To achieve MRICS you must undertake theAssessment of Professional Competence(APC).
Your level of assessment will depend on your professional work experience andeducation.
The APC ensures that candidates are competent and meet the high standards
of professionalism required to become a chartered surveyor.
To qualify you will need to demonstrate your competence in
your chosen APC pathway. This is done through written submissionswritten submissions and a finalfinal
assessment interviewassessment interview.
You will need to provide:
• A summary of experience against your chosen competencies set in
your pathway
• A case study on one of your recent projects which demonstrate your professional
capacity and technical understanding
• A record of up to 96 hours (depending on your level of experience) of continuing
professional development (CPD) annually.

final assessment.

Final assessment presentation andinterview masterclassThe course is designed to provide candidates withthe knowledge and skills required to avoid interviewpitfalls and confidently pass the final assessment. Itfeatures interactive exercises based on keycompetencies which allow you to practice andprepare thoroughly for your final assessment.

Final assessment mock interviewThere is no better way to help you succeed in your
final assessment than to experience a mock interview.
This session allows you to experience an APC-style
interview and to practice delivering your presentation
and answering interview style questions on your
competencies, ethics and professional practice. It will
also give you the vital opportunity to experience what
the interview process is like and receive feedback from
an experienced APC assessor.
DurationDuration: Each session will last 40 min followed by 20
min feedback. The session will be divided as followed:
• Candidate’s presentation (10min)
• Interview - assessing technical competencies (25
min)
• Interview - assessing ethics competencies (5min).

deliver your competence at all stages of the

The course, deliveredover 2 days, isconducted byexperienced assessorswho share theirexpertise andknowledge. It isdesigned as aninteractive workshopwhere attendees testtheir various skills andcompetencies and learnAPC interviewtechniques.
Day 1 – Applicable to candidates from allpathwaysThe first day covers the sequence and procedures of
the final assessment as well as the most common
reasons for referral of candidates.
General APC matters and concerns that may arise will
be addressed by the assessors, refreshing your
knowledge of the process.
Candidates will learn techniques and methods to
prepare and deliver a successful presentation and will
each deliver a short presentation. The aim of this is to
build up confidence and prepare candidates for the
interview presentation the following day.
Day 2 – Pathway specificThe day will include a short representational mock
interview run by current APC assessors who will give
examples of how (not) to answer questions asked by
the panel during the interview.
During the day candidates may be grouped according
to their various pathways.
Candidates will deliver a short presentation (prepared
the evening before) and answer questions from a
panel, providing the opportunity to focus fully on your
final assessment and gain confidence through
constructive feedback.
