Firstly our condolences go to Edith Hall who’s husband passed away recently. When I write this School Holidays are upon us and some of us will be entertaining our grandchildren with visits to the movies, zoo,and local playgrounds .Sewing baking gardening and teaching them to do the things we love to do. . Maybe even a holiday away somewhere in NZ. Do they know what community work you are involved with? It has been shown that children and I suspect grandchildren of those that help in the community once they have the time give their time to community organisations.

We will be needing NEW Board members. Do you have the skills to be President, Secretary or Treasurer? If our club is to keep going we need these positions filled. Here is an overview of what the positions entail, not a full list. President: Oversee the running of the club. Preside over a monthly meeting, Delegate to other members jobs that need doing, Occasional speeches at coffee mornings and ambassador visits. Write a monthly piece in the newsletter. Network with Field Reps and other clubs. Attend where possible Bi Yearly Conference and Bi yearly Leaders meeting. Secretary: Minutes of monthly meetings, other secretarial jobs as required which includes keeping an up to date register of members. Receive inward correspondence and attend to outward correspondence. Treasurer: Receipt and bank all monies inwards, Pay invoices. Send out Annual Invoices for membership. Prepare and present annual report and annual budget. Oversee inward and outward journey monies. Please contact Sue if you are willing to fill any of the above positions. [email protected]. I recently sent out emails asking for those who can host our February Inward Journey. Did you receive it and reply? I’m happy to have a maybe as I know it’s away off yet. Please reply when you read this if you haven’t already! It’s good to know who has received and read the emails sent. [email protected] Debbie already has 20 names of NZ members who are interested. Thank you to Rhondda for organising the Tulip day out. It was a lovely social day with 2 new potential ladies joining us!

President Kennedy said once: “It’s not what we can do for you – it is what can you do for Country. We should bear this in mind when we are thinking of our Club”.

“It is not what we can do for you – it is what can you do for our Club”. Several of our Members are standing down this year as they have done 5/6 years of service. What we

need from our Club members is that you offer some time to our Club and serve on the Board. It is not

an onerous task – a meeting once a month and helping out with organizing Club activities.

We need a new President, as Sue has done 2 years of ‘presiding’. Peter has been our Treasurer for 6

years is standing down and Allan Taylor is also standing down after quite a few years on the Board.

We need a new President, Secretary, Treasurer and we would like these positions filled for the coming

year.

We cannot continue if we do not have a functioning Board, so please offer the Club your expertise in

these rather troubling times.

Tulip trip to Wellington

A beautiful day dawned on Saturday 19th and

12 of us took the bus to Wellington (no trains,

maintenance on the railway line), duly wearing

our face masks. First time for most of us

wearing a mask for any length of time.

Arriving in Wellington we boarded a bus to

take us to the Cable Car up to Kelburn and then

we walked down through the Botanical Gardens. A superb lunch was had at the Lady

Norwood Rose Gardens and a stroll through the Bolton Street Cemetery, learning a lot of

history along the way. A great day was had by all.

Thankyou Rhondda for a great

Day.

THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE PLEDGE

As a member of the Friendship Force I recognise that I can

make a difference.

I recognise that I have a mission.

That mission is to be a friend to the people of the world.

As I embark on this adventure I know that others will be

watching me.

I know that through my example to my fellow citizens and

people of other countries,

the cause of peace and friendship can be furthered.

I can make a difference.
