Jayant OCP is situated at a distance of 4.2 km.which is at a safe distance from the Ballia Nallah.(The safe distance is not specified in the EMP).Modification of the natural drainage has not beencarried out in the expansion project.

Topsoil (soil & sandy soil) is available in patcheswhich is generally 1.0 to 1.50 m thick.Top soil removed is stored properly at earmarkedplace. These dumps (of top soil) is not kept active. It is used for reclamation of dumps and developmentof green belt. The detail of top soil stacked is as follows:

» The summary of study at Nigahi project is asfollows:(i) The mine water has been effectively

utilized dust suppression, and otherindustrial water needs.

(ii) The impact of mining on ground watersystem is negligible.

(iii) The mine water is free from pollutant.(iv) To reduce the TSS , the mine water is

discharged after passing through thesedimentation tanks.

(v) After cessation of mining , part ofquarry area will be reclaimed withhighly permeable OB material.

(vi) In post mining scenario, the rechargeand source potential in core zone willbe much higher than the existing.

~ At Jayant mine also ZERO DISCHARGEconcept has been implemented since Dec'14.The mine water is used for industrial purposeslike spraying purposes , CHP cleaning andHEMM washing etc.

~ Treated effluent of ETP is recycled for use inCHP for dust suppression and in HEMMworkshop for washinq purposes .
