Are we approaching the Battle of Armageddon? Absolutely!

How much time do we have left? Probably between seven and ten years. • Could it be longer? Yes, but it’s not likely.

1 THE FINAL SEVEN YEARS WILL BEGIN WHEN THE ANTICHRIST

AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY GIVE THEIR SUPPORT

TO ISRAEL’S RIGHT TO EXIST IN THE LAND PROMISED TO ABRAHAM

BY GOD. THIS IS CALLED THE CONFIRMATION OF THE COVENANT

(DANIEL 9:27 & GENESIS 15:18).

Israeli Prime Minister has openly stated that the number one goal

of his administration is to obtain the support of the international

community for ISRAEL’S FINAL BORDERS. He hopes to achieve this

by the end of 2008.

2 A WAR WILL BEGIN FROM THE VICINITY OF THE EUPHRATES

RIVER (REVELATION 9:13-16).

Most of the Euphrates River is in Iraq. The United States has

140,000 troops STATIONED ALONG THE EUPHRATES at this time.

The con� ict between the U.S. and Islamic Fundamentalism is not

diminishing, but increasing around the world.

3THE WEST BANK (JUDEA) IN ISRAEL WILL BECOME A PLACE OF

GREAT TRIBULATION (MATTHEW 24:15-21).

Ehud Olmert has openly said that he will withdraw from the West

Bank (Judea) by the end of 2008. Then, recently, he announced

that his convergence-withdrawal plan is o� — “NO LONGER

RELEVANT.” Whether or not Israel withdraws, the prophecy is clear

that there will be slaughter in Judea.

4THE TEMPLE MOUNT IN JERUSALEM WILL BE PLACED UNDER

A SHARING ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN JEW AND GENTILE

(REVELATION 11:1-2).

President Clinton suggested the SHARING OF THE TEMPLE MOUNT

in July of 2000. It is generally believed this is the only possible

solution to the Temple Mount dispute whenever the issue is � nally

resolved.

5�THE JEWISH TEMPLE WILL BE BUILT ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT

(REVELATION 11:1-2 & 2 THESSALONIANS 2:3-4).

All the furniture for ISRAEL’S THIRD TEMPLE is now complete;

Israel has her long-sought-for red heifer, which is needed before

the re-establishment of temple worship; and in June of 2005, the

newly re-born Sanhedrin announced they were proceeding with

building the temple. They intend to pre-fabricate it o� -site.

6THE TEMPLE MOUNT WILL BE PLACED UNDER THE SUPERVISION

OF THE WORLD COMMUNITY AND THE LEADER OF THE WORLD

COMMUNITY, THE ANTICHRIST, WILL STAND ON THE TEMPLE

MOUNT, CLAIMING TO BE GOD (2 THESSALONIANS 2:3-4).

The Temple Mount will be placed under the supervision of the

world community and the leader of the world community, THE

ANTICHRIST, will stand on the Temple Mount, claiming to be God

(2 Thessalonians 2:3-4). Ehud Barak, Israeli Prime Minister in the year

2000, suggested placing the Temple Mount UNDER UN CONTROL

in order to make a sharing of the Temple Mount possible. When

the UN takes control of the Temple Mount, the leader of the world

government will feel justi� ed in claiming ultimate authority there.

7A WORLD GOVERNMENT WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD FOR

THREE AND ONE-HALF YEARS PRIOR TO ARMAGEDDON

(DANIEL 7:23 & REVELATION 13:7).

The nations of the world are increasingly recognizing the authority

of INTERNATIONAL LAW. We now have the World Bank, the World

Trade Organization, the World Health Organization and the World

Court—just to name a few. We have a World Court to adjudicate

the international laws of the emerging world government.

8EACH PERSON ON EARTH WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A

MARK OR A NUMBER IN ORDER TO BUY OR SELL (REVELATION

13:16-18).

On May 11, 2005, President Bush signed the REAL ID ACT. The law

requires that every American must have a national ID card by May

11, 2008. Without this card, a person will not be able to hold a job or

open a bank account. Without a job or a bank account, how much

buying and selling will an individual be able to do? Oh, by the way,

you can’t get your card without giving your number…your social

security number.

9�THE WORLD COMMUNITY, LED BY RUSSIA AND IRAN, WILL

INVADE THE NATION OF ISRAEL (ZECHARIAH 14:2-4 &

EZEKIEL 38 & 39).

Iran (Persia) and Russia (Meshech—root word for Moscovi or

Moscow) are NOW IN ALLIANCE. Iran is the leading advocate of

“wiping Israel o� the map.” �

Nine specifi c prophecies in the Bible will occur within the fi nal seven years prior to the Battle of Armageddon. By examining these prophecies, we can get a sense of how close we are to Armageddon.

� e winds of change are blowing around the world. Most major nations have either undergone a change of leadership recently, or they will in the near future.

Tony Blair has announced he will be leaving Number 10 Downing Street by the end of June. France’s new president is Nicolas Sarkozy. He promises to be the new leader of the European right. Germany’s Angela Merkel is providing strong leadership in a renewed drive toward adopting a European Constitution. She also is vigorously promoting the creation of a common European army. Does that frighten anyone?

Ban Ki Moon just assumed the leadership of the United Nations on January 1 of this year, and it seems very likely that Ehud Olmert’s government in Israel won’t be able to last much longer.

Within the next year and a half, both George Bush and Vladimer Putin are scheduled to pass o� the scene of world leadership.

All of these leadership changes together constitute a massive change of leadership for the world as a whole. Will it bode for good or will this much inexperience at this critical time in human history spell disaster?

At the same time, the global warming issue seems to have found new wings. Someone is obviously pumping huge dollars into the environmental movement. We are absolutely being bombarded continually and relentlessly with the global warming message.

It doesn’t seem to matter how many reputable scientist contend that global warming is a natural process of an ever-changing climate, and that it is not a man-made occurrence. Al Gore and his environmental faithful just keep on preaching and believing.

In the meantime, the Euphrates River War continues on in Iraq. How stubborn is George Bush? Will he slump out of Iraq in defeat, or will he decide to “go for broke”?

It would all be so confusing if it were not for the prophecies of the

Bible. God’s word remains the only light and the only road map in an increasingly dark and confusing world.

In a word…Jesus is still the world’s only hope! n

Judea = West Bank?

“They that are in Judea � ee.” I have heard

this referred to as the West Bank area. I may

not understand the map, but it seemed

to me that Judea was a large area that in-

cluded Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Jericho.

How is this relating to the West Bank set-

tlers only?

- Jacob

REPLY | According to Easton’s Bible Diction-

ary, Judea was the term used after the Babylo-

nian captivity to denote the whole area west

of the Jordan River. During the time of Christ,

it was used to denote the southernmost of the

three divisions of Palestine (Judea, Samaria,

and Galilee). It included the cities you men-

tion as well as additional territory in the sur-

rounding areas. A modern map that includes

the West Bank will show that the modern West

Bank overlaps with the area known in ancient

times as Judea. It also includes some of the

area of Samaria (e.g. Jenin and Nablus).

THE FIRST RESURRECTION

Could you please explain Matthew 27:52-

53 what resurrection was this? I heard

a sermon the other day that stated that

this was the � rst resurrection that is spo-

ken of in Rev. 20:5. I realize that this is not

the � rst resurrection but how do you dis-

cuss this with someone who believes this.

REPLY | Revelation 20:5 follows Revelation

20:4, which describes the people who are

part of the fi rst resurrection. It says that they

were those who were beheaded for the wit-

ness of Jesus and the word of God, and had

not worshipped the beast or his image, and

had not taken the mark. This is certainly not

a description of those mentioned in Matthew

27. At the time of Matthew 27, there had been

no martyrdom for Jesus Christ, and the mark

of the beast system was not in place. Also,

Revelation 20:6 says that the partakers of the

fi rst resurrection are not aff ected by the sec-

ond death and that they reigned with Christ

for 1000 years. For this to apply to Matthew

27, one would have to believe that the saints

who arose, continued to live on for at least

1000 years after the crucifi xion. That said, the

scriptures are fi lled with examples of people

being raised from the dead, before the “fi rst

resurrection” spoken of in Revelation 20. You

have the son in Nain (Luke 7), Lazarus (John

11), the saints in Matthew 27, and the Lord

Jesus himself – who is the fi rstfruits of them

who slept – 1 Cor 15:20. All of these involved

“resurrection,” but none of them are the event

known as “the fi rst resurrection.” The one in

Revelation 20:4-6 is called “the fi rst resurrec-

tion” and is an event yet to occur.

TOMB

I am very interested in obtaining the teach-

ing of Irvin Baxter regarding the day that

Christ was cruci� ed and the issue of the

three days and three nights in the belly of

the earth. I am interested in sharing this

with my Sunday school teacher. Thank you

REPLY | Scripture tells us that Jesus was cru-

cifi ed the day before the Sabbath and rose

from the grave on the day after the Sabbath.

At first glance, this seems to indicate that Je-sus was crucified on Friday and rose again Sunday morning. There’s a problem with this however. As you pointed out, the Bible clearly states that Jesus was in the tomb for three days and three nights. There is no way that from Friday evening to Sunday morning is three days and three nights. So what’s the answer? On special holy days, there were two Sab-baths in one week. The crucifixion week was Passover. These extra Sabbaths were called “high days.” Jesus was crucified on Wednes-day (preparation day) and was buried right before the Sabbath began that evening. (The Bible says concerning that Sabbath, “For it was an high day.”) Jewish days begin at sun-set in the evening. He was then in the tomb Thursday evening and Thursday day, Friday evening and Friday day, Saturday evening and Saturday day. The Bible says that He rose from the dead before daybreak the next day (Sunday morning). Thus He was in the tomb three days and three nights.

SURVIVORS AT THE BATTLE OF ARMA-GEDDON?Is absolutely every living thing killed at the end of the battle of Armaggeddon or not? I have heard this taught both ways.

REPLY | Every living thing is definitely not killed at the end of the Battle of Armageddon. We know this because scripture is clear that mankind will continue on earth for the next 1,000 years. Revelation 5:9-10 tells us the re-deemed will reign on earth: “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Furthermore, Daniel 7:11-12 states that, when the beast is destroyed, the other beasts

(nations) have their dominion taken away, but their lives are prolonged. This depicts the Antichrist being destroyed at Armageddon and the inception of the millennium.

ANTICHRIST AND FALSE PROPHET THE SAME OR DIFFERENT?

“False prophet” is written three times in the book of Revelation: Rev. 16:13, 19:20, and 20:10. It seems to me that the false prophet and the antichrist are synonomous. I don’t see the word antichrist anywhere in Rev-elation. References are made to a “dragon and a beast” I see that the beast in Rev. 13:1 is described as a union of different empires, and in Rev. 13: 11, another beast is spoken of that seems to be the one that is empowered to force everyone to receive a mark or an image of the first “beast.” In Rev. 19:20 the false prophet is the same as Rev. 13:13. If the antichrist and the false prophet are different, then the antichrist would be called the “beast” in 19:20. Is the antichrist the beast?

REPLY | The scriptures distinguish between 2 different people – the antichrist (the first beast) and the false prophet (the second beast). Here’s how:- In Rev. 19:20, we read that “both were cast alive into a lake of fire…” This verse distinguishes between two different people.- In Bible prophecy, there are a number of instances where a symbolic image like a beast is used to represent both the kingdom, as well as the ruler of that kingdom. For example, in Daniel 7, we read that the beasts represent kings (v17) as well as kingdoms (v23). The same applies to the reference to the first beast in Revelation 13. The chapter begins with a reference to the beast king-dom (one world government), but then goes on to describe this beast using terms that are used elsewhere in scripture to describe a

single man, the antichrist (e.g. making war with the saints, etc. – Dan 7, mouth speak-ing great things – Dan 11) . This beast is dif-ferent than the 2nd one mentioned later in Revelation 13.- The 2nd beast in Revelation 13 is responsible for causing people to worship the first beast. It doesn’t say that he accepts worship himself. 2 Thessalonians 2 says that the antichrist will set himself up as God, and be worshipped as God. Therefore, the beast that the false prophet is causing people to worship must be the antichrist.

AHMADINEJAD: IRAN HAS JOINED

CLUB OF NUCLEAR NATIONS

Iran has announced that it has begun en-

riching uranium, dramatically expanding a

program that the United Nations had de-

manded that it halt. Uranium enrichment

can produce fuel for a nuclear reactor or

material for a nuclear warhead, and the U.S.

and its allies are accusing Iran of intending

to produce weapons. Teheran denies these

charges.

U.S.’IRAN ATTACK PLANS’ REVEALED

The BBC has learned that the U.S. contin-

gency plans for air strikes on Iran extend

beyond nuclear sites. If ordered, the attack

would target Iranian air bases, naval bases,

missile facilities and command-and-con-

trol centers. The United States is trying to

persuade Teheran to stop uranium enrich-

ment, but as a fallback plan, senior o�cials

at Central Command in Florida have already

selected their target sets inside Iran.

EXCLUSIVE: EMBASSIES IN TEHERAN

PREPARE ESCAPE PLANS

According to foreign sources, foreign diplo-

mats believe a possible attack by Western

or Israeli forces could take place before the

end of 2007. By then, Iran may have enough

enriched uranium to cause a humanitarian

and environmental catastrophe should its

nuclear facilities be damaged or destroyed

in such an attack. Foreign embassies in Te-

heran are now in the process of updating

their emergency evacuation plans.

‘DEVASTATING RESPONSE’ IF IRAN

NUKES ATTACKED

Iran is anticipating a U.S. or Israeli military

strike on its nuclear facilities. Attacks against

the Jewish state and American regional in-

terests are being planned for. “The Zionists

and the Americans are coordinated 100 per-

cent. It doesn’t matter who attacks Iran, we

are planning to hit them both,” said a Islamic

Jihad leader.

WAR OF WORDS AFTER CALL FOR

INDEPENDENCE

Chen Shui-bian, the President of Taiwan,

has accelerated his drive to edge the is-

land towards formal independence from

China. Chen has said that “Taiwan should

be independent” and “is a country whose

sovereignty lies outside the People’s Repub-

lic of China.” His bold declarations enraged

the Communist rulers of China, who have

threatened to take back the island by force,

if necessary. Beijing says “whoever wants to

split away will become a criminal in history.”

u EU WATCH

MERKEL WANTS EU ARMY

The European Union should have a common

army, said Germany’s Chancellor Angela

Merkel in an interview with the mass-selling

German daily Bild. Merkel also underlined

her dream of a common EU constitution.

Merkel’s Germany currently holds the rotat-

ing six-month presidency of the EU.

MERKEL URGES EU ON CONSTITUTION

Germany unveiled proposals for reviving

the main elements of the EU constitution.

They have pledged to resurrect plans for a

full-time president and separate EU foreign

minister. Wolfgang Ischinger said the “�rst

step” to make an enlarged Europe work bet-

ter would be to replace the six-month presi-

dencies of the EU with a “permanent, profes-

sional presidency.”

SOLANA TO DISCUSS IRAN WITH U.S.

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for

the Common Foreign and Security Policy,

met with Stephen Hadley, the US National

Security Advisor, to discuss a number of in-

ternational issues. Topics included Iran, the

Middle East, Afghanistan, Western Balkans

and Africa.

u MARK OF THE BEAST WATCH

DUAL-PURPOSE RFID LABEL REKIN-

DLES PRIVACY FEARS

Evolve labels have been unveiled by Check-

point Systems. The Evolve label carries an

industry standard Generation 2 RFID tag

for tracking and a separate radio frequency

circuit to enable in-store electronic article

surveillance. Katherine Albrecht, an author

and consumer privacy rights advocate, said

RFID tags that o�er both anti-theft and RFID

tracking capabilities are dangerous. She says

“This is beyond a doubt the number one

most important - and dangerous - develop-

ment in the consumer privacy arena today.

Dual-use tracking devices will quietly be

embedded in a person’s belongings, where

[vendors] will be able to silently and secretly

transmit information about you to market-

ers, criminals and Big Brother.” Retail analyst

Evan Schuman said the new technology

should not be “worrisome,” and argued that

“it’s not going to make the consumer’s life

materially less private. Privacy was lost years

ago.”

AMERICAN EXPRESS ADDRESSES RFID

PEOPLE TRACKING PLANS

The top brass at American Express, annoyed

at the discovery of its people tracking plans,

has met with CASPIAN (Consumers Against

Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Number-

ing). One of the outcomes was a promise by

American Express to review its patent port-

folio and ensure that any people-tracking

plans are accompanied by consumer notice

and consent. The meeting had been called

after CASPIAN called attention to a patent

application, titled “Method and System for

Facilitating a Shopping Experience,” which

described a blueprint for monitoring con-

sumers through RFID-enabled objects. RFID

readers called “consumer trackers” would

be placed in store shelving to pick up “con-

sumer identi�cation signals.” Dr. Katherine

Albrecht, Founder and Director of CASPIAN,

uncovered and revealed the patent pending

plans through her and her “Spychips” co-au-

thor Liz McIntyre’s ongoing RFID research.

18 DIABETIC PATIENTS IMPLANTED

WITH VERIMED RFID MICROCHIP AT

ATLANTA DIABETES EXPO

VeriChip Corporation has announced that

it has added 18 diabetic patients to its

VeriMed Patient Identi�cation System. Phy-

sicians implanted VeriMed RFID microchips

in conference attendees who signed up for

the voluntary procedure at the Atlanta Dia-

betes EXPO. The chip provides immediate

access to important health information for

—world events through the eyes of bible prophecy—

Lobbyists, private citizens and students

voiced their concerns over the proposed

REAL ID program at a town hall-style meet-

ing in California in early May. O� cials from

the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

� elded questions. The town hall meeting

was the only one of its kind in the nation.

Support for the Real ID Act was sparse, and

those present roundly criticized the act due

to its cost, security and implementation.

Richard Holober, a representative from the

Consumer Federation of California, said the

national database would be a “one-stop

shop” for identity thieves. Walter Stanley, a

geology major at Sacramento City College,

dismissed the idea that the REAL ID pro-

gram would � ght terrorism. At one point,

the meeting was interrupted for about 5

minutes by a group of approximately 50

protesters chanting, “REAL ID sounds like a

racist threat to me!”

MINNESOTA JOINS STATES BUCKING

PLAN FOR A NATIONAL ID

Minnesota and two-dozen other states are

� ghting against the Real ID Act of 2005. Min-

nesota o� cials are estimating a $31 million

price tag over � ve years for the new law. Ac-

cording to state Senator Mee Moua, DFL-St.

Paul, “It’s an irresponsible use of resources.”

Maine and Idaho already have passed laws

opposing participation, and Minnesota is

among 25 states that have legislation in the

works.

WYOMING SENATE KILLS BILL

AGAINST REAL ID

The Wyoming House overwhelmingly

passed a joint resolution calling for the re-

peal of the Real ID Act; however U.S. Rep.

Barbara Cubin, R-Wyoming who co-spon-

sored the Real ID Act, sent a letter in support

of the federal law. Congressional critics have

been trying to delay the implementation of

the Real ID Act. The resolution, which calls

for Congress to repeal the act altogether,

passed the state House 49-11, but died in

the state Senate Mineral, Business and Eco-

nomic Development Committee.

COURT PREVENTS GROUPS FROM

SACRIFICING LIVE ANIMALS AT

TEMPLE MOUNT

The New Sanhedrin Council attempted to

sacri� ce a live animal at the Temple Mount

recently. Rabbis Adin Steinsaltz, Israel Ariel,

Yishai Baved and their associates secretly lo-

cated a butcher, found a Cohen hailing from

a lineage 1,000 years old and put together a

plan to set up an altar on the Temple Mount.

Their plan was to slaughter a sacri� cial ani-

mal across from the Western Wall. They peti-

tioned the High Court of Justice for the right

to

ritual, but the

court rejected their request, rul-

ing “the rights of the petitioners to practice

their faith are outweighed by other consid-

erations such as public order and safety.”

Despite the ruling, the decision was made

to hold a colorful procession in Jerusalem,

heading to the Western Wall along with two

Jewish Temple. Based on the study of a large

underground cistern on the Temple Mount

and passages from the Mishnah, Hebrew

University archeologist Professor Joseph

Patrich says the Temple and its correspond-

ing courtyards, chambers and gates are

more southeasterly and at a diagonal frame

of reference compared to previous studies.

Patrich says the cistern is the only one found

on the Temple Mount that can tie in with the

ancient rabbinic text describing elements in-

volved in the daily puri�cation and sacri�cial

duties carried out by the priests. Patrich says

this places the Dome of the Rock outside the

con�nes of the Temple.

debate at the Knesset in early May. The de-

chief Javier Solana urged the United States

to speak directly to Iran to ease an interna-

tional stando� over its nuclear program.

UNITED NATIONS IMPOSES NEW SANC-

TIONS ON IRAN

The Security Council has added new and

tougher sanctions on Iran to those that

were imposed in December. The Council has

urged countries to “exercise vigilance and

restraint” in supplying, selling or transfer-

ring directly or indirectly any battle tanks,

armored combat vehicles, large caliber artil-

lery systems, combat aircraft, attack helicop-

ters, warships, missiles or missile systems.

The council also recommended that gov-

ernments and �nancial institutions refrain

from providing �nancial assistance, grants

and concessional loans to the Government

of Iran.

UN SECURITY COUNCIL DEBATES ON

GLOBAL WARMING

For the �rst time in its 60-year history, the

UN Security Council discussed how climate

change could trigger increasing con�icts

and famine. The debate, requested by Brit-

ain during its chairmanship of the council,

was a milestone in UN history. Politics or

government mismanagement is normally

the blame for con�icts and human miseries.

A panel of 18 scientists from 11 countries

has presented the United Nations with a de-

tailed plan for combating change in climate.

The strategy involves reaching a global

agreement on a temperature ceiling. The

panel’s recommendations include a series of

steps to cut the rate at which temperatures

are rising, but very little will be achieved un-

less they are accompanied by a global tax

on greenhouse gas emissions.

WICCAN PENTACLE ADDED TO EM-

BLEMS ALLOWED ON HEADSTONES

The Wiccan pentacle is being added to a list

of emblems allowed in national cemeteries

and on government-issued headstones of

fallen soldiers. A settlement between the

U.S. Department of Veterans A�airs and

Wiccans adds the �ve-pointed star to the

list. The settlement calls for the pentacle,

whose �ve points represent earth, air, �re,

water and spirit, to be put on grave markers

within 2 weeks for those who have pending

requests with the VA.

PUTIN SAYS HE DISCUSSED INTER-

FAITH DIALOGUE WITH POPE

According to Russian President Vladimir Pu-

tin, Russia will promote a dialogue between

creeds and use its potential to resolve mod-

ern international problems. He said that in

his meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, they

agreed that globalization is putting forward

complex tasks and that an answer can be

found only through dialogue.

CHURCHES BACK PLAN TO UNITE

UNDER POPE

According to information leaked to The

Times, radical proposals to reunite Anglicans

with the Roman Catholic Church under the

leadership of the Pope are to be published

this year. These proposals were agreed upon

by senior bishops of both churches. Some

Anglicans are beginning to see the poten-

tial value of a ministry of universal primacy,

which would be exercised by the Bishop of

Rome, as a sign and focus of unity within a

reunited Church.

If the government of the United States passed a law for security purposes that every American had to have a personal ID number tattooed on his or her hand,

without which that person would not be permitted to buy or sell, would you accept it?

I’m sure most of you are saying, “No way! Not over my dead body!”

Yet, such a law has already been passed with one minor difference—which really is no difference. You

won’t have the number tattooed on your hand. You only have to have the number on a card in your hand.

The bottom line is you will have the number in your hand or you will not be able to buy or sell.

The new law requires every American to have a national ID card without which you will be unable to

hold a job, and you will not be able to have a bank account. With no job and no bank account, how much

buying and selling will you be able to do? Obviously, none!

Now allow me to ask the question once again. Will you accept a number in your hand in order to keep

your job or have a bank account? Think about it very carefully. Each of us will have to answer this

question between now and May 11, 2008 when the Real ID Act is scheduled for implementation.

So…what’s it matter anyway?�e prophecy found in Revelation 13:15-18 foretells that a time

will come when every person on earth will be forced to have a

number in the hand or in the forehead, or else the individual will

not be able to buy or sell.

Has this sunk in yet? �e prophecy is 2,000 years old, but it is

happening now! I’m not saying that it might happen. I’m saying that

the law is already passed by Congress and signed by our president.

We are watching the implementation in process now!

What’s behind this national ID?�e rationale being given for the creation of a national ID is to

guard against the threat of terrorism. However, the global government

crowd wanted a national ID long before terrorism reared its ugly

head. Twenty-seven years ago in its September 15, 1980 edition, the

U.S. News & World Report carried an editorial entitled “A National

Identity Card” by Editor Marvin Stone. In the editorial, Stone

argued that a national ID was needed to thwart illegal immigration,

protecting American jobs from illegal immigrants.

In spite of what Homeland Security is saying, the national ID is

not really a security issue. It’s all about control. You can’t control a

population unless you issue each of them a number. �en you must

force them to use that number for employment, travel, and banking.

�is accomplished, you can force compliance to any mandate issued

by the government since invalidation of the person’s number renders

the individual a non-person. Economic control means controlling a

person’s ability to exist.

�is is exactly what the prophecy says will happen during the time

just ahead called the great tribulation. And this is exactly what will

happen when the national ID is fully implemented.

When is a national ID card not a national ID card? When

Homeland Security says so! From the very beginning, the national ID

card has been shrouded in deception. Wanting a national ID card, but

knowing the American people would never stand for it, the decision

was made to call the national ID the Real ID. Abracadabra! Now it’s

not a national ID card!

At the recent National Forum on the Real ID held in Sacramento,

California on May 1, 2007, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security

Richard Barth emphatically stated, “�is is not a national ID!” And he

actually expected us to believe him! Of course, we didn’t.

�ere’s actually a very simple way to rip the cover o� of this blatant

deception once and for all. Question #1: Is the Real ID an ID card?

Yes, of course. Everyone, including Homeland Security agrees. �is

is an ID card.

Now, question #2: Was this ID card created by a state law or by a

national law? Why…it was created by a national law.

�en it’s a national ID card! It’s really very simple…except when

you’re trying to deceive people into accepting something they

don’t want.

Deception #2�e promoters of the national ID claim repeatedly that the Real

ID Act was a legitimately passed law of Congress. It is true that the

House of Representative did pass the Real ID Act. However, it was

suspected that much sti�er resistance would be met when the bill was

sent to the Senate.

In order to stave o� the possibility of defeat of this key bill that

was at the heart of governmental planners’ vision for dramatically

increased control of the populace, the Real ID Act was stealthily

hidden on the back of a must-pass funding bill for our troops in Iraq.

�e 1000-page bill passed 100-0. �ink of it! A bill spelling the end of

freedom for Americans being deceitfully slipped through the Senate

on the back of funding for our troops. You have to admit…that is

politics at its �nest! Many of the senators didn’t even realize until later

that they had voted for the Real ID.

Deception #3True or False? �e terrorist attacks of 9/11 would not have happened

if only we would’ve had a national ID card system.

�e proponents of a national ID card love to repeat this myth over

and over. It is their number one selling point for the national ID.

But is it true? No. It is blatantly false! Half of the 9/11 terrorists had

legal IDs. �e other half had IDs that satis�ed airline standards at

the time. We can be assured that if the Real ID had been in force on

9/11, the hijackers would have made sure that each of them had the

necessary documentation to clear security. �ese were terrorists, but

they weren’t dumb!

�e end of freedomIf the Real ID Act is implemented, every

American will be placed in a national database.

Every time you swipe your national ID, it will be

recorded creating

a constant trail of every person’s movements.

Deception #4

�e latest piece of ammunition in the pro-national ID arsenal is a

Zogby poll supposedly showing that 70 percent of Americans support

the introduction of national standards for driver’s licenses under the

Real ID Act.

�ey conveniently fail to disclose that, in the same poll, only 44

percent favored a national ID card, and 51 percent opposed a national

ID card. �is huge discrepancy between what Homeland Security is

implying and the reality simply illustrates that the government’s

disinformation campaign has been very e�ective. �e fact is that

the establishment of national standards for driver’s licenses under

the Real ID Act is the creation of a national ID card—the very

thing that 51 percent of the American people are against.

One more time…Is the Real ID a national ID? Answer: It is

an ID card, and it was created by a national law. It’s a national ID

no matter how much the Washington bureaucrats try to deceive

and deny. Still, Homeland Security continues to claim a majority

of Americans are for something that they are, in fact, against!

Again…deception, deception, deception!

No person will buy or sell without the national ID

�ose who promote the national ID would deny vehemently that

people will be placed under economic boycott unless they accept

the Real ID card. However, let’s look at the facts.

An employee veri�cation program called Basic Pilot was started

in 1996. It is presently being used voluntarily by 5,000 employers

to check the legal status of job applicants. When a person applies

for a job, his or her social security number is submitted to the Basic

Pilot database. If the individual is not in the federal database, he or

she will not be hired.

President Bush has called on Congress to make Basic Pilot

mandatory for every employer in America and to provide the

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with the funding and

authority to make sure it is an e�ective tool to prevent the hiring of

illegal workers. Both the House and Senate immigration bills would

require employers to use Basic Pilot. �e President’s 2007 budget

requests $111 million to expand Basic Pilot for more employers to

make use of the program. Under this proposed new law, employers

will be �ned $10,000 for employing anyone not in the federal

database. If you’re not in the federal database, you cannot have a

job…anyplace in the U.S. No job…no ability to buy or sell.

And how will an individual pass the test to be included in the

Homeland Security database that will allow him to work? Never

doubt that the acid test will soon be whether a person has been

cleared for the Real ID and consequently placed in the database

shared by all ��y states.

Will a national ID work?Not only will a national ID not weed out illegal immigrants, it

will make matters worse. Here’s why. For less than $300, an illegal

alien can buy a social security card and a birth certi�cate. Under

the Real ID program, these documents can then be used to obtain a

legitimate ID card issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Suddenly,

an illegal alien is supplied by the government with a certi�cation of

legitimacy. It will be an illegal immigrants dream!

�e Real ID won’t prevent illegal immigration. It will facilitate it!

The end of freedomIf the Real ID Act is implemented, every American will be placed in

a national database. Every time you swipe your national ID, it will be

recorded creating a constant trail of every person’s movements.


Will you accept a number in yourhand in order to keep a job or have a bank account?


� e purpose of the Real ID is control. Many people think that is a

good thing…but is it? Not if you believe in freedom!

Control and freedom are opposites. � e proposed National ID is

nothing but the slapping of invisible electronic handcu� s on every

person in America. It is the end of freedom for the land of the free and

the home of the brave.

But if a person has done nothing wrong, what di� erence does it

make if the government knows where you’ve been, what you bought,

what you read and which websites you visited? Hmm…that sounds

like something Adolf Hitler would have said.

Increasing security at the price of freedom

How far are Americans willing for our government to go in insuring

our security? Total security requires total control. � e safest place on

earth is in a padded cell, but who wants to live there?

Freedom requires bravery, not total security. Our national anthem

concludes with “O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” If

we ever cease to be brave, we will no longer be free.

So what is the answer?If a national ID is a terrible idea, then what do we do to protect our

country against terrorism? � e answer is really very obvious.

What has kept us safe for the last 230 years? Our borders. � e

problem we are facing today has been caused by our government’s

decision to not enforce our borders. Between 12 and 20 million

illegal immigrants don’t get into a country by accident. � ey arrive by

purposeful neglect.

Some would make us believe that border enforcement is mission

impossible. � at is totally untrue. We can enforce our borders if we

want to. Our friend Israel certainly knows how to guard its borders.

� ey have an electronic fence with a dirt road running along side of it.

Every four to six hours an army jeep with a sweeper attached sweeps

the dirt road, at the same time looking for footprints indicating a

border violation. If Israel, with a population of 6 million can defend

a 450-mile border, surely a country with a population of 300 million

can defend a 2,000-mile border…that is if we want to.

If our borders were properly defended, we wouldn’t have to

destroy the freedom of America by tracking everyone, everywhere.

We could live within secure borders without being numbered,

without being tracked.

Has the time come for a country where the police can pull you over

and demand “Papers please”? Will we, like the Jews in Nazi Germany,

accept being numbered? God help us to have the courage to say no

to the worst law ever passed in the history of the United States of

America! Let’s throw the Real ID Act on the trash heap of history

once and for all!

Have we Americans lost our backbone? Are we afraid to stand

up against a government that continues to become more and more

intrusive? Will we stand silently still while our governmental masters

snap the electronic handcu� s in place?

Patrick Henry said it so eloquently 232 years ago: “Is life so dear, or

peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?

Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but

as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Somebody needs to say it again!

One more time...Is the Real ID a national ID? Answer: It is an ID card, and it was created by a national law. It’s a national ID no matter how much the Washington bureaucrats try to deceive and deny. Still, Homeland Security continues to claim a majority of Americans are for something that they are, in fact, against! Again

...deception, deception, deception!

Give Me LibertyOr Give Me DeathGive me liberty or give me death” is a famous quotation from a speech made

by Patrick Henry to the Virginia House of Burgesses. � e speech was given

March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church in Richmond, Virginia, and is credited

with having single-handedly convinced the Virginia House of Burgesses to

pass a resolution delivering the Virginia troops to the Revolutionary War.

In attendance were � omas Je� erson and George Washington. Reportedly,

the crowd, upon hearing the speech, jumped up and shouted, “To Arms! To

Arms!”

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities,

of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But di� erent

men o� en see the same subject in di� erent lights; and, therefore, I hope it will

not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions

of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely

and without reserve. � is is no time for ceremony. � e questing before the

House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it

as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the

magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in

this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and ful� ll the great responsibility

which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at

judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of

the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which

gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that

insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not,

sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Su� er not yourselves to be betrayed with a

kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with

those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are

Can gentlemen assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any

enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies

and armies? No, sir, she has none. � ey are meant for us: they can be meant

for no other. � ey are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which

the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose

to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten

years. Have we anything new to o� er upon the subject? Nothing. We have held

the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain.

Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we � nd

which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive

ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm

which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have

supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored

its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament.

Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional

violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been

spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne! In vain, a� er these things,

may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. � ere is no longer

any room for hope. If we wish to be free-- if we mean to preserve inviolate

long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the

Most people have probably heard at least one of the following stories. Put a frog in a pot

of boiling water and he will save himself by

jumping right out. Put him in a pan of cold

water, and gradually increase the heat. You

will soon boil him to death. Want to catch

a wild hog that won’t come anywhere near

you? Put a little corn out for him in the

woods. Do that pretty regularly until he gets

used to the smell of humans and gradually

accustoms himself to eating corn. Get him to

follow your trail of corn right into an enclosure

and you capture him easily. What is the moral

of these two stories? What has this got to do

with government identi�cation programs?

What has gradualism got to do with a national ID?

We can begin answering these questions by noting that at

the time of the American Revolution, there was little concern

for the o�cial, civil registration of births and deaths. Even in the

Constitution there is no speci�c mention of vital statistics other

than the commissioning of the federal government to conduct a

census every ten years in order to determine the apportionment

of congressmen among the states. At any time prior to 1900, it

would probably have been impossible for a large portion of the

American populace to prove that they had ever been born or that

their parents were ever married, since they had no state-issued

birth or marriage certi�cates. Before the advent of the automobile,

there was certainly no such thing as a state-issued license to

drive a horse and wagon. Nonetheless, today, nearly everyone

has a state-issued birth certi�cate, and practically anyone who

drives a motor vehicle has a state-issued license extending to

them the “privilege” to do so. The constitutional directive for the

decennial census has been expanded to such an extent that

serious consideration is now being given to assigning a federal

identi�cation number to each and every citizen and resident alien

in the United States. How did we in America move from the point

where few of our ancestors were concerned about even having

a record of their birth (much less having a public o�cial make

that record) to the point where we are ready to accept a unique

government number to identify us? How were we convinced to

accept government numbers when our forefathers would have

bristled at the thought?

Here were some of the steps:

1639 - Massachusetts Bay Colony ordered that births and deaths

should be reported to the town clerk by parents or household

owners within one month of their occurrence. Connecticut and

other colonies followed suit in the succeeding years.

1790 - First national census conducted in accordance with Article I,

Section 2 of the US Constitution.

1842 - Massachusetts became the �rst state to require collection

of vital statistics (births and deaths); followed by other states

between 1850 and 1900.

1903 - Massachusetts and Missouri became the �rst states

to require driver’s licenses, though Missouri had no driver

examination law until 1952.

1935 - The passage of the Social Security Act “proved to be a great

stimulus” to birth certi�cation. Many people had never considered

a birth certi�cate to be of any importance until old age assistance,

unemployment insurance, and other rami�cations of the Social

Security Act demonstrated to them that it was necessary to have

this o�cial proof of their existence in order to collect bene�ts.

1961 - The IRS demanded that all taxpayers provide their Social

Security number when paying federal taxes.

1992 - Hospital enumeration-at-birth program (assigning

newborns Social Security numbers) was begun.

Looking at this historical overview, it is easy to see how

government gradualism has prevailed. Like the frog jumping out

of boiling water, the American people would have completely

rejected a national numbering system when the Constitution was

adopted. When the �rst federal census was conducted in South

Carolina, the enumeration was met with considerable resistance.

Several heads of family in the Federal District for Charleston

were indicted in 1791 for “refusing to render an account of their

respective families.” George Washington, in a letter to Governor

Morris, noted that many Americans held religious scruples against

complying with the census o�cials, while others feared that the

census was in some way connected with taxes, and hence refused

to cooperate. However, now after nearly three hundred years of

accepting some limited forms of government enumeration, a

national ID system doesn’t sound so strange.

Clearly, people soon get used to government involvement in

their lives. Our government has always used the carrot and stick

approach to gain cooperation. It threatened punishment for not

complying with its laws; and it promised handouts for obeying.

This was the exact method used by the government’s Social

Security Administration. First it promised that a social security

number would never be used for identi�cation purposes. Then

it promised practically free payouts to the retiring elderly if they

would only apply for a number. Then years later, the SSA and the

IRS threatened all sorts of penalties and loss of privileges if one

refused a number. By 1973, it was required that a social security

number be furnished if one were to open a personal checking

account. Later, one could not claim dependent exemptions unless

one provided their social security numbers on one’s 1040 tax form.

Today, in some states, one cannot obtain a driver’s license without

providing a social security number. What will come next?

What comes next is a compulsory, national ID. Whether

administered at the state or the federal level, each and every

person in the United States would be issued a government

identi�cation, and would be required to use it in order to

participate in numerous activities. A true national identi�cation

card would necessarily be universal (if not issued to every

newborn it would be issued to all children upon their reaching

a certain age) and compulsory (it would become a crime,

punishable by �ne or imprisonment, to refuse to accept or use

such a document). It would also be a violation of the law to have

more than one card, to use the card of another person, or to

hold a card in the name of an alias. A national ID would act as a

domestic passport. In many countries around the world, where

such cards actually exist, they are needed to rent an apartment,

buy a home, apply for a job, pay one’s utility and telephone

bills, withdraw books from the library, or to access health care

services. They could act as a surrogate driver’s license, passport,

voter registration card, hunting/�shing license, and draft card.

With micro-chip technology, such a card would act as a complete

medical, �nancial, tax, and travel dossier, documenting where you

have been, how you got there, and how you paid for the services

you used. In conjunction with data reported to the Internal

Revenue Service, it would enable the government to calculate

how much you owed in taxes each year. National ID micro-chips

could be accessed by all government agencies so the card could

be used to verify that the holder had no delinquent taxes or child

support, no overdue library books, no parking �nes, no bounced

checks, and no unpaid tra�c violations. Micro-chips would also

have the capability to be disabled from a central government

o�ce at the discretion of any government agency, “instantly

rendering its holder unable to travel or function in society.” In

short, government ID would be a license to live, issued by the

government. No longer would life, liberty, and the pursuit of

happiness be a natural, inalienable right.

If one were a conspiracy theorist, one could claim that even

before the passage of the Social Security Act, plans were being laid

to enslave the American population by way of numbering them.

While this might be true, a more reasonable explanation is found

by examining the nature of government. Government, as George

Washington, noted is “force.” It tolerates no competition within its

domains: it is the sole monopolizer of police, courts, and defense

services AND it collects its revenues by threatening con� scation of

property or imprisonment of person if one refuses to pay its levies.

As Lord Acton observed “power corrupts.” When government

has the power to control us, it will use every strategy at its disposal

to increase the amount of taxes assessed and the ease by which

they are collected. What could make this process easier than a

numbering scheme for all its citizens?

Is it too late to resist? In one sense, yes. It is always easier to

resist at the beginning. It is also easier to refuse to cooperate

if one does not accept the basic premise adopted by one’s

opponent. In the case of the frog, the frog would have to reject

being placed in the pot of water, whether it was hot or cold. (Why

else would he be placed there - other than to cook him?) The hog

would have to be smart enough to refuse the bait. By rejecting the

free gift of corn, the hog would have prevented himself from being

gradually led down the trail to capture. The American people, by

accepting the principle that governments should be responsible

for the census and vital statistics, have been easily led down the

trail to national ID.

Although it might be hard to

imagine how this assumption

of government enumeration

power could have been averted,

there have been at least two

partially successful campaigns

against national ID. In the early

1900s, Mahatma Gandhi led a

resistance movement against

the registration of Indians in

the South African Transvaal. An

Englishman who lived there

called the registration “the

fastening of the dog’s collar”

around the neck of the Indians.

At a meeting in late 1906, Gandhi called the government’s

bill a violation of basic civil rights and urged the entire Indian

community in the Transvaal to openly resist complying with

such a law. Thus was born the idea of Satayagraha (nonviolent

resistance to unjust governmental demands), which was

successfully implemented in both the Transvaal and during the

Indian movement for independence from Great Britain after World

War II. Forty years later, a similar, massive public protest arose in

Australia when the government proposed a national ID card for all

Australians.

Now that Americans are faced with a similar challenge, there

are a few general observations that we ought to remember:

In a society where the people have been issued a national ID

card by their government, they - the people - are no longer free

because their permission to live, work, and play comes from

the government.

The logical outcome of government involvement in enumeration

is the type of population control described by the authors of

such � ctional disutopias as Brave New World and 1984. This is

why national ID systems have been described as “a trademark of

totalitarianism.”

From the Biblical story of King David (who caused a plague

by counting his people), to the Roman censors who counted

Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem, to today’s call for national ID, the

essential purpose behind government data-gathering has always

been the same: to enhance government’s control over its subject

population. Government identi� cation programs - whether the

censuses of antiquity, or based upon a birth certi� cate, a Social

Security card, a driver’s license, a smart card (the programmable

micro-chip), or even an implanted micro-chip or some other form

of biometric recognition - are all based upon the same principle:

that government has the right and necessity to track, monitor,

and control the people and property within its geographic

jurisdiction. Thus the primary danger of implementing a national

ID system in the United States is that it delivers totalitarian power

to the federal government. As political scientist, Theodore Lowi,

wrote in 1981,

“Every action and every agency of contemporary government ...

contribute to the ful� llment of its fundamental purpose, which

is to maintain conquest. Conquest manifests itself in various

forms of control, but in all those forms it is the common factor

tying together into one system the behavior of courts and cops,

sanitation workers and senators,

bureaucrats and technocrats,

attorney generals, pressure

groups and presidents.”

Although Lowi did not

include them, we might

add government health

departments (that issue birth

certi� cates), government motor

vehicle administrations (that

issue driver’s licenses), the

Immigration and Natural

ization Service (which is

responsible for keeping track of

aliens within the United States),

and the O� ce of Homeland

Security (which is responsible for protecting us from terrorists).

If and when it comes, a national ID program will � t hand in

glove with Lowi’s description of the “fundamental purpose” of

government which is “to maintain conquest.”

In making their ultimate decision whether to accept or reject a

national ID, Americans need to remember two things:

First, a national ID and enhanced governmental powers always go

hand in hand.

Second, for thousand of years, people have lived, died, and

prospered without government ID. If they could do it, we certainly

can. Sure, it is necessary that we have food, shelter, and clothing

but that doesn’t mean that our government must compulsorily

supply us with these things any more than it needs to furnish

each of us with a national ID number.

Five pages of Cho’s manifesto were made public. Eighteen

other pages have been censored from public view. We have to

wonder what is so dark and secretive that it has been placed off-

limits to the American people.

Adding to the deepening mystery was the inscription written

in red ink along Cho’s arm. It simply said, “Ismail’s Ax.” Adding

WR�WKH�VLJQL¿FDQFH�RI�WKH�LQVFULSWLRQ��&KR�SODFHG�,VPDLO�$[�RQ�WKH�

return address of the package sent to NBC.

At this point, we can only speculate as to what Ismail Ax

meant to mass murderer Cho. However, the following Islamic

teaching concerning Abraham’s destroying of idolatry with an ax

PD\�VXSSO\�FOXHV�DV�WR�WKH�WKLQNLQJ�WKDW�IXHOHG�WKH�KRUUL¿F�UDJH�RI�

Mr. Cho. Furthermore, Muslims teach that Ismail was the heir to

the Abrahamic legacy. Could it be that the Virginia Tech massacre

was an attempt by Cho to imitate Abraham’s attack on idolatry and

paganism?

Here’s the story taken from Islamic folklore. Judge

for yourself. Prophet Ibrahim, The father of the Prophets

The birth of a Great Prophet

Ibrahim was born in a house of idolaters, in the kingdom of

Babylon. His father Aazar was a well-known idol sculptor that his

people worshipped. As a young child, Ibrahim used to watch his

father sculpting these idols from stones or wood. When his father

was done with them, Ibrahim would use them as toys, riding on their

backs, and kicking them at times. Then after a while, he would see

these same statues in the temple, and people prostrating in front

of them! Ibrahim asked his father: “Why do you take these toys to

the temple?” His father said: “They are statues that represent our

gods. We worship them, we ask favors from them, and we offer them

presents.” Ibrahim’s mind rejected this idea, and he felt repulsion

towards the idols.

In search for the Truth

Time went by, and Ibrahim became a young man. He still

could not believe that his people were worshipping the statues. He

laughed whenever he saw them entering the temple, lowering their

heads, silently offering the statues the best of their food, crying and

asking forgiveness from them. He started feeling angry towards his

people, who could not realize that these are only stones that could

neither benefit nor harm them. They could not be gods. They have no

power. God is Greater than what his people were worshipping, Most

Powerful, Most Magnificent. One could not find Him sitting on a table

in a temple!

One night, Ibrahim went up to the mountain, leaned against

a rock, and looked up to the sky. He saw a shining star, and told his

people: “Could this be my Lord?” But when it set he said: “I don’t like

those that set.” The star has disappeared, it could not be God. God

is always present. Then he saw the moon rising in splendor and told

them: “Could this be my Lord?” But it also set. At daybreak, he saw the

sun rising and said: “Could this be my Lord, this is bigger?” But when

the sun set, he said: “O my people I am free from all that you join as

partners with Allah! I have turned my face towards Him Who created

the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to Allah.”

Our Lord is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and everything.

He has the power to make the stars rise and set. Ibrahim then heard

Allah calling him: “O Ibrahim!”

Ibrahim said trembling: “Here I am O my Lord!”

“Submit to Me! Be a Muslim!” the voice said.

Ibrahim fell on the ground, prostrating and crying, he said: “I

submit to the Lord of the universe!” Ibrahim kept prostrating until

night came again. He got up and went back to his home, in peace, full

of conviction that Allah has guided him to the Truth.

Ibrahim invites his father to Islam

A new life started for Ibrahim. His mission now was to call

his people to the Truth. He would start with his father who was the

closest person to him, and whom he loved so much. He said to him

in the softest and kindest voice: “O father! Why do you worship that

which doesn’t hear, doesn’t see, and cannot avail you in anything? O

father, I have gotten knowledge which you have not, so follow me. I

will guide you to a straight path.”

His father replied angrily: “Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim? If

you don’t stop I will stone you. Get away from me before I punish you.”

Ibrahim said: “Peace be on you! I will ask forgiveness of my Lord

for you.”

Ibrahim confronts his people and rejects their idols

He left his father after he lost hope to convert him to the right

path, and directed his efforts towards the people of the town, but they

rejected his call and threatened him. By Allah, he said, I shall plot a

plan to destroy their idols. He knew that a big celebration was coming

soon, where everybody would leave town for a big feast on the

riverbank. After making sure that nobody was left in town, Ibrahim

went towards the temple armed with an ax. Statues of all shapes and

sizes were sitting there adorned with decorations. Plates of food were

offered to them, but the food was untouched. “Well, why don’t you

eat? The food is getting cold,” he said to the statues, joking. Then with

his ax he destroyed all the statues except one, the biggest of them. He

hung the ax around its neck and left.

How big was the shock when the people entered the temple!

They gathered inside watching in awe their gods broken in pieces.

They wondered who might have done this? Then they all remembered

that the young Ibrahim was talking evil of their idols. They brought

him to the temple and asked him: “Are you the one who has done this

to our gods?”

Ibrahim said: “No, this statue, the biggest of them has done it.

Ask them if they can speak.”

“You know well that these idols don’t speak!” they said

impatiently.

“Then how come you worship things that can neither speak

nor see, nor even fend for themselves? Have you lost your minds?”

Ibrahim replied.

They kept silent for a while, for he got a point there. Their minds

and their senses were telling them that the Truth is with Ibrahim, but

their pride prevented them from accepting it, and from rejecting the

idols they were worshipping for generations. This they thought would

be total defeat. They started yelling at him and shouting: “Burn him!

Burn him! Take revenge for your gods!”

The Miracle: Allah saves Ibrahim from the fire.

The decision to burn Ibrahim to death was affirmed by the

priests and the king of Babylon, Nimrod. The news spread like a fire in

the kingdom, and people were coming from all places to watch the

execution. A huge pit was dug up and a large quantity of wood was

piled up. Then the biggest fire people ever witnessed was lit. The fire

flames were so high up in the sky that the birds could not fly over it for

fear of being burned!

Ibrahim’s hands and feet were chained, and he was put in a

catapult to throw him into the fire. At that time, Angel Jibreel came to

him and said: “O Ibrahim! Is there anything you wish for?”

Ibrahim could have asked to be saved from the fire, to be taken away,

but no, he said: “I only wish that Allah be pleased with me.”

The catapult was released, and Ibrahim was thrown in the

heart of the fire. But Allah would not allow His Prophet to be killed.

He ordered the fire: “O fire! Be coolness and safety for Ibrahim!” And

the miracle happened. The fire obeyed and burned only his chains.

Ibrahim came out from it as if he was coming out from a garden,

peaceful, his face illuminated, and not a trace of smoke on his clothes.

People watched in shock and said: “Amazing! Ibrahim’s God has

saved him from the fire!”

Ibrahim debates the Babylonian king, Nimrod

Ibrahim’s notoriety grew bigger after this event, and the king

of Babylon felt that his throne was in danger, and that he was losing

power because he was pretending that he was a god. He sent for

Ibrahim. He wanted to debate with him and show his people that he,

the king is indeed the god, and Ibrahim was a liar. He asked Ibrahim:

What can your god do that I cannot?

“My Lord is He Who gives life and death.” Ibrahim said.

“I give life and death. I can bring a person from the street and

have him executed, and I can grant my pardon to a person who was

sentenced to death and save his life,” the king said proudly.

“Well, my Lord Allah makes the sun rise from the East. Can you

make it rise from the West?” Ibrahim countered.

The king was confounded. He was beaten at his own game, on

his own territory, in front of his own people! Ibrahim left him there

speechless and went back to his important mission, calling people to

worship the one and only God, Allah.

Allah blesses Ibrahim with a son to become a prophet

Only a woman named Sarah and a man named Lot believed

in Allah, and followed Ibrahim. He realized that nobody else would

listen to him, and decided to emigrate for the cause of Allah, and to

spread His Message elsewhere. Before leaving, he tried once again to

convert his father to Islam, but to no avail. Ibrahim said to his father

and his people: “We are free of you and of whatever you worship

besides Allah. We have rejected you, and there has arisen between us

and you enmity and hatred forever unless you believe in Allah and

Him alone.”

Ibrahim, Lot and Sarah started their long travel. They crossed

Babylon, went through Syria and Palestine calling people to Allah,

helping the poor and doing good deeds. By that time Ibrahim

married Sarah. Their hope was to have children who would spread

the Message of Allah after their death. As for Lot, he emigrated to the

land of Sodom and settled there.

Time went by and no children were born to Sarah. She realized

she was sterile. She accepted her fate and submitted to the will of

Allah. Ibrahim and Sarah moved to Egypt where the king gave Sarah

a woman to be her servant. The woman’s name was Hajar. Sarah

was seeing Ibrahim’ s hair getting white, and it grieved her to see

his chance of having a child slipping away. She offered Hajar her

servant as a wife to her husband, and prayed Allah to bless Hajar and

Ibrahim with a child. And so came Ismail, a baby boy born to Hajar.

How unselfish Sarah was! For her, the need to have an offspring who

would carry the Message after Ibrahim was greater than her pride.

Fourteen years later, Allah rewarded Sarah with a son, Ishaq, in spite

of her old age.

Ibrahim woke up one day and asked Hajar to prepare herself

and baby Ismail for a long travel. Ibrahim and Hajar kept walking,

crossed a fertile land followed by barren mountains till they arrived

at the Arabian Desert. Ibrahim brought Hajar to a high hill called al-

Marwa, made her and her baby sit under a tree, placed a bag of dates

and some water near her, and set out homeward. Hajar ran after him

and said: “Are you going to leave us in this desert where there is

no one to keep us company?” She repeated this many times but he

would not look back at her. She asked: “Has Allah ordered you to do

so?” He said yes. “Then He will not neglect us.” She said.

Ibrahim walked away until he got out of their sight, he raised

his hands and prayed Allah: “O our Lord! I have made some of my

off spring dwell in a valley with no cultivation, by Your Sacred House,

in order that they may off er prayers. So fi ll some hearts among men

with love towards them, and provide them with fruits, so that they

may give thanks.”

Zamzam Hajar went on nursing Ismail and drinking from the water

until it was all used up. She became very thirsty and the child was

crying. She left him on the al-Marwa hill and hurried to the nearest

hill, as-Safa. She stood there and started looking at the valley keenly

so that she might see somebody, but she could not see anybody. She

descended from as-Safa, crossed the valley running and reached

al-Marwa hill. She stood and started looking but could see nobody.

She kept running between as-Safa and al-Marwa seven times. When

she reached al-Marwa for the last time, she was exhausted. She sat

next to the baby. Then she heard a voice. She stood up and said: “O

whoever you might be! Have you got something to help me?’ She saw

an angel, Angel Jibreel, digging the earth until water fl owed! She built

a little basin around it. She scooped water with her hands, drank,

fi lled her water-skin, and nursed her baby. The place from which

water fl owed was Zamzam. Muslims till this day drink from the holy

water of Zamzam, and during Hajj they walk between as-Safa and

al-Marwa seven times to commemorate this event.

Some Arabs traveling through Makkah saw birds fl ying around

al-Marwa. “They must be fl ying around water,” they said. When they

arrived at the water, they found Hajar and asked her: “Would you

allow us to stay with you, and use the water from your well?” She

agreed and was pleased by their company. The people sent for their

families, settled there and became permanent residents. The whole

valley became alive. Ismail grew up, learned Arabic, and later married

a woman from amongst the Arabs.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim, who had not seen his son since he was a

baby, came back to Makkah to visit him. Upon arriving, he heard that

Hajar had died, but Ismail was still living there. Ibrahim was yearning

to see his son whom he loved and missed a lot. He saw Ismail under

a tree near Zamzam, sharpening his arrows. When he saw his father,

Ismail rose up, hugged him and greeted him. It was the happiest

moment for both father and son.

But Allah wanted to put them to test, and it was a tough test

indeed. During one night, Ibrahim had a dream. He came to Ismail

and said: “O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering

you as a sacrifi ce to Allah, so what do you think?” They both realized

that this was an order from Allah.

Ismail said without hesitation: “Do what you are commanded,

you shall fi nd me very patient and shall Allah.” They had both

submitted to the will of Allah. Ibrahim laid his son prostrate, put his

forehead on the ground and directed a sharp knife towards his neck.

At this very moment, Allah called him: “O Ibrahim! You have

fulfi lled the dream! Thus do We reward the good doers!” A big sheep

was sent down from heaven to be slaughtered instead of Ismail,

which Ibrahim did, and they both had a big celebration that day. This

event is celebrated every year by all Muslims. It is Eid al-Adha where

we slaughter the sacrifi cial sheep.

Ibrahim and Ismail kept on calling people to worship Allah. At

that time there was no place built for the worship of Allah. Ibrahim

wished there could be such a place where people would be in

peace, and concentrate solely for the worship of Allah. His wish was

answered when Allah ordered him to build the Sacred House, the

Ka’bah. Ibrahim said to Ismail: “O Ismail, Allah has given me an order,

will you help me execute it?”

“Yes I will.” Ismail said. “Allah has ordered me to build a house

here,” he said, pointing to a hillock higher than the land surrounding

it. They went towards the place and started building the foundations

of the Ka’bah. Ismail brought the stones and Ibrahim built the walls,

and when the walls became high, Ismail brought a large stone and

put it in front of his father who stood over it and carried on building,

while Ismail was handing him the stones. Both of them went on

building and going around the Ka’bah, saying: “O our Lord accept this

service from us.”

When they fi nished the building, Angel Jibreel descended from

heaven and showed Ibrahim the rituals of Hajj. Then Ibrahim stepped

on the stone and called on people: “O people obey your Lord.” This

large stone which Ibrahim stepped on is still there to this day near the

Ka’bah. It is called Makam Ibrahim.

Thus ends the story of Ibrahim, the father of the prophets. From him

descended all the prophets who came later, including Muhammad,

sallallahu alayhe wa sallam. Ibrahim devoted all his life calling

others to the True religion: Islam. Alone he stood against his people,

his father, and even the mighty king of Babylon, and never fl inched.

Yet his method was always to gradually persuade them by bringing

irrefutable proofs, that most often embarrassed those who refused to

accept the Truth, but as Allah said: “Any whom Allah leaves to stray,

there is none to guide!”

This story about Abraham’s ax and the o� ering of Ismail is

obviously not true, since it directly contradicts the Bible. However,

could this story have provided the inspiration for America’s

greatest mass murder and the inscription ISMAIL AX?

Perhaps someday we will know if the government or NBC

ever releases the other eighteen pages of the Cho manifesto. Until

then, we wonder!
