2. Ministry of Education and School School Board Approved Sites
The Ministry of Education in Ontario creates the curriculum outlining the expectations of what is to be taught in all subject areas of each grade. It is up to school boards, and individual schools and teachers to decide which materials will be used to cover each topic in the curriculum to meet the student outcomes expected by the ministry.

Search tips: • Use “Browse by Curriculum”, select “grade” and “subject”
• Try a few activities in English first to get used to the way things are set up.
• Do NOT select by “strand” or “French language” unless necessary as this greatly limits options.
• Kids love “Interactive Learning” under “Resource Filter Types” on the left side panel.
• Once you are comfortable, try activities in French by clicking on “French” near the top right corner of the screen.

School & School Board Online Resources There are many school boards in Ontario, each spending their funding in ways they feel are most appropriate to their situation. Some have chosen to subscribe to a variety of online learning resources which they make available to their students.
Check with your school librarian or school board or school’s website. Look for labels as ‘digital’ or ‘online resources’, ‘virtual library’, ‘homework help’ or even just ‘links’ in the ‘Student’, ‘Parent’, ‘Student Resources’ or ‘Parent Resources’ section of the website. Some of these resources will require a password, which you can get from your librarian

5. What’s an app and where do I get one?
The term "app" is a shortening of the term "application software”, and commonly refers to programs for mobile devices. A mobile app is a computer program designed to run on smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. …The explosion in number and variety of apps made discovery a challenge, which in turn led to the creation of a wide range of review, recommendation, and dedicated online app-discovery services. (wikipedia, 2014)
