AMERIPEX REPORT As those of you who attended AMERIPEX know, it was an absolutely overwhelming stamp show. The exhibits were extremely powerful. There were lots of dealers with good stocks and postal agencies for the new issue collectors. The youth programs were most encouraging for the future of the hobby. And there were plenty of visitors, even during mid-week when I was there. However in my opinion, the quantity and quality of the BNA exhibits was not up to the level of the rest of the show. For the Newfoundland collector there were no competitive exhibits--a major disappointment. The only Newfoundland on display were Robert Page 1 Chairman & Newsletter Editor: C.A. AMERIPEX REPORT

As those of you who attended AMERIPEX know, it was an absolutelyoverwhelming stamp show. Pratt's pence issues in the Court of Honor and parts of otherexhibits such as John Foxbridge's BNA first issues and PaulDinger's Dornier DO-X. I certainly hope the reason for BNA'spoor showing was exhibitors holding back their exhibits inanticipation of CAPEX next year in Toronto.

I was only able to spend two full days at AMERIPEX which was justtime to see the SNA and a few other exhibits, visit with friends, and check out a few dealers. I went to Chicago knowing that twodealers were each bringing an unusual Newfoundland item to theshow . To my amazement , on the eighth day of the show, bothdealers had the respective items available . Both items are nowin my collection . A photocopy of one is included with thisnewsletter ; more about the other in a future newsletter. Thefact that these items were still available so late in the showonly reinforces my suspicions that there is a lot of goodNewfoundland out there waiting to be made into great collections.

Found at AMERIPEX SG 269a used on cover . The line perforated 14Queen Mother properly used on a post card to the United Stateswithin three months of issue.
