The main changes consist in 2012 of three new pro-

duct lines top of the line: One eVO, One eVO-K and

WOrKhshOp.

Nomex® is a flame retardant fabric developed in the 1960’s by DuPont scientists and first marketed in 1967. Nomex® is the brand name of what is technically known as Synthetic Aromatic Polyamide Polymer. If we break the words down we understand that it’s a Synthetic fabric made with molecules that have a strong, ring-like structure (Aromatic) that connects together to form long chains (Polyamide) and that is composed from many identical molecules blended together (Polymer). In brief, Nomex® is an engineered textile with an special combination of heat and flame retardant properties that maintains superior textile characteristics.

Two outstanding properties of Nomex® make it the most used protection material in racing. Although Nomex® burns when you hold a flame up to it, it discontinues to do so as soon as the flame is removed; that is a reason why it is considered to be flame retardant. The second critical property is the thick woven structure of Nomex® fibers which is a poor conductor of heat. Nomex® will protect against exposure to high temperatures for a limited amount of time. However when wetted or sprayed with gasoline garment will burn, affecting the integrity and structure of Nomex® which can cause severe burns. Aside from racing, Nomex® is used by the military, fire-fighters and astronauts. It’s also widely used in household oven gloves and for automotive insulations where high temperatures’ are common, such as, hoses and insulation for spark plugs. SFI Foundation and FIA Institute provide specifications for flame-retardant clothing to be used in racing. The standards range from single layer suits that provide some protection against flash fires to much thicker multi layer suits.

Each suit is computer-designed based on the needs of the

driver, using sophisticated CAD systems.

The project is then automatically sent to modern cutting

machinery that carry out the various parts of the suit

based on selected fabrics and taken by an advanced

automated warehouse. Every single overall’s part can

be customized with modern and automatic

systems following customer’s desires.

The different parts of the suit are then assembled by hand

with the utmost care.

trimmed and painted. Then we proceed with the careful

assembly of the padding and upholstery, designed for

the maximum comfort of the driver. Each helmet is

subjected to strict quality controls in laboratories to verify

compliance with the latest FIA and Snell standards and to

ensure maximum safety of the driver, in addition to the

in accordance with the regulations.

Each belt is designed to ensure maximum security and

optimized performance. All individual components are

severely tested in the laboratory in pre-production as well

as in post-production.

OMP’s safety belts are entirely designed, manufactered and tested in thefactory of Ronco Scrivia, where the technical staff constantly researchesnew and innovative solutions and materials.The belts are made according to the latest FIA regulations with the use of special materials such as titanium alloy and aluminum, as well as a special steel and a mix of magnesium and ergal. The final product is extremely lightweight, high performance and enables the teams to achieve significant weight reduction without compromising the safety of the drive.OMP only uses Polyester material. Polyester has advantages over Nylon, such as lesser degradation under light and a resistance against acids like battery acid. In addition Polyester does not absorb moisture so the performance of OMP harnesses do not change whatever the climate may be.It’s not a coincidence that OMP’s safety belts are mounted on the R31 of theRenault Lotus Team and on the HRT.

Los cinturones de seguridad OMP son totalmente diseñados, fabricados y probados en la fábrica de Ronco Scrivia, donde el personal técnico constantemente investiga nuevas e innovadoras soluciones y materiales.Los cinturones se hacen de acuerdo a las últimas regulaciones de la FIA con el uso de materiales especiales como la aleación de titanio y aluminio, así como un acero especial y una mezcla de magnesio y ergal.
