11 November 2010 "Friendship is born at that moment when
one person says to another, 'What! You too?
I thought I was the only one." - C.S. Lewis
Yesterday I had the most wonderful opportunity
to go swimming with our students involved in the
final week of Intensive Swimming for 2010.
It gives me a „proud buzz‟ to see kids having a go
and really trying no matter their personal fear.
I heard recently a prophetic statement about
how “if we overcome the 5 minutes of FEAR in
anything we reach a new level of achievement.”
Water Safety is a personal passion after years
of Surf Lifesaving in my younger days and nearly
drowning more than once while surfing.
We cannot underestimate how necessary it is
for all children to be water safe!!!
Thank you to the school staff involved for their
encouragement, nurturing and physical efforts in
raising the personal safety of our students.
PS….. I‟m exhausted!!!!
SRC FUNDRAISER
Tomorrow we ask that you send your children
along with a GOLD COIN for our final SRC
fundraiser. We are having a coin drive. Prizes
for the longest line and the greatest amount
raised. Thank you for supporting our students in
learning „COMPASSION‟.
Yours in Public Education, John Harwin

BASKETBALL
In the early game the Yellow team was
outclassed by the Green team 60 to 22.
Best player for the Green team was Yellow
number 5. Highlights of the game were:
Oscar using his head to get the ball closer to the
basket, Jarrod‟s three attempts, in a row, to pass
the ball over a taller opponent and Olivia‟s impact
on the game when she replaced Jarrod late in the
third quarter. The sharp shooters were Sarah (8),
Oscar (6), Tristan (7), Olivia (4) and Jarrod (4).
Well played to both teams.
In the senior games the Hotondo Hurricanes (50)
swamped the Knights (12). The Knights struggled
without Nick who was sitting on the sidelines
waiting for his painted fingernails to dry. However
Olivia (2) and Sarah (2) had outstanding games for
the Knights whilst Tristan (1) did his big bad wolf
„impersonations‟. Daniel did well in his comeback
game and James (4) was a „hot-shot‟ for the
Hotondo Hurricanes.
