For horizontalcylindrical tanksIf your tank is shaped like ahorizontal cylinder you mustfirst use the cylindricalconverter supplied.

First push the cylindrical converter (D)onto the base of the transmitter (B) andthen screw the power tube (A) onto thethread at the opposite end of thetransmitter. NOTE: Hand tighten only!

A number of sounds will be heard andthen after 25 seconds you will hear twobeeps. Immediately remove the powertube (A) and then remove thecylindrical converter (D) from thetransmitter (B).

Your transmitter has now beenconverted to read a cylindricalshaped tank.

Rectangular, vertical or cubic shaped tanksIf your steel or plastic tank looks likeone of these shapesmove on to Step 2.

Step 2. Tank preparation

Undrilled tanks Where drilling is required choose aposition on top of the tank surfacewhere the calibrating tube (C) andtransmitter (B) will be fitted. This must

be on a surface thatis at the samelevel and nohigher than any opening at the top of the tank (fillingpoint etc). Take care not to choose an area on whichwater could gather i.e. a dent/depression or a positiondirectly above any restricted area inside the tank.

Drill a hole in the place that you have selected on thetank’s top surface using a 30mm hole-saw.

Please note – it is important to keep all items dryduring installation

Assemble the calibrating tube (C) by firmly inserting the sections into eachother until they click together. Make it up to approximately the height ofyour tank*.

NOTE: Make sure that eachtube is properly ‘clipped’ together and will not separate.

The final tube must have no coupling section at the bottom.

Step 3. Tube assemblyand trimming

Once assembled hold the tube so that thetop is level with the top surface of the tankand cut the bottom off the tube at thepoint where you want the WatchmanNiveau to show Zero. This should beroughly 10% (at least three inches or75mm) up from the outlet pipe where theoil leaves the tank.

Take the calibrating tube (C), which youhave trimmed to length and push it intothe transmitter base (B). Hold the tube ina horizontal position to ensure there is noobstruction. Then screw the power tube(A) onto the transmitter (B).

You will hear a number of sounds andafter 25 seconds you will hear threebeeps. The Watchman Niveau has nowbeen calibrated for your tank’s size.

Immediately remove the power tube (A)from the transmitter (B).

Step 4. Calibrating

After calibration lower the calibratingtube (C) into the hole in the tank. Makesure that you keep the rubber gasket inplace – this provides a seal between thetank and the tube. Make sure that thetop of the tube is properly located intothe 30 mm hole.

Fit the transmitter (B) onto the top ofthe tube and push it down firmly. Usethe correct type of screws dependng onwhether the tank is steel or plastic to

tighten thetransmitter downfully onto the tube.

Plug the WatchmanDisplay (E) into amains electricalsocket and switch iton. The Watchman

display will show the serial number of theunit in single digits and then an ‘r’. Makea note of this number and enter this, along with the other informationrequested, on the Guarantee card forreturn to Sensor Systems Watchman Ltd.

Lastly, fit the power tube (A) onto thethread on the top of the transmitter (B).NOTE: Hand-tighten only! Finally viewthe display (E) – this will change fromthe ‘r’ to the level in the tank within afew minutes.

Step 5. Fitting

Cut off the tube toestablish ‘Zero‘ level

Pre-drilled tanks There may already be a 30mm pre-drilled opening inthe tank top and possibly a tube fitted – if so, removethe cover and dispose of the tube.

*Notes for calibrating the height of your tankWhen the fluid level in your tank drops below the end of the calibratingtube (C) this will register Zero on your Watchman Niveau. The shorter thetube is cut the more reserve there will be in the tank when at Zero.

If when you assemble the calibrating tube (C) it’s too short for your tank’sheight / diameter, please contact Sensor Systems to obtain additional longersections.

Step 1. Identify theshape of your tank

OperationOn start-up the transmitter will transmit the level every 6seconds for 10 1⁄2 minutes and then, in normal operation, will update the level once every hour or within 15 minutesof a level change. If the Watchman display has not heardfrom its transmitter for more than 24 hours the numberdisplayed will ash to indicate that it is older than 24hours and may not now be valid.

How to change Power Tube batteryor reboot your system1 Switch your Watchman Niveau display o and on

again – you will see the serial number displayedfollowed by “ r “ standing for rest or reset

2 Unscrew and remove the Power Tube from yourtransmitter, wait for 2 minutes and then screw on yournew Power Tube (if replacing). The action of tting thePower Tube to the transmitter will reboot the system

3 Within a few minutes your Watchman Niveau willdisplay your tank level

Remember to dispose of your old power tubethoughtfully and in accordance with local regulations. The power tube contains alkaline cells and must not beexposed to excessive heat or put in a re.
