Gwangju Folly, an urban regeneration

project withworld-class architects

A folly is a building constructed primarily for decoration, which excludes its original function. A decorative structure in the garden of a European mansion with no function is an example. However, Gwangju Folly is contributing to urban regeneration via its decorative and functional role in public spaces. Started as part of the Gwangju Biennale and Design Biennale, Gwangju Folly I, II, and III are now making the old town area culturally powerful. Reservations are available for Folly tours.

Penguin Village is a junk art village that itself became an art exhibit by recreating waste into works of art. It was named after the way the elderly with knee pain walked somewhat like penguins.
