Remedios Flamenco music group Remedios appears in 2001 and is soon denominated as the most remarkable
flamenco brand and representative in Slovak Republic. The iniciative to create such an ensemble originated from the need of finding new flamenco arrangements and at the time to move from interpretation to creation. The name itself declares the new ways of treatment of any musical material (Remedios – possibilities). Apart from flamenco, the authors of compositions Matus Kohutek, Stanislav Kohutek and Cyril Kubis let themselves inspire by Gipsy Kings firstly, afterwards by elements of jazz, latino-american music and world-music. The very specific fusion has come to light proposing particular freshly new perspective to the flamenco phenomenon in Middle-East Europe. The repertoire complete several pieces of original arrangements of Manuel de Falla, David Dorantes, Vicente Amigo or Astor Piazzolla. Remedios artistic kick off took place in november 2001 at the 4.th International Flamenco Festival Bratislava. Right in 2002 they were granted financial support from Soros Contemporary Art Center for realization of the professional master record (author CD) which was baptized as VENDAVAL two years after. The group has played at festivals in Slovakia such as Tanečný dom a Oživené tance, also abroad at 1. Flamenco festival in Mníšek pod Brdy, and at the festival of hispanic music Iberica both in Czech Republic. Nowadays they perform in Hungary, Czech and Slovak Republic, Austria, Germany and Poland working with Spanish flamenco artists as dancers Juan Polvillo, Araceli de Alcalá, Pilar Ortega, Mercedes Ruiz, singers El Tañe, Alberto Garcia, Felix de Lola, Maria Aguilar, Ismael Fernandez, or the percussionist Paco Vega. In the course of next two years the group cooperated on successful music-dance flamenco projects El amor brujo, Los characteres, Sangre Flamenca and Carmen, which were presented all over Czecho-Slovaquian scenes. In 2004 Remedios achieved the final of contest Nové tváre slovenského jazzu (New Faces of Slovak Jazz), where they won the prize for the best conception and collective interpretation. In 2005 the group participated on music record for the movie Hrubeš a Mareš jsou kamarádi do deště. They were invited to perform the guest role at the Gipsy Gings concert in Bratislava. They also performed at the most considerable Slovak jazz festival Bratislavske jazzove dni 2005. In the same year they cooperated with National Theater in Prague for the act Zvonařka závist. In 2006 Remedios co-performed at the concert with the famous Spanish guitarist Gerardo Nuñez. A year after, the second CD CARDAMON has been released with the very good referencies within both public and critics. Presently Remedios are opening the 4.th season of the first Slovak flamenco musical Don Quijote by Sancho, launched in 2006. They also keep performing in the Czech-American musical production Carmen with the famous diva Lucie Bilá.
