KONOTOP VALVES PLANT PJS
Konotop Valves Plant was founded in 1973. The Company manufactures high pressure steel pipeline
valves with nominal bore from 3 trough 125 mm and pressure rating up to 700 bar as well as Wellhead
and Christmas Tree equipment with pressure rating from 2,000 through 15,000 psi. It also produces
hammer forged blanks with mass up to 4000 kg as well as die forged blanks with mass up to 250 kg.
Steel pipeline valves produced by the Company are employed in processing lines and equipment for
polymers and mineral fertilizers production, installations for processing gas, oil and petrochemicals as well
as in chemical and other brunches of industry.
The Company manufactures Wellhead and Christmas Tree equipment for drilling wells as well as for oil
and gas production that includes Casing and Tubing Heads, Casing Heads Spools, Tubing Heads Spools,
Slip Hangers and Mandrel Hangers, Tees and Crosses, Tubing Head Adapters, Top Connectors, Adapter
and Spacer Spools, Valves, Chokes, Threaded Connections and Other End Connections, Ring Joint
Gaskets.
Quality control
Konotop Valves Plant PJS pays special attention to the quality of the products on all stages of the
production. In 2003 quality management system was developed and implemented at the enterprise in
compliance with ISO 9001 and since 2003 certified by BUREAU VERITAS. Also, the plant manufactures
wellhead and Christmas tree equipment in accordance with API Spec 1 (Specification for oil, petrochemical
and natural gas industry). Since 2003 the plant is API licensee № 6А-0505 to product list specified.

ADVANCED FACILITY
The processes of hammer forging and die forging of body parts blanks
assure products operation at working pressures up to 15,000 psi.
Different materials used to manufacture the parts of pipeline valves that are
in contact with working fluids resist corrosive ones (concentrated acids,
hydrosulphuric medium etc.) at working fluid temperatures from 60°С
through +450°С.

The Plant is the leading organization for certification of engineering, stress
calculations, production and testing of equipment for gas and oil production
recovery and Prospecting.
Our plant has testing laboratory certified in compliance with GOST R system of
Russian Federation and also by National Certification Agency of Ukraine
(according to the scope of certification). The laboratory is intended for products
testing and certification.

CASING HEADS PN 2,000; 3,000; 5,000; 10,000; 15,000
Design of wellhead equipment provides hanging casing strings in slip hanger.
Sealing is provided with special packer, crosses have side outlets with shutoff valves (valves and gate
valves) from one side and flanges with pressure gauge valve from the other side.
Body parts are forged which ensures their high strength and reliability.
Set of wellhead equipment is completed with back pressure valves and discharge plugs as well as tools
necessary for assembly and operation.
On customer demand, the equipment can be supplied both as a set and as separate assemblies (slip
hanger, packer seal, wellhead spools).
On customer demand, ОКК can be completed with the following equipment: back pressure valve and
double-acting valve; wear bushings for drilling; pressure test plugs for testing equipment installed during
drilling; plugs for valve removal on side outlets under pressure, with lubricator through the gate valve:
VR, HPVR.

Wear bushing removal and installation tool is a simple device of T-like stud
which is pulled down together with drill pipe, and after tool turn the wear
bushing is released from the grip. After drilling works were finished, wear
bushing is removed with this tool, and the grip acts reversely. Wear bushing
removal and installation tool overturned, it can serve test plug with which drill
equipment (preventer and others) can be pressure tested. Table 2.

The tool is intended for mounting (dismounting) wear bushing, and
test equipment used in drilling pressure of 14MPa(2,000 psi) to
105MPa(15,000 psi) for leaks.
Tool for installation and retrieval of wear bushing ZО-343(345, 415, 470,
510) is assembled together with ZО-265 for mounting it on seat position
and dismounting it from there.

hanging tubing string, control of well operation
mode, shutoff and direction of produced fluid to
main line as well as for performance of necessary
technological operations.
For the following nominal pressures 14(2,000),
21(3,000), 35(5,000), 70(10,000),
105(15,000) МPа(psi) there are various
modifications of Christmas trees.

Body parts of X-mas trees are forged that ensures their high strength and reliability.
Can be manufactured to any diagram from GOST 13846 of AF type with hanging tubing string in
mandrel hanger or AFK type with hanging tubing string in adapter flange.
Tubing string can be hanged both in mandrel hanger of tubing head with rubber sealing rings or
metal-to-metal sealing and in adapter flange with thread 60, 73, 89, 102; В-60, В-73, В-89, В-102;
NКМ-60, NКМ-73, NКМ-89, NКМ-102 GOSТ633-80 or to API Spec 5B TBG 23/8’’, 27/

Design of NКТ hanger and tubing head makes possible installation of plug with back pressure valve in
order to provide possibility to change X-mas tree and side outlet gate valves without well killing and
under pressure.
In side outlets of X-mas tree and tubing head, intermediate flanges are provided with thermopockets for
installation of temperature gauges and valves for installation of pressure gauges.
Christmas tree is completed with all necessary spare parts and technological tools necessary for
assembly and operation.
On customer demand, AF may be completed with the following equipment: back pressure valve and
double-acting valve; wear bushings for drilling; pressure test plugs for testing equipment installed during
drilling; plugs for valve removal on side outlets under pressure, with lubricator through the gate valve: VR,
HPVR.

Double-acting valve
Set of tools for valve mounting and retrieving includes accessory for
valve mounting, accessory for valve retrieving and number of extensions
in order the valve could be delivered to the place of its installation.
Accessory for valve mounting is intended for valve installation to
mandrel hanger. It has from one side key end with floating threaded
ring which is screwed into valve inner hole, and pin which is located
above floating ring unit is intended for torque transfer from the accessory
to the valve when it is necessary to install (screw in) valve into mandrel
hanger. From the other side of accessory there is smooth stem with hole
for pin intended for installation and fixing on extension.
Accessory for valve retrieving has threaded end from one side which
corresponds to female thread of installed valve, and when the

Back pressure valve intended for installation in X-mas tree
mandrel hanger in order when removing valves without killing
the well.
When fluid is supplied under pressure to the gate, the valve
opens, and fluid passes to cavity under valve. When there is
no pressure, spring returns gate to initial positions, and the
valve is closed.
Double-acting valve is intended for installation in X-mas tree
mandrel hanger. It is used when stem is in top position in order
to close tubing string when X-mas tree is changed or its units
and X-mas tree pressure test, in this case shutoff stem seals top
seat and isolates tubing string pressure from X-mas tree trunk.
When stem is returned to bottom position, it is possible to test
installed X-mas tree. For pressures 14 to 105 МPа, BPV has left
thread.
accessory turns clockwise, valve is screwed from mandrel hanger and
removed from X-mas tree. Form the other side of the accessory there is
smooth stem with hole for pin intended for installation and fixing on
extension.

Chokes are used in oil and gas wells. Chokes are intended for
flow rate control of fluids with solid particles content to 25 mg/l,
directed to side outlets of X-mas tree.

Gate valves body parts are forged which ensures their high strength and reliability.
Shutoff elements of gate valves are manufactured of various options – from high-strength and wear-
resistant stainless steel 440C or 4130 with nitrocarburizing for ordinary fluids as well as from 30ХМА
steel with wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant nickel based coating (plasma weld overlaying) which
assures tightness and long service life.Stem is sealed either with set of chevron
rings or with one ring of RVF type
manufactured by Busak+Shamban company
and together with two journal bearings
significantly reduces wheel torque.
The plant manufactures gate valves with
non-rising stem which significantly reduces
gate valve control torque and increases
packer service life.
Gate valve design provides stem back
seat which makes possible to change packer
under pressure and prevents stem outburst in
case of thread rupture in stem nut as well as
shear pin which prevents from rupture of
gate valve running parts in case control
torque increases above 22 kg/cm.
Gate valves are equipped with shutoff
element position indicator which allows to
precisely identify gate position. There is
additional valve in bottom part of the body
which makes possible cleaning gate valve
cavity without its removal from line.

SUBSURFACE SAFETY VALVE PN 5,000; 10,000
Design of subsurface safety valve is analogous to that of manually
operated gate valves except for design of bonnet, stem and gate, and
when necessary it provides replacing hydraulic actuator without gate
valve dismounting from X-mas tree.
Subsurface safety valve is controlled with single-acting hydraulic
actuator having automatic closing spring which provides gate valve
closure when pressure of control fluid drops in actuator cylinder. The
actuator has alternate manual operation for emergency opening/closing.
Manual operation of gate valve is the same as for manually operated
gate valves. Subsurface safety valves are intended for automated control
from control points.

Intended for remote control of fluid flow in manifolds of blowout
preventing equipment during drilling or well overhaul.
When hydraulic liquid is supplied to cavity under plunger, gate
valve closes, and when its is fed to cavity above plunger, gate valve
opens.
Hydraulic actuator working fluid is industrial oil I12А, I20А, I30А
under ambient temperature above minus 10оС or Hydraulic oil
VМG3, М8Gi under ambient temperature minus 10оС to
minus 40оС.
Connection thread for feeding working fluid to actuator: М20х1,5.

Intended for sealing wellhead when perforation job for casing strings is
performed.
Fluid – oil, gas, gas condensate, circulation fluid, water and their mixtures.
Manually operated. Gate valve body parts are forged which ensures
their high strength and reliability.
Gate valves shutoff elements are manufactured of various options from
high-strength and wear-resistant steels 440С or 4130 with nitrocarburizing
which assures gate tightness and serviceability for a long time.
Stem seal is made from chevron rings and together with two journal
bearings сsignificantly reduces wheel torque.
The plant manufacture gate valves with non-rising stem which significantly
reduces gate valve operation torque and extends packer service life.
In the gate valve, stem back seat is provided which allows to change
packer under pressure and prevents from stem outburst in
case of thread thread rupture in stem nut as well as shear pin
which prevents from rupture of gate valve running parts in
case control torque increases above 22 kgcm.
Gate valves are equipped with shutoff element position
indicator which allows to precisely identify gate position.
There is additional valve in bottom part of the body which
makes possible cleaning gate valve cavity without its removal
from line.

and М8Ги at ambient temperatures -100C to -400C can be used as control liquid for this hydraulic
powered actuator.
The pressure of control liquid in the hydraulic powered actuator equals 1,500 psi.

To be installed at pipelines that carry nitrogen-hydrogen-
ammonia mixtures to prevent backflow of medium.
When fluid flow coincides with the direction of the arrow,
it compresses spring and moves disc to allow fluid to pass
through. When fluid is supplied no longer, spring locks disc
and prevents back-flow of fluid.

CONTROL VALVE WITH PNEUMATIC ACTUATOR PN 64; 160
Designed for use in pipelines to control fluid flow rate and
includes control unit (valve itself) and diaphragm-and-spring
actuating mechanism.
Fluids: liquids, steams, gases.
Actuator that includes diaphragm and spring transforms the
change of the incoming pneumatic signal (0,2...1,0 bar) to
the movement of stem that is rigidly connected to valve gate.
Actuator operates with the change of hydraulic resistance of
valve that depends on the change of it’s bore versus movement
of gate. When there is no compressed air in the working
chamber then spring moves stem to an extreme position: the
upper one for the actuators that are opened in normal
position and the lower one for that closed.
The plant manufactures several types of control valves with
pneumatic actuator: from ПОУ-7 to ПОУ-12.
Actuators operate in regions with temperate, cold and
tropical climate.

Corporate structure of the plant includes forge-and-press shop consisting of separate sections and providing entire technological cycle for manufacture of various forged products, namely:
– BLANK SECTION– PUNCHING SECTION – OPEN DIE FORGING SECTION– HEAT TREATMENT SECTIONBlanks are heated in gas chamber furnaces and
in bogie hearth furnaces.Heat treated are steel grades within range from
low alloy steels to high alloy stainless steels.PUNCHING SECTION has effective cutting
equipment (ribbon saw, billet-and-bar shears etc) which completely provides production of stampings and forgings of steel.
OPEN DIE FORGING SECTION closed-die forgings from rolled metal.
The division includes:– steam-driven double-action forging hammers
with weight of dropping parts 2 tons, 5 tons and 16 tons. Wide range of hammer impact powers makes possible to produce forgings of various configurations and degree of complexity – from simple shapes of flange type to complicated body parts with weight from 3 to 280 kilograms.
DIVISION OF FREE FORGING includes the following equipment:
– mechanized complex on the basis of hydraulic forging press P154 with force 1250 tf for forging forgings from ingots and as-cast billets of large sections with their maximum initial weight to 5 tons.
Depending on shape, dimensions and forging grade, weight of forgings is within 250 to 3500 kg.
These are the following forgings:a) cubes with weight to 1500 kg, b) cylinders without holes – to 3500 kg,c) rolled rings with maximum outside diameter to
1450 mm,d) blind discs and discs with holes having maximum
outside diameter to 1200 mm, e) forgings in spacers (bushings with steps without
holes – upon agreement)f) linear forgings of round, square or rectangular
sections with area to 350 cm2 and length to 3 m. (limited with length of heat treatment furnace hearth),
Samples of open die forgings produced on hydraulic forging press.
– Steam-driven forging hammer of arch type with weight of dropping parts 2000 kg,
for production of forgings with weight to 100 kg.
These are the following forgings:a) blind plates and plates with holes having side
to 350 mm,b) forgings in spacer rings (dies) like bushings with
steps without holes,c) rolled rings with outside diameter to 500 mm,d) smooth and stepped shafts with length to
700 mm,e) discs, blind and with holes having outside
diameter to 400 mm,f) bands (squares) with section to 160 cm2.– Hammers with weight of dropping parts 400
and 1 000 kg for small forgings of various shapes wi th weight to 10 kg, toolholder forgings.
Improvement of re-forged metal structure and removal of residual stresses is carried out at heat-treatment division in gas bogie hearth furnace having load to 10 tons. The furnace is intended for primary heat-treatment of forgings – normalization, annealing, tempering, heating for austenitization.
Besides, there is HEAT TREATMENT SECTION at the plant for conduction of secondary heat treatment and surface impregnation to reach required mechanical properties of metals and for strengthening coatings application. The section has the following electric blast furnaces:
– for hardening of parts from up to 1,0000С (1,8320F),
– for tempering at 7000С (1,2920F) furnaces have oxidizing atmosphere and working chamber dimensions 1000 х 1000 mm,
– for parts nitrocarburizing under tempe ra ture up to 1,000С (1,8320F) working chamber dimensions – 650 х 650 mm,
– for parts nitriding under temperature up to 6000С (1,1120F) working chamber dimensions – 500 х 750 mm.
