PRESS RELEASEThe Peruvian American Medical Society, a professional, scientific and philanthropic organization founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1973, has established a Relief Fund within our Endowment Fund to assist the victims of the recent earthquake that has affected a large territory south of the Capital City of Lima, Peru. The port city of Pisco has lost its basic infrastructure, with 80% of its houses being destroyed. Devastating damages have also being sustained in the cities of Chincha, Cañete and Ica. The death toll in the catastrophe is now exceeding 540. Our organization in partnership with International Relief Organizations such as Direct Relief International and Brother’s and Brother will assist in restoring the medical infrastructure, particularly in hospitals and medical clinics that assist people with meager economical resources.We appeal to our membership, our friends and individuals and organizations with altruistic spirit to help us in this relief effort.
