In the Loop
Finally the sun is shining and in school we have made the most of this by using outside spaces to teach some of our lessons. With the arrival of the warmer weather, (hopefully) can I please remind you to send your children in with a bottle of water, sun hat and with sunscreen on. Thanks to the PTA fundraising and donations from the governing body we will be having additional sunshades fitted over the half term
break. This will give us much needed shade on the main playground.
We often highlight children’s achievements out of school but this week I wanted to celebrate two of our members of staff. Miss L. Thomas (Year 4 teacher) and Mrs G. Wright (Year 3 teacher) have both completed marathons in the last month. Miss Thomas ran the Brighton marathon and Mrs Wright the London Marathon (See picture). Mrs Wright was raising funds for Histio Uk. Well done to
both, an amazing achievement.
The school ducks continue to be a focus of much attention at the beginning and end of the school day. Many children have applied to be ‘Duck Keepers’. We are working through the application letters and will notify you of who they will be later in the term. A big thank you to Mr Osborn who has built a beau-tiful new duck house to keep the ducks safe at night. They love their new home. The Governors and PTA
have very kindly funded these projects.
THANK YOU
A very big thank you to Over The Moon party shop in Pevensey Bay
for their kind donations and
discount on items for our ‘Queen’s
90th Birthday’ celebration.

To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday the school will be having a party in the school grounds. On this day we ask that staff and
children to dress in either red, white or blue or dress like a royal.
We will be asking each child to bring a small donation of party
food (see book bags for more details) .
Mufti day Red, white or blue, or dress like a Royal!
Make your own Crown competition
Can you design and make a crown for the Queen?
Criteria
It must have a royal theme.
You must wear it to the street party.
There will be a winner selected from each year group. All
children entering will receive a certificate.
Two of our pupils managed to find our bunting amongst the many rows of bunting outside the Pier! Well done to our twins in Reception—Rebekah and Esther for being great detectives and to the children at our school who decorated these flags,
helping to brighten up our lovely new Pier.
We hope you find the time to go and visit the Pier if you haven’t already done so, it is such a lovely feeling to be able to step foot
on it once again!

Business Ambassadors—Working Ways
Two of our year 5 pupils have been taking part in Education Futures Trust project ‘Working Ways’. During the year the children have had the opportunity to learn about businesses across the town. They have visited retail outlets, tourism and leisure based businesses, catering and also the public sector including police, fire bridge and other schools. The year long project ended with a visit to Ashburnham Place where the children had a tour and an opportunity to present what they had
learnt during the project. Please see below.
Business Ambassadors from
schools across the town.
Well done Keira and Liam.
They created a presentation on working in the leisure industry and for the police and presented this in front of over 30 people.
This is something they would not have been
able to do at the beginning of the project.

Arshaya in Y2 has worked very hard on her 3d task as part of her learning topic on the seaside.
What a fantastic lifeboat replica! The detail is amazing and she is very proud of what she has
achieved, as are we!
A big well done to mum too!!
Well done to Charlie who was awarded a Headteacher Award for his
amazing piece of writing!
The children in the class had to look at a picture to gain inspirational ideas
before starting their free write.
Written above:
The dragon is descending to the air. It is amazing and exhilarating. The castle is bright and colourful. I like the distance of the bright and colourful mountains. Suddenly a proud king rushed outside. The dragon is breathing out
fire. The king gazed and fell over.
Here is the picture (right) of the
image Charlie wrote about.

Achievements outside of school
Hello I am Nikkia, I was awarded these badges at Brownies which I attend on a
Wednesday after school.
I got the number fun badge for maths
tests that I completed at Brownies.
I then got the Hostess badge because of a tea party that we held on Mothers
Day. We all served our parents tea and
cake.
I got the teddy bear badge because we had a teddy bears picnic and had lots of fun on the trampolines, we even took our teddy bears on them! We took part in a challenge, jumping on the trampolines for 30 minutes, and a
machine recorded the amount of jumps
we did.
Finally I was awarded a sixer badge which is for the amount of time that I
have been at Brownies.
I love it at Brownies and I will be joining
guides later in the year when I turn 10.
Vladimir in Y1 has been awarded this
rosette for winning 5 out of the 6 chess
competitions he played for his age range
(5-8) over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
He tells us that he will be going on to enter
more competitions in the near future.
Well done Vladimir.
Our Honarary Headteachers were given the task of presenting the assembly last Friday. Matus gave out the Golden Stickers and Cups. Pharrell awarded the
chocolates for the attendance challenge. Jean talked about ‘Inspiring a Generation’ and Shannon took the prayer.

children on play ground.
Please remember to keep a close eye on your toddlers and
pre-school children when waiting on the playground at the
beginning and end of the day.
The gates are open and we have noticed a couple of ‘wanderers’
recently.
Thank you.
