Calling Agents

This week we spent most of our time calling agents, there was a little working force going on with Sam, Erol and me. Erol would be in the book getting which one to call, Sam would speak to them.

'Hello my name is Sam, I'm calling from tightrope theatre company. We've got a showcase coming out on the 6th of May in Covent Garden we were looking to send an ocial invite.'

I would then email them on which ever email they would give me and send them the leaflet we have been working on Daniella and I. I felt that it went really well and it worked that we had already booked the venue so all the times and dates were set out to tell them the right information. I felt that we all acted really professionally and got the job done to try out hardest to get agents to come along. I felt that introducing ourselves as the company name as tightropes it made us appear to be a professional working, producing company which sounds more appealing to agents I think than saying we are students and a college.

My Strengths Organisation

I have been very organised this week and I feel I have also influenced others in there ordination skills. We booked and venue and have started contact sing agents eciently.

professionalism

I feel this week I have showed a great deal of professionalism as when we were calling agents I felt I knew the right things to do and the way to say them and I felt that I have been very assertive with my choices.

Marketing Daniella and I have made the flyer for the emails as well as me making the website after that agent looked us up on google. I feel we need more stu on the website but I feel it is a good base if agents were to look on it.

Showcase April 24th 2015

We were looking and calling so many places to see what venues would suit us and that would be to our budget, first we rang the criterion which was a joke at 2000! We looked a more aordable for our budget venues but that had character to them, we called a few places. One in particular was in Camden Town called Electrica which was good price but was very small and even though the lady was nice she was overly enthusiastic about us and pushing us to book which worried me. I looked up places that drama schools do there showcase I looked at rose bruford and we contacted that place but it wasn't great. I remember Gavin said to look at the Arts Centre which had venues in which we found the Tristan Bates theatre in convent garden, it's central and it more well known with agents. I think we were more professional on this level as well ringing and some of us all had a go to ring venues so we got that chance of talking but we then almost nominated Sam as our companies spokesman because he comes across very well, because Harriet started to sound very patronising to the person on the other end of the phone.

Website and Flyer

Daniella and I were on the marketing side of things whilst some of the other company members spent their time looking for material we were making the flyers to email to the agents that we rung to follow up on that. I feel like the flyer looks fun but I don't know how much it advertises us as a professional company because being very colourful and loud I felt made us look more like we do children's theatre than some of the work we actually do produce. I didn't know whether the colour scheme that we were marketing to them screams something else.

I stated making the website because when we called on agency they said oh I have found you here as she typed us in on Google and that was our tumblr site which all our work is up as if we were HND's. So we changed the name and I started to create a new website with all of our CV's on and the marketing side. I felt that this has been a real strength of mine and if I wasn't the one driving this so strongly it wouldn't have been done and I think that we look more professional. This however did take up a lot of our time during the week so I didn't get to look through as much material.

Material

I ran through some material and ideas, there was the scene I wrote that Erol and I tried out. I wasn't sure about it when we read it o the page because I have an idea of the way I would want it to be done, which is only natural and to the reading I didn't think that Erol brought much to

My WeaknessesFinding Material The past week I have tried out material but nothing seems to suit or the people in the company aren't enthusiastic about the script which makes me think I can't do it if no one wants to do it with me. I've found it really had and with no support.

Communication with Company We have been a little dispersed as a company recently and I think that is a weaknesses, even though we have got a lot done I think it would have been nice to have a chat see how we are getting on with a director there so that we came together as a company.

Not active Just sitting in the HE centre because of lack of spaces for the HND's I think has been hard for me to not be very active and just be on the phone and it is all very time consuming and you wonder where half of your day has gone.

it. I wanted more aggression and with learning the lines this would come more naturally. I also looked at fleabag with Charley because I had a dream about the staging so we tried putting it on its feet straight away because charley was more of a presence in the scene with me more than leaning the lines. This went alright but we didn't over work it, it was just an idea but it was quite rude so we aren't doing it anymore. I also brought a scene from sex cells to the girls to read through but no one looked too up for it apart from Amber, I tried to explain what it was about and we did a read through but no one brought much energy to it, me included but listening I don't think it worked for the type of actors we are.
