October, 2017 Activity Report: Building Hope, Building Community

“Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. How we handle it is what makes the difference.”

FEATURE: Student Scholarships!

Starting the new scholastic year, that began in the fall of 2017, 8 new University students were sponsored. As well as 9 Vocational College Students!—For a total of 17 new students who started the September semester. This is in addition to the 32 on-going students who received sponsorship since the beginning of the year. These are high-achieving students, with outstanding potential, however, because of their economic status they cannot afford to pay tuition as higher education is very expensive. One of our goals is to support more Vocational Students, those learning car mechanics, electronics, tourism, executive secretaries, etc.—as these vocations are sorely needed.

BEFORE AFTER

The first thing the kids grab out of the box is the powdered milk. Milk is expensive & food provides security not only for the moms—but the kids too—

knowing that the milk is going to come every month! Thank you, MRI & SNI, for the 37 food packs monthly!

Latifa’s Story

Latifa’s mom became paralyzed from the waist

down when the tent fell on her back. The father has

kidney failure. Their young daughter, Latifa, has

sacrificed her dreams to stay with her parents & care for

them. She works in the nearby fields for very little income. The only food this family has is the monthly food package. They can

barely afford bottled water that the father needs for his

kidneys. (Volunteers with Latifa, her

mom & dad).

Water Security!

The desert kingdom has one of the lowest levels of water availability in the world. Many families too

poor to afford a water tank! Water is precious!
