Tuesday, June 9 (Ages 4– 5 with Adult) 10–11:30 am OR 2–3:30 pmGRANDMA AND ME: PLANT PALSFEE: $35 member pairs, $40 non-member pairsHunt for plants used to make gum, chocolate, baskets, flooring and musical instruments. Make an edible sculpture out of colorful vegetables. Then take home a tomato plant in your own decorated pot and tend to it all summer long.

Monday, July 27 OR Wednesday, July 29 (Ages 6–9) 9 am–2 pmEXPLORE THE JAPANESE GARDEN–NEW! FEE: $50 members, $57 non-membersEnjoy a full day of learning about the Japanese Garden! Walk along winding paths and observe rocks, waterfalls, sculpture, bridges and learn their significance. Back in the classroom, learn about Japanese culture. Make and sample Udon noodles, create a mini-Zen garden in a box to take home and paint a scroll with brush and ink. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.

Monday, July 27 OR Wednesday, July 29 (Ages 10–14) 9 am–2 pmINVESTIGATE THE JAPANESE GARDEN–NEW! FEE: $50 members, $57 non-members Start the day with a visual scavenger hunt to look for unique features in the Japanese Garden—a 20,000 pound boulder, a zigzag bridge, a sculpture that turns your reflection upside down, cascading waterfalls and a tree that looks like it has clouds. Then head back to the classroom to create a mini-garden with Japanese influence, work on wiring a demonstration bonsai tree with a bonsai artist, try your hand at calligraphy and watercolor and make a small bamboo easel to display your creations. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.

August 3–6 (Ages 6–7) 9:30 am–12 pmROCKS AND FOSSILS FEE: $80 members, $87 non-membersLearn about sedimentary rocks using graham crackers and chocolate chips. Experiment with sculpture tools on a piece of alabaster, explore rock hardness and magnetism and start a rock collection that rocks!

August 3–6 (Ages 10–12) 9:30 am–12 pmFRENCH CULTURE AND COOKING IFEE: $90 members, $97 non-membersDevelop your cooking skills as you learn about French sculptors, French words and French culture. Make delicious French dishes and sample all your delicacies.

Then use this inspiration to create a fun paint project every day. Designed with working parents in mind, these camps provide a full action-packed week with different themes every day. They include the most popular, theme-tested kids’ activities at Meijer Gardens, from interactive tram rides to fun on the farm to innovative art projects. Activities are adapted for age-appropriate skills.

Explore the Japanese Garden, learn about Japanese culture and create a Japanese inspired work of art. Make real butter from cream, design boats to sail on the Great Lakes Garden, take a Kids’ Tram tour of the Sculpture Park. Create unique works of art with paint, clay, rocks, found objects, patterned duct tape and other materials. Investigate wildlife in the wetlands, play old-fashioned games at Michigan’s Farm Garden, and develop simple cooking skills, among other engaging activities. Bring a lunch and water bottle.
