    The Quema House is the ancestral home of the Quema family inthe Philippines. Built in the 1820s, it is a historic landmark inthe town ofVigan, Ilocos Surin the Philippines. The town itself wasdeclared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

    The Masjid (Mosque) of Simunul, Tawi Tawi is considered the oldest in thePhilippines. The old structure is actually inside this building. The burialground of Sheik Al Makdum, the missionary who brought Islam to this part

    of Asia lies just beside this mosque. As a Muslim, it was a priviledge tohave visited this place on my way to Sabah.

    Paoay Church is the Roman Catholic parish church of themunicipality ofPaoay,Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Completed in 1710,

    the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by theenormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. In 1993, thechurch was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Siteas one bestexamples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines. Paoay church isprime example ofEarthquake Baroque architecture, which is the Philippineinterpretation of the European Baroque adapted to the seismic condition ofthe country. Destructive earthquakes are common and have destroyedearlier churches all throughout the country.[1]Aside from Baroque, thechurch facade also exudes Javanese architecture reminiscentofBorobudurofJava.

    The Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica, officially known as

    the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and informally

    as Manila Cathedral, is a prominent Latin Rite Roman

    Catholic basilica located in Manila, Philippines, honoring the Blessed Virgin

    Mary as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, the PrincipalPatroness of

    the Philippines. Located in the Intramuros district ofManila, it was originally

    a parish church owned and governed by the diocese ofMexico in 1571,

    until it became a separate diocese on February 6, 1579 upon the issuance

    of a Papal bull Illius Fulti Praesido by Pope Gregory XIII. The cathedral

    serves both as the Prime Basilica of the Philippines and highest seat of the

    archbishop in the country. The cathedral was damaged and destroyedseveral times since the original cathedral was built in 1581. The eighth and

    current incarnation of the cathedral was completed in 1958.
