OLE! Week 2020 Year 9 and 10 Information Package OLE! Week Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October has been given a brand-new look in 2020. Students will be based on campus and will also experience the natural beauty of our surrounding Southern Highlands. Each year group will enjoy a diverse week of activities, aimed at making them feel connected and inspired. Oxley has enlisted the support of Lands Edge Foundation and other education providers to create an exciting week for all students in Year 7 to Year 11. We will also utilise the expertise of our College Staff. The OLE! Cup will kick off the week with a student-driven Arts Competition on Monday & Tuesday involving: - House Art - House Dance - House Band - House LEGO - House Drama - House Touch Football Student performances and pieces will be exhibited at the conclusion of Tuesday with points contributing toward their House. Information about the other OLE! Week activities are detailed below. Each day of OLE! Week will occur during normal school hours and Berrima Buses will run as usual during this week. Students must provide their own sun hat and sunscreen each day. OLE! Week 2020 Year 9 and 10 Information Package

OLE! Week Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October has been given a brand-new look in 2020.

Year 9 and 10 Projects & Outdoor Adventure

Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 October 2020

Outdoor Adventure Wednesday 14 October

Year 9 will participate in an Adventure Race Day including paddle craft skills, initiative activities, hiking and biking. These activities will take place on Bray Fields, Bong Bong Track, the Wingecarribee River and the Cecil Hoskins Reserve.

Year 10 will spend the day hiking near Mittagong. They will start at Lake Alexandra Reserve and walk the trails around Mount Alexandra, Forty Foot Falls and the Box Vale Track. They will get to see towering eucalypts, rivers, creeks and man-made tunnels in this beautiful natural environment.

The following is a list of choices for Year 9 and 10. These activities will be run on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October during OLE! Week. This document is for your information only. Students will be sent a separate email and jotform to make their selections.

Foundation Coaching Courses

Achieve your Level 1 Coaching Qualification in your chosen ISA Sport. Includes theory, content and practical assessment by a qualified member of Staff. A great way to learn more about your favourite Sport and get a job as a coach in the future.

Landscape Painting at Fitzroy Falls

Immerse yourself in a landscape art-making project! Working at Fitzroy Falls you will learn the skills to capture this magnificent waterfall and its natural backdrop. Works will be exhibited and published to celebrate the efforts of each artist.

Bronze Medallion Lifesaving

Achieve your Bronze Still Water Lifesaving certification and develop a level of knowledge, technique and physical skills to undertake a safe water rescue. This programme will involve theory and practical assessment by qualified RLS representatives. Students must be able to comfortably swim 400m non-stop.

First Aid Certification

Achieve your Level 1 Introductory First Aid Course through Highlands First Aid. The course will focus on CPR resuscitation and emergency response. An excellent qualification for every person and a required certification for a range of different jobs.

Graphic Design T-Shirt Competition

Learn how to use graphic design and screen-printing to ‘say something to the world’. Refine your skills with ADOBE Illustrator and Photoshop to create your own message on a piece of wearable art.

Jewellery Making Workshop

A hands-on workshop where students will learn the fundamentals of silver jewellery making and get to make one or more pieces, a ring, pendant or keyring design.

Japanese & French Food Culture

Build your appreciation for Japanese and French culture through the foods and customs of each country. A gastronomic journey to bring both cultures to life.

Learn the skills of directing, shooting and editing your own short film using software such as ADOBE Premiere Pro and iMovie. Essential skills for all budding movie makers.

Develop your skills and match fitness with this two-day intensive golf programme. Students will engage in training by golf professionals and play at courses in the local area.

Learn Avatar 3D character development. Based on the imaginings of animation artists, students will develop both drawing and sculptural techniques in order to create their own version of themselves.
