· Swim Team will be hosting its first Spaghetti Dinner on November 4th in the Cafeteria at 5pm. Tickets, which are $4 for students, can be purchased in M207!! Do not miss out on this super fun event!!

Student pictures for grades 9-11 will be taken Monday, November 5. Teachers have been emailed the schedule, so please review with students.

· The ASVAB will be given at White Station on November 8th. If you are interested in taking the military entrance exam, you may sign up in Mrs. Brown-Malone, the counselor's office. 

· If you are a teen who finds yourself asking this question often and you want to make a difference in the Memphis community, the Youth Ignite Memphis Summit is for you. At Youth Ignite Memphis, eight youth presenters get five minutes to pitch solutions on how to make Memphis a better place for all young people. Youth audience members will then vote on which ideas they would like to see funded. This is YOUR chance to have your voice validated, respected, and funded for YOUR generation. Applications can be filled out in the Guidance office and are due no later than November 12th. See Senior, Kierrynie Todd, for any questions.

· Seniors are reminded of the Southwest Tennessee Community College free application in the library FRIDAY from 9am-1pm, the FAFSA Overview Night November 13 at 6pm in the library.

· The Southern College of Optometry’s MobilEYES Unit will be here on Friday, November 16th to provide free eye exams to any student in need.  If you need assistance, please let a teacher know so that they can identify you in the system and connect you with this program

· Seniors... the deadline for the TN PROMISE application is November 1st Create an account and apply at www.tnpromise.gov.  See your Counselor for assistance. 

· BUS RIDERS must present a pre-printed bus pass to the bus driver when boarding the bus beginning Tuesday, November 13th. Drivers will begin issuing bus conduct notices for students without bus passes boarding in the AM and should leave students without bus passes on campus in the PM. The full capacity at which we are operating the majority of our buses requires all of us to be continuously vigilant regarding bus passes.

         Mr Insch's 1st through 4th Spanish classes please report to the cafeteria during the PSAT.

         Congratulations to the JROTC Marksmanship Team.  They won their first rifle match against Craigmont High School.  The teams members are Annaelle Pelletier, Daniel Causie, Nicholas Jeffers, and Alan Lopez. Nicholas Jeffers was the top shooter. Also, The Trunk or Treat event sponsored by JROTC  is cancelled.

         White Station JROTC will be holding a spirit night TODAY from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chick-Fil-A on Poplar. 20% of the proceeds will go towards the annual military ball, so support the Spartan battalion.

         A representative for the City of Memphis, MPLOY Summer Experience program that provides City of Memphis youth ages 14 to 22 with meaningful and rewarding summer work experiences will be on campus, TODAY in the cafeteria during all lunches.   Stop by the table to receive information regarding Youth Summer Experience program offers positions aligned with different career paths, where students learn soft-skills training, maintain entry-level positions, and complete internships.

· PSAT will be given tomorrow in all classrooms in the EAST ANNEX. Students taking the test tomorrow, please check with your English teacher today for your testing location and be ready to test at 7:15. Bring your calculator and number two pencils.Teachers in the east annex please review with your students where they should report tomorrow if they are not testing. The east annex will be completely closed during testing.

· White Station JROTC will be holding a spirit night on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chick-Fil-A on Poplar. 20% of the proceeds will go towards the annual military ball, so come out and support the Spartan battalion.

· A representative for the City of Memphis, MPLOY Summer Experience program that provides City of Memphis youth ages 14 to 22 with meaningful and rewarding summer work experiences will be on campus, WEDNESDAY in the cafeteria during all lunches.   Stop by the table to receive information regarding Youth Summer Experience program offers positions aligned with different career paths, where students learn soft-skills training, maintain entry-level positions, and complete internships.   

· The first BLOOD DRIVE of the year is FRIDAY in the senior gym lobby. You must be at least 16 to donate. Free snacks and a free t-shirt will be provided! Make sure to sign up for a time slot with an E-Board member during your lunch.

· The Humane Society Club has put up the its first pet of the week posters. This pet of the week is a dog named Zebo. He is a five-month old puppy that loves to play and cuddle. For more information, see the pet of the week posters.

· “Helping the Homeless from Head to Heel," a charitable arm of the AP Biology and DE Biology classes, is asking for donations of blankets, winter hats and gloves for the homeless in Memphis as the cold months approach. Please bring this items to Dr Madu's class at M134.

· Seniors are reminded of the Tennessee Promise Meeting October 26 at 7:30am in the auditorium, the Southwest Tennessee Community College free application in the library November 2 from 9am-1pm, the FAFSA Overview Night November 13 at 6pm in the library.

· Students wanting to apply to the Let’s Innovate through Education can go to www.litememphis.com/apply before November 1st.

· Swim Team will be hosting its first Spaghetti Dinner on November 4th in the Cafeteria at 5pm. Tickets, which are $4 for students, can be purchased in M207!! Do not miss out on this super fun event!!

· The ASVAB will be given at White Station on November 8th. If you are interested in taking the military entrance exam, you may sign up in Mrs. Brown-Malone, the counselor's office. 

· BUS RIDERS, please listen carefully. Beginning Tuesday, November 13th, current eligible bus riders will be required to present a pre-printed bus pass to the bus driver when boarding the bus. Temporary (hand-written) bus passes issued to eligible new or transfer students will be valid for a two-week period only. These temporary passes are to include the date issued at the bottom of the pass and initials of the school official issuing the pass.

Drivers will begin issuing bus conduct notices for students without bus passes boarding in the AM and should leave students without bus passes on campus in the PM. The full capacity at which we are operating the majority of our buses requires all of us to be continuously vigilant regarding bus passes.

· If you like public speaking and have much to say about issues you are passionate about then Ted Ed is great for you. Interest meeting is TODAY in the Library from 2:30-3:20. Come join and be in a place where your voice and input matters.

· If you are a poet or rapper, we are looking for you to participate in the 2019 White Station Black History Cypher. Tryouts are TODAY at 2:30 in Ms. R.Davis room (F222). Come prepared with 16 bars that are school appropriate.

· The SENIOR picnic will be November 9th from 9:00 – 1:00 in the senior gym. The students and staff had a ball last year and this year will be just as much fun!! The cost is $35.00 CASH per student and includes activities, food, and a t-shirt. Permission slips can be picked up in the student support office. The deadline to pay and turn in the permission slip is TODAY at 1:00…this deadline will not be extended!! Refunds will not be issued once payment is received.

· The Chinese Cultural Club will be having a meeting TODAY in Room E106, Ms. Seagraves room, from 2:30-3:30, where we'll be making and eating dumplings. Come out to meet new people and learn about Chinese cuisine.

· The Make A Wish Club will have a spirit day TOMORROW at Pizza Rev at 6450 Poplar Ave. The event will last from 10:30 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.  If you come to the event, please say you are there for the WSHS Make A Wish Club.  All volunteers need to email Mrs. Whittington and let her know what shift you plan to take.

· The writing center is OPEN!  Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 2:30 in M123 Mrs. Skoog’s room.  Please come close to 2:30 if you need help. 

· All seniors who plan to take the ACT on October 16 must sign up with their school counselors by MONDAY. If you have not scored a 21, it is required for you to take the senior retest.

· Auditions for the fall production of Shakespeare's MacBeth will be held MONDAY and TUESDAY, from 230-4 in the auditorium.   Those wishing to auditions should come ready to perform a one minute Shakespearean Monologue (ether memorized or read) . If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lawrence in the auditorium.  Plenty of great roles are available, and all are welcome to audition.
