The facilities comprise of achampionship course, golf Academy and floodlit driving range andAcademy Par 3 course where golfing enthusiasts can practice theirgame into the evening. The silhouette of the Hajar Mountain range, ofwhich the Almouj Golf course has stunning vistas, is clearly visible in the shape and positioningof the natural sand dunes at the course. Similarly, the intact natural water lakes within thecourse and the signature touch of brilliant white Omani crushed marble in the Normanbunkers create an authentic link between this world-class standard course and its Omanisurroundings.

autumn remains warm-to-hot, with day temperaturesbetween 29-35°C and evening temperatures around21°C. However, temperatures in Salalahdo not exceed 27°c year-round and the mountains alsoremain cooler in comparison year-round. Spa and golfare just a couple of activities that are popular fortravellers in both summer and winter, with many of thelarger hotels offering a wide range of spa treatmentsand facilities.

In terms of golf, Muscat now offers three 18-holegrass golf courses with more developments to beunveiled in the not too distant future. Oman's climatemakes golf a particularly popular activity betweenSeptember and May.

Other destinations worth a mention are EmptyQuarter and Wahiba Sands. A stay in the desert lendsitself well to those seeking a Bedouin lifestyle in atented camp.

More and more operators are capitalising onincreased demand and have added a range of touroptions and excursions to discover the country'snatural beauty outside of Muscat. Customised andbespoke itineraries are also gaining rapid interest andoptions to visit native Bedouin families andpicturesque Wadis are among the most popular, alongwith nature watching including birds, turtles, dolphinsand whales.

Oman's capital was historically three smallertowns which have grown together over theyears to form modern day Muscat. The three

original cities encompassed Muscat, often referred toas the 'walled city'; Muttrah, originally a fishing village;and Ruwi, which was generally considered as thecommercial and diplomatic centre of the city. Muscatis surrounded by a wall on its southern and westernsides. The wall, with its round towers, was built in 1625,while the mountains and the Gulf of Oman form

Muscat's natural walls to the north and east.Being the most popular

destination

for UK visitors to Oman speaks volumes and there'slittle that people can't choose to do in this magnificentcity. The old city offers a mix of modern and traditionalbuildings including the Royal Opera House and SultanQaboos Grand Mosque. A quick way to visit the city ison a Big Bus Tour. Outside of the central businessdistrict (CBD), which houses a plethora of restaurants, shopping, nightlife and entertainment, there areplenty of places to discover along the main highwaythat heads north east. The Sultan Qaboos Highwaytakes visitors past many areas including Seeb, Soharand eventually to Khasab, the capital of Musandam, and each offers its own unique sights and an insightinto the real Oman.

Muscat and Salalah

For travellers who are looking to step 'off-the-beaten-track' and explore some of the lesserknown regions of Oman, then cities such as

Salalah are worthy of their attention.Located in the south of Oman, Salalah is often

considered to be the 'second city' of the Sultanate, and is historically famous for its frankincense tradeand annual Khareef Festival, which celebrates themonsoon.

The most popular places of interest includeSultan Qaboos Palace, al-Hisn Souq and the HaffaSouq, and it's the city's historical and culturalbackground that plays a pivotal role in delineating

the features of Salalah’s people, and the city’snature and culture. Additionally, the city'sfavourable climate also makes it an excellent choicefor year-round holidays.

Aside from the historical sights and attractionsthe city offers, Salalah also guarantees a widechoice of activities and tours to recommend toclients. From whale, dolphin, flamingo and bird-watching to frankincense trails and visiting naturalparks like Wadi Darbat, which offers majestic viewsof waterfalls, lakes, mountains and caves, plus thestunning valley of Wadi Darbat, there's certainly noshortage of things to do and places to visit.
