July 17th

Today Sarah Littlefield presented us “Roman Fever” by Edith Wharton. She was

highly critical about the Gilded Age.

Sarah challenged us with her questions and we had lively discussions in our

groups.

We almost missed the break, because the program led us straightaway to the

Newport International Tennis Hall of Fame / Casino.

“Oh, isn’t it

fascinating!”

The Casino was built in 1880 and is famous for its stately architecture and leg-

endary grass courts. What a pity that we didn’t have white dresses with us. So

we couldn’t play a match on the beautiful lawn. Instead we enjoyed a nice

lunch in the restaurant.

Marion Ospelt and Vreni Alig

wish you a nice weekend!

After hard working hours in the

library we were glad to have the

reception at Pierre-Yves and Elisa-

beth’s house. This was an ideal

start to the weekend.
