European Union’s agenda of Brexit and the Sudan Crisis as represented in the Security Council Committee. This was an enriching exercise for the escort teacher and the students as they gained more insight into the political and foreign affairs sites of various countries.

ISRO VISIT

This initiative by the school for the students of Class XII of the Science stream to visit ISROon 23rd July 2016 was part of the “Skills Initiative’ to garner interest in the institute. ISAC which housed the original satellite of ‘Apple’ and also the communication network between the headquarters and the satellite was an eye opener. The students were also privileged to witness at close quarters the mechanism behind the ‘to-be-launched satellites’ being indigenously built. The students were briefed by the General Manager of ISITE the importance of Satellite India – wherein satellites are being built uniquely for the Indian setup.

MEDREICH LAB

The visit to Medreich Lab at Hoskote is part of the ‘learning through visual aids’ offsite educational visit on August 6th 2016. It was an initiative by the school to help students comprehend the chemical terminologies used in the preparation of medicine. It was an eye opener to students for career options in the pharmaceutical industry.

VISVESVARAYA INDUSTRIAL & TECHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM

The students of Class IX – X participated in various activities hosted by VITM in commemoration of the “Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day’. The students participated in an open end Quiz competition on ‘Nuclear Power’ and in a skit competition ‘Atom the double sided weapon’. The event culminated with the students participating in a ‘Relay Seminar’ where a “Still Model’ of a nuclear power plant had to

CCA ACTIVITIES

As part of the holistic development of the student CCA Co-curricular Activities for students studying in classes VI – XII is takes place every Saturday under the guidance of the teachers-in-charge. Competitions ranging from Music to Painting, Fine arts and Literary activities like debates, spell bee, poetry recitation and dramatics are performed. The competitions are held “House wise’ as a challenge and helps cull out individual talent in the school. Eminent judges from the respective fields are invited to ensure high standards of participation in the competition.

DNMUN 2016

Airforce School Hebbal participated in the DNMUN 2016 at DPS School Bagalur on June 30th – July1st 2016. This is a mock representation of the United Nations representation with fixed agendas and Committees. In this maiden initiative for the school three students were selected to research and present Position papers on the

be presented. The relay comprised of - Preparation in Nuclear power plant- Operation of the same and moving onto –the Preservation of the model in an exciting nail biting finish. The objective is to instil curiosity and encourage students to pursue careers in pure sciences.

PES UNIVERSITY

AMATEUR SCIENTIST CONTEST

People’s Education Society (PES) is a niche platform for young minds to showcase their forte in various branches of science at a professional level.

The fest promises to provide a platform for the best working projects created by students between VIII – XII standards from various institutions across India in Science Projects, Model Making and Quiz contest. Our students are participating in a competition called ‘ROBALDO’ which is a Robo Soccer wherein the students have to make the virtual robots which will be controlled by an Android App using the Bluetooth technology .

CSI YOUNG TALENT SEARCH IN COMPUTER PROGRAMMING

Students of Class XII participated in the CSI Young Talent Search which is a computer programming contest for students to explore the wide area of computer programming and also enrich their knowledge about technology. The Regional level competition is much awaited as the winning team will represent India at SEARCC International Schools Software Competition 2016 which will be held abroad.

SUNDRY EVENTS

SCOUTS & GUIDES

The Scouts and Guides was launched in April 2016 with 120 students and 3 teachers. In the Primary wing the Cubs and Bulbuls enrolled 90 students and 2 teachers under the Scout Masters Mrs Premkumari and Mr Pradeep. The selection process was conducted through a written examination with over 200 students participating. The selected students were enrolled briefed and then inducted into the troop. The troop was divided into patrols with a leader and an assistant leader. Scouts and Guides have to maintain records of all the activities for example ‘Good turn Diary’ ‘Cooking’ ‘and ‘Hiking’ on bikes.

ELECTIONEERING & INVESTITURE

In order to give the students a feel of the universal adult franchise, School Elections were conducted on 2nd July 2016. The enthusiastic students had to come up with election symbols, promulgate and campaign for themselves in order to garner support from the student and teacher population of the school. It was amazing to see the prowess of the would be leaders as they left no stone unturned till D day of the elections. The school had the rare privilege of using the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in a historic first for the school.

The Investiture Ceremony of the School Council Members of AFSH was held on 20th July 2016. It was a defining moment for newly elected members Head Boy Dheeraj Nair and the Head Girl Pooja Kumari Rathore. The occasion was graced by the school Executive Director Squadron Leader Shalu Chandel who administered the Oath, honoured them with insignia and encouraged them to shoulder their duties with responsibility and integrity. The event was witnessed by the Principal Mrs. Renu Singh the parents of the newly elected school council members, the faculty and students.

AFWWA DECLAMATION (ENG & HINDI) & QUIZ CONTEST 2016

As a precursor to the Airforce Day celebrations celebrated annually on Eighth(8) October various competitions are held for the wards of Air warriors studying in both the Airforce and Kendriya Vidyalaya schools across the country. In the English

and Hindi AFWWA Declamation Contest 2016 the winners from our school in the Regional Finals were

Ms SAMRIDHI BHARDWAJ (XII Commerce) and Ms GUNPREET KAUR (XII Science).

In the AFWWA INTRA COMMAND QUIZ 2016 the HQTC team secured the Third position and ARYAN DEVRANI (X A) will represent the Training Command at the National Level Finals in New Delhi Finals. The other participants were Pranav of Class X , Spandana of Class IX and Sieya Bhatia of Class VIII .

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS

The Alumni of Airforce school had initiated a Scholarship (2016-17) for the unequally privileged students of the school as part of their CSR Initiative

(Corporate Service Responsibility) to society. A Written and Interview process was initiated for ten (10) students of both the Commerce and Science streams. It was very extremely hard to decide the most deserving candidate as each case was special. Ms POOJA KUMARI RATHORE was the lucky winner of this scholarship.

AWARENESS PROGRAMS

As part of the awareness and safety drive in the school, the Medical Team from the Station Medicare Centre conducted a workshop for students and staff on 13th July 2016 on ‘First Aid & Health Safety’ for both the Primary and Secondary wings of the school.

On 1st August 2016 the Airforce Security personnel conducted a Workshop on “Security and Sabotage”, “Fire Safety” as a precautionary and preparedness drive for the faculty.

WORkSHOPS

Workshops are conducted subject wise every academic year either in the school or in other Airforce Schools that come under the aegis of the Training Command. The Workshops conducted in the school were “Management of students in the 21st Century” by Dr Ali khwaja, Chairman, Banjara Academy conducted a workshop for the school faculty in April 2016 before the commencement of the new academic session. Valuable tips were given to effectively handle students and make the classroom experience an enjoyable and enlightening one for the millennium student.

EFFECTIVE USE OF THE SMARTBOARD – was a centralised ‘Teacher Workshop’ for the faculty of various schools managed by the Training Command. The resource personnel from ‘Next Education’ shared learning solutions using the latest technology to make learning and teaching easier, fun and more effective through ‘TeachNext’ a digital classroom solution. ‘NextLab’ an experiential learning approach enables students to use hands-on activities to better understand English Math, Science and Robotics.

In the pipeline is another centralised workshop for teachers on ‘Grades and Grading’ in the CBSE curriculum scheduled for the month of September.

SMART SCHOOL

The facilities that went into the making of our school as a ‘Smart School’ were the additions of a ‘Central Alarm System’ to alert the students in times of emergencies such as sabotage or natural disasters. The additional need of the hour devices are the ‘CCTV cameras’ and the ‘Video Door Calling’ adding to the safety and the security of the premises.

The ‘Biometric System’ is an electronic device to monitor the reporting of the faculty and the MTS Staff to school. ‘Circulars and Substitution’ is disseminated to the staff through the ‘Smart Boards’ . Alerts and informative messages to the stakeholders i.e parents are sent through ‘UOLO Notes’ which is mass messaging vide SMS and What’s App.

PROGRESSION IDENTIFIERS

Additionally a few of the existing facilities are being upgraded or added to namely : • Construction of an additional Emergency Exit• Provision of Multi Play Systems for Primary and

Nursery wing, fibre moulded student friendly furniture and laying a Traffic Park in the Nursery wing

• Installation of an additional 08 CCTVs and a chain link fencing of the compound wall on the CV Raman Main road.

• Provision of Interlocking tiles, chequered tiling for the Primary Wing , including laying of vitrified tiles in the Principal’s office.

• A new washroom is under construction for the girls in the Secondary wing.

• An AMC for Pest Control is operational in view of the menace caused by insects and rodents.

• The other Smart Updates was the introduction of the ‘E-Library Management System’ and the ‘Time Table preparation’. In the pipeline is the ‘ERP Solutions’ for the automation of the administration of the school.
