Former Charlotte Observer religion editor Ken Garfield will lead us in a workshop on obituaries – how to write them in a way that celebrates our life and legacy.
He’ll lead this informal session, walking us through the process of preparing these important pieces in advance. Ken will cover such issues as choosing the right photograph, the cost of running an obituary in the newspaper, and how to make sure the piece captures the essence of the life well lived. There will be plenty of time for questions, and handouts will be available. Ken will share some of the obituaries he’s written, and how they came about. Ken has launched a ministry/business writing obituaries, details available at www.kengarfieldobits.com. His work was featured in Charlotte magazine. Ken serves as Director of Communications at Myers Park United Methodist Church.
