Olasz nemzeti ünnepItaly’s National Day

Fontos dátum június 2. az olasz történelemben. 1946-ban ezen a napon tartott népszavazáson döntött az olasz nép, hogy a monarchia helyett a köztársaságot választja országa új államformájául. Az olasz nők is ezen a napon szavazhattak először. Az Olasz Köztársaság szü-letését ünnepelte Budapesten az a több mint 1500 vendég, akik jelen lehettek az őexc. Massimo Rustico és felesége által rendezett nagysza-bású fogadáson, a Várkert Bazár összes termében, köztük a magyar politikai és társadalmi élet személyiségei, a diplomáciai testület tagjai és a népes olasz kolónia képviselői. Az ünnep díszvendége dr. Trócsányi László igazságügyi miniszter volt, a kormány képviseletében.

Nagyon nehéz még felsorolni is azt a sok igazi olasz meglepetést, ötletes szórakozást és kreatív játékot, ami a vendégeket várta az est folyamán és nagy sikert aratott a résztvevők körében. Nem beszélve az olasz konyháról, amelynek szinte minden különlegességét a büfé-asztalokon kínálták, természetesen az olasz borokkal együtt. Elisme-rés illeti a sok nagyvonalú szponzor támogatását. Erre az estére Itália néhány órára Budapestre költözött.

2nd June is an important date in Italian history. In a referendum held on this day in 1946 people decided to choose republic instead of the monarchy as the new form of state. Italian women could also vote for the first time that day. In Budapest the birth of the Italian Repub-lic was celebrated by more than 1500 guests present at the grand recep-tion held by H.E. Massimo Rustico and his wife. The event took place in the halls of the Várkert Bazaar and was attended by the repre-sentatives of Hungarian political and social life, the members of the diplomatic corps and the representatives of the great Italian colony. The guest of honour was Dr László Trócsányi, Minister of Justice, representing the Hungarian Government.

It is very hard to count all the genouin Italian surprises, imagina-tive entertainments and creative games that awaited the guests throughout the evening, and met a great success with the participants. Not to mention the Italian cuisine, of which nearly every speciality was offered on the buffet tables, of course together with Italian wines. The generous support by the sponsors should be highly appreciated. This evening Italy moved to Budapest for a few hours.
