HISTORYOriginally built in 1903, the Walter Brem House has been lovingly restored to maintain the grandeur of the fine Colonial Revival homes that were built at the turn of the century.

As one of Charlotte’s first examples of the style, this magnificent two-story residence was designed by C.C. Hook, a prominent Charlotte architect. Hook also designed other notable locations such as the Duke Mansion and Charlotte City Hall.

When constructed, the Walter Brem House was located on a fashionable residential street, which was the showplace of Dilworth, Charlotte’s first streetcar suburb. Today, Dilworth is a popular historic neighborhood which borders Uptown Charlotte, the nation’s largest utility center and third largest banking center.

The Walter Brem House has been restored over the years and retains much of its original character. The building is currently utilized as the main office and headquarters for one of the most widely recognized law firms in North Carolina. It is has been featured in numerous publications and part of the Dilworth Historic Home Tour. On November 7, 2013 the City of Charlotte proclaimed the Walter Brem Day.
