i have been so interested into music since childhood. i learned to play the guitar when i was in the 4th grade in elementary, by
then i was already relatively good in playing. i learned to move to drums and keyboards when i was in high school then the
passion developed in college
years.
up to now, the passion remains. i dont understand. being into music is so rewarding, at least for me, but not materially fulfilling.
i am an instructor in a local university(SMU)but from time to time, i find myself into gigs outside the university. i find myself
performing in bars, debuts, weddings and other occasions. and sometimes i ask myself, do i need to do this? it is simply passion.

well as authors and people in ethics say, passions are great, so great that they modify our actions. we do things sometimes
because of passion.
are passions useless? not at all. the joy and happiness i get from what i am doing are priceless. the friends that you meet, new
faces, new acquaintances, new learning experience each time.

you cannot please everyone, but at least every performance brings you a bulk of new friends, who may, to some extent, have

every performance is a new event. we may be playing the same music, at the same place, with the same atmosphere, but a single
event is totally different from the rest. thats what makes me so excited every time i join a gig. four, five, or even eight hours of
performing, name it, the passion is the impetus that drives me to like and love what i am doing. i will continue doing this until the

For God so loved the world that he gavehis only son so the Bible says. I never really understood this, until I became a
father.
When I see my children, hailey and harvey, i tell to myself, I would do anything to keep these kids away from harmi would no t
let anything or anyone hurt them, i would do anything for them.
Children are gifts from the creatorit follows that fatherhood is a gift from God. Many want to become fathers but they simply
could not ironically some are gifted with fatherhood, yet they dont want their being a father.

faithPosted: June 4, 2011 intheology and religion

Faith for John Hick (a philosopher) is our positive and active response to a revealing God. This
definition, if not a description, of faith rings a bell and gives a problem in mind that lies in the part where it says to a
revealing God. Where, how, when do I see the revelation of God? That could be a good point for reflection. Thats up to you.
I would like to describe faith as a relationship. Your relationship with your parents, your brothers and sisters, your wife or
husband, friends and relatives. Each of these relationships needs expressions. Just like this relationships, faith is a relationship
between wo/man and the Sacred. This too needs expression.
People in the world belong to different belief systems or religions, and therefore they differ in faith expressions. The obvious
problem here is the disrespect that exists between and among members of different religions. One who belongs to religion x
might judge the practice of another who belongs to religion y, as the latters practice is not acceptable, or not found in the Bible,
or for any other reasons.
Let us put it this way. I have a relationship with my wife. And that relationship has its expressions, verbal, tactile, or physical
expressions. For instance, we call each other by our pet names. Now, if other couples do not call each other by pet names, do I
have the right to judge them and say they are wrong for not having the expression I and my wife have?

Essentially, relationship with the Divine comes in different expressions, depending on the circumstances one is into, cultural
orientation, tradition in the family, and religion. So does one have the right to judge other peoples expression of faith as wrong
insofar as the their practice, is not a practice is not in his religion?
This exactly the problem in some denominations (needless to mention). In most instances, in their evangelical channels, they
spend most of their programs saying things against other churches as the latters practices are deviant.
The bottom line is respect. No religion has the monopoly of the TRUTH, and no religion is over and above the other. St. Paul in
his 1st letter to the Corinthians, ch 10 v 17 says that we are one bread and one body
The respect of each others dignity extends to the respect of each others faith expression.
Re-ProgrammingPosted: June 2, 2011 inphilosophy

If something goes wrong with your PC, You can do either of these, (1) do a DIY (do-it-yourself)
reporgramming, fixing whatever, or (2) call on an expert to reprogram it for you
What about if something terribly wrong in your life? Is it also a matter of either (1) doing a DIY reprogramming, fixing whatever,
or (2) asking the expert to help you out of the wrong? The safeanswer seems to be in three(3) words. Yes And No!
Mistakes in life are mostly self done and therefore consequences are mostly self-caused. Thus, the question on what went wrong
is known by the human agent, and therefore, the question on what should be done could be answered by the same human agent.
The only problem is, are we willing to make the reparations? We know what went wrong, and we know what should be done, but
are we willing to do what it takes to do what should be done?

There are however things that go beyond our capacity that we cannot, by ourselves, repair. We need other people, (both friends
and enemies) for our re-programming, and in many instances, these people are the experts.
How I wish, life is just like reprogramming a computer.just hit the correct keys and correct commands. But life is so great so
much so that when we commit errors, we cannot simply reprogram it by just hitting the correct keys and right commands. Lifes
errors entail great consequences, not only for us but for people dear to us.We can reprogram life but the consequences will
always be there It is here where decisions in life play a great role.
But, can reprogramming life be an option for us who err? Yes of course , and it is never too late to reprogram life. There are only
two best times to do the reprogramming, (1) 4 years ago, and (2) today.

Everything that happens in life comes once in a lifetime.

The Ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus was often quoted saying no one can enter the same river
twice. Reality check, is it really impossible for man to enter the same river twice? Can I not enter the same river twice, or as
many times as I want? I sure can, or can I?
Many things happen to us every single day. Some things come to us frequently, but indeed the first experience of it is never the
same with the next event experiencing the same.
People come and go, and that frequently happens. But the encounter of a certain person indeed differs from the encounter one had
with other persons, hence we have the idea of asignificant person. Significant persons are those who leave special and great
dents on our humanity.
Thus anything that happens to us happens once in a lifetime, at least for me.
When you meet someone, the meeting will always be once in a lifetime. You may meet the same person in the future, in the same
place and in exactly the same fashion, the person is never the same again.
Which is why, meeting people is one of the most significant experiences in life. The eventuality of meeting a certain person is
once in a lifetime, we have to treasure it the best way we can, not just to treasure the meeting itself, but more than that is the
person whom we meet in the encounter. Show how much you love that person, for life is too short to hide affection

BEING AND TIME
I got this idea from one of the works of the great modern philosopher Martin Heidegger. Being and time:

Upon waking up, the first thing we people do is to check and ask what time is it? We are so dead conscious about time, no
matter what we do, and no matter what status we have, teachers, students, parents, children, businessmen/women, clients,
doctors, patients and the list goes on and on. The common denominator of these all is the four letter word T-I-M-E.
But what is time? Does it make sense to say: I have no time for this, Its time to move on, Time is gold, Time to go and so on?
Does it even make sense to think of time in the context of beginning and end?
Even the teacher (Qoheleth) in the book of Ecclesiastes 3:2-8, speaks of time. Theres time (season) for everything, he says,
time to give birth, time to die ..and so on.
But is not the thought of time futile? Thinking about time in the past-present-future mode is, I believe, vain. For the moment one
says there is past, there is present and there is a future, we ask when exactly is the past, when exactly is the present and when
exactly is the future. Are not all these terms absurd? At least for me they are. One may say that the past is that which happened
before the now, and that could be validated by the use of time (in wrist watches, clocks, calendar, or what have you). But are not
all these ways of measuring time arbitrary? By arbitrary, I mean, it all depended on mans creative thinking? Objectively, who
said so that today is May 24, 2011. The termsMay, 24, and 2011, arent all these man made? Because if we all agree and set our
dates today to December 8, few days before what we Christians (mostly Roman Catholics) believe to be the birth of Jesus, for us
to hasten the Christmas gifts and bonuses, we can do that. Its man made. So is there such a thing as past-present-future mode of
time?
This goes with the idea of the history. Let me ask, when did history start? Are not the concepts of BC (now BCE) and AD (now
ACE) attached to years man made? Still they are. So the bottom line, are there really such things as past present and future in
time? Or better yet, is there time?
What is in my mind right now is that, all these moments in time, past, present and future, happen all at once.what we call the
present is just a continuity of what we call the past, and the what we call the future is simply a sequel of what we call the present.
Which is why, when a person is born, he already has an access to the ultimatefuture his death.
Human existence must not be compartmentalized by the different aspects of time. The entire phenomenon of human existence
happens all at once. Thus, there is no JUAN in past-present-future mode. There only IS Juan.
