Stand UP America!America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we
falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we
destroyed ourselves.
Stand UP America!
Abraham Lincoln
The problems we face todaydidnt happen overnight and theywont be solved overnight. But,we can turn things around if wesimply resolve to work together.
Buy American Made products andsupport the country where youlive: not one 7,000 miles away. Ifyou cant find a product to fit yourneeds thats made in America,
then buy from countries that havetrue free trade with America.Dont send your hard earnedAmerican dollars to countrieswhose ships arrive here full butreturn home empty due to unfairtrade restrictions.
Finally, dont let a few pennies ordollars sway your decision onwhat product to buy. Considerthose pennies and dollars aninvestment in your country. Thereturn on your investment will bea strong, prosperous America forgenerations to come.
In the midst of everything that ishappening in the world today, letsalways remember what trulymatters most. Take time to enjoyfriends and family at everyopportunity. Make time to helpthose less fortunate than yourself
just because you can. Honor thosewho defend and protect our greatnation both at home and abroad.
Most importantly, invest your timeand resources in our children
because they will lead us into thefuture. Through our love, insuringa great education and leading daily
by our example we can teach ourchildren how to claim and securetheir birthright; tobe Americans.
Proudly Made in America
Americans must wake up to a verysimple truth; if my neighbordoesnt have a job today, then
sooner or later I wont have oneeither. It is time for all of us torealize we are part of one big 300million member family: We areAmericans.
For generations, Made inAmerica signified the quality, durability and innovation of the
product that bore the mark. Ibelieve that is still true today.
Foolish companies, run by veryshortsighted management haveturned Made in America into arare sight these days. They coldlymove production overseas in thename of saving a few lousy
pennies on their products with noregard for the American workeror our country. They tell the laidoff worker who cant pay themortgage, the bills or even feedtheir families that it isnt
personal: its just business. Tosome it may just be business butas an American, I take that
personally.
I believe it is time, right now, tostop and reverse the trend ofmoving American jobs overseas. Itis time for each of us to rememberwe are all in this together and ouractions and decisions ultimatelyhave an effect on each other. Thechanges we need require you, meand our 300 million fellow citizensto do whats right for America.
I am proud of the fact that everyOliver connecting rod is made inAmerica, from 100% Americanmaterials by the finest craftsman in
the world: Americans.
We dont do the majority of thework overseas and then theminimum amount here to qualifyas Made in America. We alsodont try to confuse the buyer withstatements such as Engineered inAmerica to imply an overseas
produced product is somehowbetter.
The fact is, we build what arearguably the best connecting rods inthe world and we do itallright herein our country: America.
Wake UP America!Wake UP America!

Lube Tubes option reduces pin bushing failure...without compromising rod beam strength!
Pressure feeding lubrication to the wrist pin is
not a new concept. But until now connectingrods typically produced for racing applicationwere not particularly successful candidates.
The HBeam design doesnt work...without producing unacceptable side effects.Because the oil passage must be drilledthrough the center of the rod section, thehole size is dramatically limited. Oil flowthrough a center drilled oil passage can beshut off completely during the power stroke.
Plus, beam strength can besignificantly affected unlessthe center section isthickened to compensate. In the end you get a heavierrod that doesnteffectively lubricate.

Bolt Instructions
IMPORTANT BOLT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE.
Before bolting the oil pan on, set a torque wrench at 50 lb/ft for 7/16 bolt (40 lb/ft for 3/8 bolt, 30lb/ft for
5/16 bolt), and check all rod bolts. If any bolt turns before reaching the preset torque, it has not been
properly tightened. You must loosen these bolts and tighten them properly.
Effective: 5-8-09
DO NOT USE METAL STAMPSto number rods. Metalstamps may disturb the roundness of the rod bore. Paint
toolmakers layout dye on the rod and cap, then inscribe
numbers.
NEVERuse bolts to draw the cap down on rod. Locate
cap dowel sleeves into the counterbores of the rod.
Then, CAREFULLYtap cap into place.
Cleanall parts thoroughly to remove all dirt and foreign
oils. Spread Oliver bolt lube on threads and under head
of bolt and tighten per instructions below.
Stretch:While the stretch method has become widely ac-
cepted as the most accurate method of obtaining proper
clamping force, the method of obtaining proper stretch
has been confusing. To obtain proper stretch you cannot
as it might be called chase the stretch, meaning turn-
ing the bolt in small steps to come to the recommended
stretch. After 50 lb/ft to 60 lb/ft of torque, the clamp load
of the threads is getting so great; you are turning the
head of the bolt before the threads start to turn. Thus the
bolt is not being turned 1 to 1 (head of bolt to threads of
bolt). This can result in TWIST FRACTURING and /or TWISTYIELDING the shank of the bolt leading to premature
failure.
Torque Anglemethod has proven to be one of the most
effective methods to assure against premature failure
within the fasteners load capacity. Using the followingexample you will achieve maximum strength within th
fasteners load capacity.
Example: Torque Angle ProcedureBolt Type Recommended Stretch Torque & Angle
7/16-Oliver/ARP WSB .0053 to .0057 30lb/ft + 42 de
With clean dry threads on rods and bolts apply recom-
mended bolt lubricant to threads in rods and on bolts
and under head of bolt.
Seat bolt by tightening 3 to 5 times to recommended
spec. applying lube each time. Zero stretch gauge on rlaxed bolt no torque. Tighten to recommended torqu
and angle pull the angle in one full movement.
Check Stretch If stretch comes up short of specificat
(.005 for above example) use the following method to
obtain proper stretch.
Back bolt off and relube threads and under head.
Reset initial bolt torque.
Add 2 to 4 degrees of angle to specification making su
to pull in one steady pull.
Check Stretch
If short of desired spec. repeat steps 5 thru 7.
Remember to pull in one full motion. Once you stop; th
twisting force to overcome the load on the threads is s
great, it may result in a TWIST FAILUREto shank of bol

Three step tightening procedure using the stretch method
Rod Bearing Preparation
Step 1After cleaning and visual inspec-
tion of all components, lubricate
the bolt threads and under the
head using the recommended
lubricant.
Step 1Remove connecting rod from
sealed pouch.
Step 4Thoroughly clean bearing. Use
Micrometer with a ball end at-tachment to measure the shell
thickness. Select shells that will
provide appropriate clearance.
Install shells into connecting rods.
Using care to align the hollow
dowels with the mating counter
bore; tap the rods cap into posi-
tion with an appropriate hammer.
Step 2Bring the caps into alignment and
tap into place, before installing
bolts. Do NOT use the bolts to pull
caps into position.
Step 2Thoroughly clean the rods to
remove the rust preventative.
Step 5Apply the recommended lubri-
cant on the threads and under the
bolt head.
Step 3Seat the pointed ends of the
stretch gauge into the bolt
dimples. Adjust the gauge so it
has approximately .050 preload.
Align the needle to 0. With shims
installed, tighten until prescribedstretch is achieved.
Step 3Apply machinist dye to the side of
the rod. Lightly mark 1 to 8 with a
metal scribe. (Note return policy on
scribed parts.)
Step 6Use the stretch or torque angle meth
od. Using a dial bore gauge, measure
the inside of the bearing to verify th
oil clearance will be correct. You are
now ready to install the pistons.
DO NOT USE THE BOLTS TO
PULL THE CAP INTO POSITION.

Tightening procedure using the torque & angle method
Step 1Install rod and piston assembly
into engine block. Using great
care, be sure hollow dowels are
aligned with the mating rod
counter bores. Attach rod cap and
tap into place with an appropriatehammer.
DO NOT USE THE BOLTS TO PULL
THE CAP INTO POSITION.
Step 4After completing this process on all 16 rod bolts, set a quality torque
wrench to 50 ft/lbs. Check torque on all rod bolts to verify that no
bolts will turn. If you find any that turn, even slightly, the angle portion
of the tightening process was not successful and the bolt is still at 30
ft/lbs.
YOU MUST COMPLETELY LOOSEN THIS BOLT. RETIGHTEN TO
30FT/LBS AND REPEAT THE TORQUE ANGLE PROCEDURE.
Step 2Place shim stock between the
rod and crankshaft thrust faces.
This will help support the rod cap
and prevent distortion in the rod
housing bore during the tighten-
ing process. Seat the threads andsnug up the lash by torquing the
bolts to 30 ft./lbs
Step 3Install the appropriate size wrench
to the male side of the Torque/An-
gle gauge. Attach a breaker bar on
the female side of the gauge. Nowengage a rod bolt with the gauge
assembly and rotate the stop arm
of the Torque/Angle gauge clock-
wise until it makes contact with the
side of the rod (or any other solid
place on the engine). Rotate the
outside ring of the gauge clock-
wise until the pointer aligns at zero.
Tighten bolt until pointer aligns at
the degree mark specified in the
instruction.
