Dear Friends, Once again, it is time to usher in a new season as we say good-bye to summer.
Autumn is a wonderful time of year, especially in the beautiful area we live in.
Please mark your calendars for the Fall Gala/Virginia Kane Senior Citizens
Hall of Fame Award Luncheon on Friday, October 19. Tickets are $10.00 and
are available at the front desk until Friday, October 6. Doors open at 10:30. We are very
excited to announce the 2018 nominees for the Virginia Kane Senior Citizens Hall of Fame
Award. They are Millie Schwab, Newcomerstown; Machelle Miller, Dover; Connie Fenton,
New Philadelphia; Tony Contini, Dover; Martha Parker, Port Washington and Charlotte
Barnhart, Sugarcreek. These outstanding individuals have given so much back to their
communities. The 2018 Hall of Fame winner will be announced at the luncheon. I hope you will
join us as we celebrate and recognize this outstanding group of nominees. Many thanks to the
2018 Fall Gala Committee: Pat Warther, Robin Mackey, Yvette Schupbach, Matt Kinsey,
Vicki Yates and Bob Hall.
Many thanks to Ron McWilliams for reorganizing our library. It was a
“family affair” - his children and grandchildren came in to provide
support and assistance. Jim Gill, Director of the Dover Library, donated
three nice bookshelves and we had the floor waxed so there was lots of
moving of shelves and books.
Medicare Open Enrollment is quickly approaching. The open enrollment for Medicare
Part D runs Monday, October 15, 2018 to Friday, December 7, 2018. Contact Carla here at the
Senior Center to make an appointment. Carla will help you understand the different plans
available and which one fits your situation the best.
The Senior Center continues to grow with new members and new programs! On behalf of all
the staff and volunteers we are happy to serve you. Contact us if you have any suggestions on
ways we can improve our services or new programs you would like to see us offer.
Sincerely,
Pam Ferrell
