ENUGU USA MEDICAL MISSION(Tax Exempt, USIRS 501©3)

MISSION STATEMENTThe Enugu USA Medical Mission is a humanitarian year round mission to provide FREE medical care to the people of Enugu State who are underserved and less privileged. It is in response to health crisis (malaria, arthritis, diabetes, infections, ulcers, high blood pressure, wounds, health education, etc) that Enugu USA medical Mission was organized to contribute to solutions that solve health issues affecting Enugu people.

ACCOMPLISHMENTSince the inception of Enugu USA medical Mission in 2002 Enugu USA has successfully carried out a yearly medical mission to Enugu State. The 2010 medical Mission was the ninth mission and more than 24 communities were visited where men, women, and children received assessment, treatment, or received medications for various illnesses and diseases. The participants in 2010 mission include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, environmental health experts, dieticians, attorneys, engineers, and educators from USA and Nigeria. All these participants licensed in United States and Nigeria worked tirelessly to see the accomplishment of the 2010 medical mission. The mission was 100% funded by materials and money raised by the Enugu USA national financial committee and the medical mission team via donations from various Enugu USA organizations, individuals, and some USA cooperation as well as Enugu State Govt. The team worked with various other committees of the executive to make this happen.

Paul Aniugo and the National Secretary, Hon. Joy Chy Chukwu. At this moment, we got courtesy call from the EnuguUSA Vice President, Hon. Chinwe Ofoleta and the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Dr. Amaka Oduh and we all took turns to exchange pleasantries with them.   However, Hon. Leo Ugwu, haven met with Dr. Otiji prior to the meeting, started by introducing him and his team to us all. Dr. Otiji informed us that a total of 15 rooms were assigned to the Medical Mission Team [M.M.T] and that check-in starts immediately. He stated that efforts to increase the number of rooms have been futile and advised that we contact the Hon. Special Adviser to the Government on Diaspora Matters and Special Projects, Dr. Jude Akubilo for help. He assured us of the fullest cooperation of the Government in all areas including transportation, Security, and Personnel. The National President thanked him for his efforts so far, promised to work with what we had for that night while we wait and see how much more rooms will be needed later.  Hon. Solomon Maduko stated that most of the medications were already stored in his room and that the bags for packaging the medications for different teams have been purchased. He suggested that the M.M Coordinator, Hon. Leo Ugwu should control the medication room until the mission is over. This was approved by all.  The National President briefed all on the immediate need to partner with some clinics in various communities to be visited but will hold off on calling the meeting for that until the Medical Mission Medical Director, Dr. Martin Ugwudike arrives. He encouraged the Commissioner for Health through her Perm. Sec., Dr. Otiji to Endeavour to attend at least one or two missions with us for observations and critics but he [Dr. Otiji] said that it will be quite impossible due to their busy schedule. He promised to send a capable representative that will go with us.At this point, the Perm. Sec and his team excused themselves out of the meeting for other engagements.  Hon. Paul Aniugo enquired on how the Grinding Machine Project with the women is going.  The BOD Chairman, Hon. Engr. Chibuzor Nweke stated that whatever is raised for the project should be properly tabled to the National President and that he [National President] should try to be part and parcel of the project since he formed the committee and its still under the EnuguUSA Medical Mission.  The National Secretary, Hon. Chy Chukwu informed them that the Committee Chairperson plans to work with the Catholic Women Organization.  The National President, Hon. Bernard Ugwu suggested that since Hon. Chy Chukwu is on ground, she should work hand-in-hand with the Women Affairs Committee Chairperson.  The M.M. Coordinator enquired on how we intend to take care of lunch for all volunteers for the duration of the mission since the state government promised to take care of our breakfast and dinner.  The National President, Hon. Ugwu pointed out that it will be wise for us to check the schedule and see if there is any of our team members that we will be visiting his/her community, who will be kind enough to provide us with lunch, that way, we save the cost of taking food to that community. Both Hon. Chy Chukwu and Hon. Dr. Solomon Maduko were happy to inform them that Ugbawka and Nsude are on schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday respectively and they will provide the teams with food and drinks on those days. The National President and BOD Chairman expressed their gratitude to them.  Hon. Leo Ugwu also enquired on the status of the different pledges to be collected in naira.  The National President, Hon. Ugwu informed all that he contacted the Ofuobi Women's

President, Hon. Dr. Chii Akporji regarding their pledge but she said that she is working on it and will be arriving Abuja that Sunday. The National President also stated that he will be meeting with Senator Ayogu Eze the next day to collect his own money that he pledged. As for the pledge made by Hon. Blessing Chukwu's brother, the National President stated that he had no information on that but intends to give her [Hon. Chukwu] a follow up call in regards to that.  The meeting was adjourned and a closing prayer was said by Hon. Chy Chukwu.  As we were dispersing, the Special Adviser to the Government on Diaspora Matters and Special Project, Hon. Dr. Jude Akubilo, Hon. Frank Akubuilo, Chief John Egbo, the Commissioner for Transport and Enugu Capital Developement, Hon. Charlly Parker, who is working with Hon. Commissioner Egbo, Hon. Ozo Paul Sayama, the General Secretary- Rangers International Football Club, Enugu Hon. Levi Onyia and some friends now worked into the hotel lobby to welcome all the Medical Mission Team. On behalf of Hon. Engr. Goddy Madueke and family, Hon. Dr. Jude Akubilo invited us all to his [Hon. Engr. Madueke's] house for dinner. Hon. Dr. Akubuilo also used that opportunity to inform us that he got calls from the National President and the Coordinator regarding the 15 rooms assigned to the team. He assured us that more rooms will be available as more of our members arrive. The tension was now calmed and we all headed to Hon. Commissioner Madueke's house. Inattendance for the dinner were the Chief host and family, Hon. Dr. Jude Akubilo, Hon. Chief John Egbo, Hon. Ozo Paul Sayama, Hon. Johnbul Nwagu, Hon. Charlly Parker, Hon. Bernard Ugwu, Hon. MEDICAL MISSION ORIENTATION DAY, MONDAY, DEC. 13TH. 2010.    At 7:30 on Monday, Dec. 13th. 2010, our much dedicated and very energetic Medical Mission Team were all dressed up in their jeans/dress pants with the uniformed Medical Mission purple T shirts. The National Secretary, Hon. Chy Chukwu with the help of Miss Obianuju Onyebuchi and Miss Chinwe Ugwu were at the lobby registering our volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists and helpers trooping into what I can call the best hotel so far in Enugu, a solidly built, magnificent five star hotel [Golden Tulip] owned by the son of the soil, CHIEF CHINEDU OCHINANWATA [OSI NA NWATA BULU OGALANYA]. Everyone greeted each other with hugs and there was clearly a sense of family reunion. The National Coordinator, Hon. Leo Ugwu was assigning all the registered volunteers to different teams [7] as well as sorting out the medical equipments with the help of the nurses and sharing them into seven teams. The Chief Pharmacist, Hon. Solomon Maduko and some already

registered doctors and pharmacists were busy in his room sorting out medication and packaging them into some labeled GHANA MUST GO bags. Ha-ha. Hon. Dr. Uzzi Chukwu on her own was busy giving all the registered volunteers at the hotel ground hall health education on BREAST CANCER AWARENESS and BASIC LIFE SUPPORT. She also intimated them on how each team will be divided into different group, with emphasis on the need for the physicians to keep an eye on some student nurses while taking care of the patients and taking time to teach them if need be. Everyone took their time to introduce themselves and the excitement about the week ahead was palpable. Details of the training will be tendered by Dr. Uzzi Chukwu.   At 4:00pm, our Diaspora brothers in the persons of Hon. Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters and Special Projects, Dr. Jude Akubilo, Hon. Commissioner for Transport and Enugu Capital Developement, Chief John Egbo, the Hon. Commissioner for Works, Engr. Goddy Madueke [a.k.a] COMMISSIONER NO POT-HOLES] arrived the hotel to address all the volunteers. On the high table as ushered by the able Coordinator Medical Mission, Hon. Leo Ugwu were, the EnuguUSA National President, Hon. Bernard Ugwu, the BOD Chairman, Hon. Engr. Chibuzo Nweke, the Chief Pharmacist, Hon. Solomon Maduko [Pharm D], the National Secretary, Hon. Joy Chy Chukwu, the Chairperson Health and Wellness / Assistant Chief Medical Director M.M, Hon. Dr. Uzzi Chukwu, the Women Affairs Committee Chairperson, Hon. Dr. Chizobam Ahanonu, the Federal House Of Reps, Udi/Ezeagu Fed Constituency Aspirant, Hon. Ethelbert Odoh, the Financial Secretary, Hon. Paul Aniugo, Hon. CYAninta, Mrs Queen Karma, our Diaspora sister from Missouri, who just came to cheer the mission team.   The Hon. Coordinator M.M observed the presence of a Rev. Sister Josephine Njoku among the mission's team, which is first in history. A round of applause was given to her while she led us in an opening prayer. He now called on Hon. Chief John Egbo to address our volunteers.   Hon. Egbo started by acknowledging all the members of the high table and appreciated all the volunteers. He stated that he is delighted to see that more members are being driven to participate in the medical mission. He also acknowledged the mission's veterans amongst the team for their yearly participation. Highlighted on how tedious but fulfilling the experience is. He told us how much involved he has been in charity works and how God has blessed him today. He deeply expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers for giving up their time and other very important things in their lives at the moment just to see that the mission is accomplished. He closed his remark saying "I want you all to understand that this medical Mission serves as an open awareness to all that health is very necessary to all. It is a reach out to our sick brothers and sisters than us, giving them a sense of being loved and remembered. Keep up the good work and may Godreward you". Again, he thanked and appreciated all.   The National President when called upon, observed all protocol, thanked the volunteers immensely for their full participation from morning till present. He advised that there is the possibility that they may not be working with their best friends in the same team, that they should all bear in mind that we need team work, respect to one another more especially to their team coordinators while in the field. He assured all that we will be traveling with security and should any issue arise, to report to security. He reminded them that this is a charity work and we are not putting a price to it. He thanked and appreciated all.   When BOD Chairman, Hon. Engr. Chibuzo Nweke was called upon, he also observed the existing protocol and thanked all. He encouraged the volunteers to be steadfast in their duties and

do it cheerfully because they never know who is paying attention, who will need their services and when. He encouraged all to do their best in ensuring that it will be a hitch-free mission. He thanked and appreciated all.   Speaking after the BOD Chairman was Hon. Dr. Jude Akubilo as introduced by the Hon. Coordinator, Leo Ugwu. Dr. Akubilo also started by observing all protocol. He gave a special acknowledgement to Ozo Ethelbert Odoh, who despite his busy schedule with his campaign in his quest to secure a seat in the Federal House of Reps Udi/Ezeagu Fed. Constituency still made out time to once again participate in the mission. He pleaded with all to give him [Ozo Odoh] their support and wished him well. He reminded both the mission team and all volunteers that we are the LIFE LINE of medical mission. He argued that our people, states, country etc should be driven on volunteerism i.e. being willing to provide needed services without first, thinking of what is in it for you. To him, that is a precursor to bribery and looks bad. He cited example with a little girl, who gave seats to him on several occasions in church and in return, he ended up giving her ascholarship. He threw light on the various ways our selfless services have helped not only in helping our sick poor people but also moving our association forward. He advised us to stay focused and work hard in our various offices no matter what. Finally, he reminded us that our Governor, His Excellency, Barrister Sullivan Iheanacho Chime is very pleased with our work and will be assisting us with  accommodation, security, transportation and feeding [breakfast and dinner only] and on his behalf, he appreciated and thanked all for agreeing to serve.    Hon. Engr. Goddy Madueke was now introduced by the Coordinator. He also observed the protocol and thanked Dr. Akubilo for his well articulated speech. He appreciated all the Med. Mission team for not only sacrificing their time with their family, work etc but spending their hard earned money just to be on ground to serve our sick poor masses. He appreciated us for the services to humanity, which we are about to embark on. He promised to continue to executing his assigned duties on tarring roads to the best of his abilities. He informed us that they have about 350 kilometers of rural roads under construction, which is the first in history of Enugu State and 200 kilometers of urban roads under construction as well. He concluded by giving his hearty cheers to all saying "I know that this job is very tasking but also doable. May God guide and reward you all".   Next in line was Hon. Dr. Uzzi Chukwu, who again observed all protocol, stated that she is excited and ready to serve. She specially acknowledged the National Secretary, Hon. Chy Chukwu for tireless services more especially her unique and very remarkable writing skills during her services as the National Publicity Secretary and now the current National Secretary. With her, she [Dr. Uzzi] is sure of a detailed Medical Mission report. Applause was giving to Hon. Chukwu as she exited the stage. Dr. Uzzi went on to express how grateful she is with all the volunteers, who turned out en mass to work. She informed all that we will be incorporating breast cancer examination in our health awareness program. She highly commended our Governor on his attention on health awareness programme and his assistance to our yearly medical mission.    Hon. Chy Chukwu, in her address to the volunteers expressed her excitement and her readiness to experience her first Medical Mission with the team, appreciated them for showing the desire and willingness to give up their time to help our sick underserved. She also used that opportunity to inform them about the recent Scholarship given to 17 students in U.N.N and E.S.U.T respectively by the Exclusive Ladies of Enugu State Association, Washington DC of which

she and Dr. Uzzi Chukwu present there, are members and the award ceremony will be holding on Dec. 17th. 2010 and they are all invited. She also thanked our state Governor for his unflinching support to the yearly mission team.  The Chairperson, Women Affairs Committee, Dr. Chizoba Ahanonu was called upon and after observing the protocol, she expressed her deep appreciation to all the volunteers for their willingness to participate in the mission. She spoke on unprotected sex, women empowerment and now threw light on the first Grinding Machine Project [Loan to own] that will be awarded to different towns in different L.G.A on Dec. 27th. [Although, it was later done on Jan. 15th. 2011]. She said she has attended medical mission in their community with her husband but is excited to work with the EnuguUSA mission team.   At this juncture, dinner was served to all the volunteers after which all dispersed.   The National President at the lobby informed all that Hon. Dr. Jude Akubilo is inviting all to his house for dinner. All the Diaspora brothers and sisters present in the orientation together with Hon. Engr. Levi Onyia, Hon. Frank Akubilo and other friends all headed to Dr. Akubilo house.    Again, dinner was very delicious, more especially the spicy ram suya freshly grilled by hired professional at Dr. Akubilo's backyard. Vote of thanks was given by the Hon. National President after which all headed back to the hotel to get enough rest for the medical mission proper which commences from the next day.Still stay tuned. Thank you. Yours in Service,Hon. Joy Chy Chukwu,National Secretary, EnuguUSA.     ******************************************************************************

Happy Holidays!!!

Let me begin my story by thanking the men, women, and children of EnuguUSA for the opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters of Enugu State of Nigeria. The 2010 EnuguUSA Medical Mission has ended with pride. As many of you are aware, this is a political season but politics did not interfere with the Medical Mission. Special thanks to His Excellency, Governor Sullivan Chime, Health Commissioner, Hon. (Mrs.) Fedelia Akpa, Hon. (Dr.) Jude Akubuilo, Special Adviser to the Governor for Diaspora Matters....Thanks to Dr. Akubuilo again for hosting the EnuguUSA Medical Mission Team. The food was delicious. The drinks were good. Dr. Akubuilo shared a copy of the letter in which the Governor has approved land and office space for EnuguUSA activities in Enugu. Hon. National President Bernard Ugwu will say more about this. A directive has been given to implement Governor's approval. There are serious health problems in Enugu State villages. These include but not limited to malaria (caused by mosquito bites), typhoid fever (caused by poor sanitation), worm infestation

21

Page 22: OFFICIAL REPORT ON 2008 MEDICAL MISSIONxa.yimg.com/kq/groups/18524233/516450783/name/2010... · Web view(A Non Profit, 501©3 Organization) 2010 MEDICAL MISSION REPORT (December 12

9caused by contaminated water), etc. These are preventable diseases. Hon. Ed. Nebo and I accompanied Team 4 to Amokpo, Nike on December 14, 2010. Volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists worked very hard and the community were happy. I engaged the community in a discussion about strategies to prevent malaria, typhoid fever and worm problems. Fingers were pointed at sanitation and water supply sources. Details of illnesses and treatments will be addressed by members of the Medical Mission Team in their report. It was a different story on December 15, 2010. I traveled to Okpanku with Team 5. The road was very bad. The Igwe and local officials went to Enugu for political activities. Work started after a brief but civil argument with the local government supervisor of works regarding permission to visit Okpanku. The Health commissioner got involved and the matter was resolved. There were cases of malaria and worm infestation. I educated the people about strategies to fight malaria and worms in the drinking water. Details of illnesses and treatments will be addressed by the Medical Team in their report. The situation was mixed on December 16, 2010 when we (Hon. Cy Aninta, Hon. Dr. Joy Ahanonu and I) visited Isienu-Amofu in Agbani with Team 4. We started work at the village square as suggested by Dr. Ahanonu. The village health center was too small to accommodate a large crowd. The villagers assembled quickly. The story was the same....worm infestation, malaria and other diseases. Dr. Ahanonu told to the villagers to drink clean water and eat good food. She integrated nutrition into the Medical Mission at Isienu. Hon. Cy Aninta was busy with crowd control. I engaged some elders in talking about their water supply source. They pointed fingers at Golo-Golo water source and open community toilet facility that appear to be the source of worm infestation and typhoid. Fingers were also pointed at chickens and hens that come in contact with feces at the public toilet facility and responsible for spreading diseases. I hope Isienu people in EnuguUSA are paying attention. The Medical journey to this community ended well with happy facesAdditionally, I engaged volunteer nurses in a discussion about preventable diseases such as malaria, typhoid fever and worm infestation. The volunteers suggested excellent disease prevention strategies. It was nice to work with the Hon. National President Bernard Ugwu, Hon. Board Chair Chibuzo Nweke, Hon. Ethel Odo, Hon. (Engr.) Martin Nnam, Hon. Ed Nebo, Hon. CY Aninta, Hon. Leo Ugwu, Hon. Joy Chukwu, Hon. Eunice Urama, Hon. (Dr.) Joy Ahanonu, Hon. (Dr.) Uzi Cecilia Chukwu, Hon. Paul Aniugo, Hon. Uka Ude, Hon. Ifunanya Agubuzo, Hon. (Dr.) Chii Akporji (Immediate Past National VP), Hon. Solomon Maduko and others that I cannot remember their names at this time. Special thanks to all the volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, security police, drivers, and other logistics people for their hard work.We are proud of EnuguUSA Medical Mission. Thanks for your support.

The Medical Mission: Education and Medicationthe 12/14&15/10 SENIOR NURSE Story!A senior nurse stood tall on December 14 and 15, 2010 during my workshop on preventive malaria, typhoid fever and worm infestations. As you know or may be you do not know that hundreds of our people die each year from these preventive diseases.  Millions of Naira is spent each year to treat preventive diseases. The Medical Mission provides an opportunity and a challenge to integrate education into administering medication. My workshop on December 14 and 15, 2010 in Enugu, which was attended by more than 100 health professionals (doctors, nurses, etc) raised questions about what should be done to slow down preventive malaria, typhoid fever and worm infestations. Our nurses and doctors were eager to suggest ideas but one SENIOR NURSE took the lead in the discussion by very carefully educating everyone about the sources of mosquitoes, typhoid and worms. As you know, many people live in very poor environmental conditions....swamps, public toilets, etc.Imagine what a roaming dog, hen, birds, people, etc can do after coming in contact with public toilets and return to their owners and put their feet, beak, etc in dinner dishes and cups. The result is contamination and illness. The senior nurse assured everyone that education and medication is the key to a successful medical mission. Hon. Joy Ahanonu, MD creatively integrated health education and medication during our visit to Isienu-Amofu in Agbani with Team 4.  The Medical Mission: Education and Medication. Thanks to the SENIOR NURSE!

Chief/Professor Godfrey Arinze Uzochukwu, PhD

Here's my little "nut' and "bolts" on the medical mission on the towns, which I visited with my team. DEC. 14TH 2010 IN UGBAWKA, NKANU L.G.A:   We got there at some mins. to 1:00pm due to transportation problem. Patients were more than happy to see us Training on CPR and other emergency response issues were given by Hon. Dr. Uzzi Chukwu prior to her assisting other Doctors in providing services to the patients. Training on nutrition and other health preventive issues were given by hon. Chy Chukwu as well as assisting other nurses in checking patient’s vital signs in readiness to see the doctors.   A total of 79 patients were examined and treated. The ailments noted were Typhoid Fever, Arthritis, Worms, Eye problems [on the majority], High Blood Pressure. DEC. 15TH IN NSUDE, UDI L.G.A. On that day we had more vehicles but still shot of at least four. We rented only two buses and made some adjustments.  We visited Nsude in Udi L.G.A. The local church community was very helpful. Patients were seated, vital signs checked, doctors were seen and appropriate medications were given, although

23

Page 24: OFFICIAL REPORT ON 2008 MEDICAL MISSIONxa.yimg.com/kq/groups/18524233/516450783/name/2010... · Web view(A Non Profit, 501©3 Organization) 2010 MEDICAL MISSION REPORT (December 12

the meds. Were never enough. Ailments noted were, arthritis, malaria, stomach problems, but High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and typhoid fever were in the majority. NOTABLE CASE: We had an experience with a man in his early seventies, whose blood pressure was 240/173. He appeared to have had stroke in the past, which affected his mouth. He was asked if he takes any HBP medications or if he is aware that he might be suffering from the illness as evidenced by the result of his pressure which was repeatedly checked after med. administration. The man cheerfully states " Ha shi na mu welu stroku, mana ndi be anyi e na enwogho obala mgbayi enu". [They said I had stroke but High Blood Pressure does not run in my family]. Little did the man know that he was on the verge of having another episode of stroke/heart attack? He was kept with us longer than he anticipated; his BP was repeatedly checked after meds. Administration. Med. education and proper dieting was given to him. Referral to Udi/Ezeagu Health Screening center was given to him and the vast majority with the illness as well. Prior to his exit, his BP came down to 158/97. He verbalized feeling much better and took his time to thank all volunteers. BENEFIT: With the old man's case, he probably would not have made it the next day. Yes we don't know what has become of him today but the medical mission team through the help of God sustained his life and thought him how to live a healthier life while battling with the illness. DEC. 16TH 2010 IN AWHA NDIAGU:  There, we observed that most of the villager was in high need of medical assistance. We saw many minor medical problems that have become major problems due to lack of timely medical care or medicines.  One of our nurses, Mrs. Chinwe Ukawoko with experience on pediatrics nursing, focused on assessing the hundreds of sick children. She noted some children with suspected STDs as evidenced in some blisters in their mouth, hands, and private parts. Doctors were informed but the antibiotics we had could not serve the majority of the patient that needed them, let alone giving them the complete dose. She also noted some children with very swollen lymph nodes that during examination, you could see them groan in pain. It was very disturbing as we were not well equipped with med. equipments and medications to properly treat the patients. Referrals to UNTH and Park lane hospitals were made. The town, according to the villagers had a small clinic located several miles away. Majority of them have never visited the clinic due to the distance and as a result, rely on mostly herbs treatment. We noted some wound care but lacks medical supplies for treating wounds. We improvised the best way we could and assisted a couple of them with the treatment.Another woman ran to us crying. She stated that her young daughter had pneumonia and a very serious throat problem, which causes her to regurgitate her food and as a result of that, gets weaker. With the description of her house according to the other patients in line, her house appeared too far away from the location. Even if we had an ambulance with us to dispatch to get the young girl, we had already run out of antibiotics to give to her. We simply encouraged her to take her child to hospital by the next day. Mrs. Chinwe Ukawoko and I contributed the sum of N6,000.00 and gave to her to enable her take her child to hospital the next day. It was very emotional. She subbed bitterly as she collected the money.

There was also an older woman that brought her daughter, who appeared to be in the frail stage of life due to AIDS Virus. Clearly, there was absolutely nothing medically we could do for her [the daughter] but as Christians with one of us being a staunch born-again Christian, we found out that there was something spiritually we could do. The born again Christian female nurse took charge after interrogating with them and privately prayed for them. Referrals were made to hospital and again, Mrs. Chy Chukwu gave them the remaining N3, 000.00 in her purse.A total of 87 adults and 29 children were diagnosed and treated.  DEC. 17TH 2010 IN AMOKWE, UDI L.G.A    Courtesy visit to Amokwe. Minor illnesses were noted and appropriate meds together with vitamins tablets were given to patients. We ran out meds. Quickly. Referrals were made to Udi/Ezeagu Health Screening Center as well as to Udi Hospital and UNTH in Ituku, which is closer to them Illness noted were malaria, arthritis, eye problems, stomach aches, few HBPs. A total of 72 patients were treated. At night, we had our send-off party for all the volunteers, which was well attended. They were very happy despite the fact that they didn't receive their stipend.Overall, it was a great and humbling experience. Hon. Chy Chukwu
