• …know how to agree and disagree with Upper Management. AND, if you are upper management, know how to be willing to listen to those that disagree with you.

• …know how to work within the framework of a team. • … establish and develop working relationships. • …follow through on assignments. • …transition well from being the “doer” to the manager of the

“doers.” • …are able to sort out and account for political implications. • …be the person that others want to be around.


You also need to; • …reach out to someone you respect and latch

on to them. Let them mentor you. • …be nice and respectful to people you really

don’t like, for the good of the goals, mission and vision of the agency.

• …make sure everyone at SCRPA knows who you are.

• …make sure those that make the final decisions in your agency know you and respect you. This will be because of your work, not that you kissed up to them.
