 3 years old,
with an accompanying adult; fee: $2/child. Preregistration is required.

Colorful leaves, neat twigs and unique
seed pods - trees make great art supplies.
Learn the parts of a tree, then create festive
fall crafts using natural objects. For all ages;
