OU wrestles at Northern Colorado on Sunday, Jan. 29 before going on the road to South Dakota State (Feb. 3) and Northern Iowa (Feb. 5). u Four Sooners appear in the latest InterMat polls, including No. 13 Davion Jeffries (149 pounds), No. 11 Clark Glass (157 pounds), No. 11 Yoanse Mejias (165 pounds) and No. 19 Brad Johnson (197 pounds).

SOONERS VS. RANKED TEAMSThe Sooners have wrestled six top-20 opponents this season, including four in the top 10 at the time of competition. In January, the Sooners are 2-1 against top-20 teams, downing then-No. 5 Missouri and then-No. 19 Arizona State this month before falling to No. 5 Virginia Tech in the Virginia Duals finals.

BIG 12 IN THE RANKINGSThe Sooners are one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the NWCA/USA Today top-25.Oklahoma State lands in the poll’s No. 1 position, while the Sooners hold the No. 14 spot for the second consecutive week. South Dakota State comes in at No. 19 and North Dakota State moved up one spot this weekt to No. 23.

LARSON LOOKING FOR CAREER PIN RECORDRedshirt senior Ross Larson will look for career pin No. 50 on Friday night against the Cyclones. Larson, who leads all current Division I wrestlers in career pins with 49, has registered 63 percent of his career wins by fall. The Ankeny, Iowa, native needs just 10 more pins this seaon to break the current OU career record of 58, set by Dan Chaid.

MEJIAS MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACTClark Glass’s drop to 157 pounds made way for junior Yoanse Mejias to make an appearance in the Oklahoma lineup at 165 pounds. Mejias, a transfer from Northern Iowa Area Community College, made his first start in the OU lineup on Jan. 8 against Missouri and holds a 5-1 record since then, including wins over then-No. 16 Seldon Wright of Old Dominion and then-No. 8 Dylan Cottrell of West Virginia. Mejias made his first apperance in the InterMat rankings on Jan. 17 at No. 14 before moving up to No. 11 in this week’s poll.

SOONERS TAKE SECOND AT VIRGINIA DUALSThe Sooners went 3-1 at the Virginia Duals, downing Old Dominion, UT Chattanooga and No. 19 Arizona State before falling to No. 5 Virginia Tech in the championship dual. Mike Longo (141 pounds) went undefeated for the Sooners, tallying two wins by major decision in the tournament.
