FORTY YEARS OF ANSWERING GOD’S CALL TO JAMAICA As the mission team gears up to serve in Jamaica next week, I am in awe of all that I have seen God do through those who have been willing to serve. There is something much more to this trip than just eye care and construction projects. It’s more than getting to enjoy a beautiful country with some new and old friends, it’s about relationships. It’s about relationships with people from the planning stages to those who travel to Jamaica to those who pray over the trip, to those patients that visit the clinic. Most importantly it’s about our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We are called, as the body of Christ, to care for the needy and hurting and, more importantly, to care for the soul of a person. Soul care that encourages fellow believers and shows a loving Savior to the lost in our world. Sometimes soul care comes in the form of restored sight, a new chicken coop, a smile or a song in the waiting room on a stressful day. I could tell story after story (please ask me any time) of how God has used people on this trip to show me His love in a new way and grow my relationship with Him. We are all called to the mission field to share God’s love with the world around us. The mission field is in our everyday life, not just in a foreign country. Find your mission field, step out in faith and allow God to use you for some soul care. Please keep the Jamaica mission team in your prayers during the upcoming week as we serve to restore not only physical sight, but also spiritual sight. FORTY YEARS OF ANSWERING

GOD’S CALL TO JAMAICA

As the mission team gears

up to serve in Jamaica next

week, I am in awe of all

that I have seen God do

through those who have

been willing to serve.

There is something much

more to this trip than just eye care and construction projects.

It’s more than getting to enjoy a beautiful country with some

new and old friends, it’s about relationships. It’s about

relationships with people from the planning stages to those

who travel to Jamaica to those who pray over the trip, to

those patients that visit the clinic. Most importantly it’s about

our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We are called, as

the body of Christ, to care for the needy and hurting and,

more importantly, to care for the soul of a person. Soul care

that encourages fellow believers and shows a loving Savior

to the lost in our world. Sometimes soul care comes in the

form of restored sight, a new chicken coop, a smile or a song

in the waiting room on a stressful day. I could tell story after

story (please ask me any time) of how God has used people

on this trip to show me His love in a new way and grow my

relationship with Him.

We are all called to the mission field to share God’s love with

the world around us. The mission field is in our everyday life,

not just in a foreign country. Find your mission field, step out

in faith and allow God to use you for some soul care. Please

keep the Jamaica mission team in your prayers during the

upcoming week as we serve to restore not only physical

sight, but also spiritual sight.

The Prayer Room (Children’s

Ministry area in the Youth Wing) will

be open August 2-4 from 6:00 am

Friday morning - 8:00 p.m. Sunday

night. The time commitment is 30

minutes (sign up for multiple slots if

you like) and can be reserved

exclusively by your family if you would

like to have a private time of prayer.

Some of you participated during our

June Prayer days and know that the

room is set up in several different

stations will remain the same, but there

will some new ones added for the

schools, teachers, and students as

they begin a new academic year.

If you would rather sign-up for an

overnight slot, please be sure you sign

up with a spouse or friend. You can

register online with the link below and

please do share it with others. If you do

so with your email address, the

website will send you a helpful

reminder to pray.

Use the link below to register. You can

pray from anywhere but we encourage

you to consider praying at the church,

utilizing the stations as an

encouragement to yourself and others

who will be joining you throughout

these hours.

FROM THE JOY CLINIC Thank you Pine Forest, for your recent donation to the Laurens

Baptist Association JOY clinics. You can only imagine how

beneficial this is! These clinics serve our working citizens who do

not have health insurance. Your support is appreciated!

LEADERSHIP FORUM

WILL MEET ON MONDAY, JULY 15

AT 6:30 P.M.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS … from Kim

We are looking for someone (or a rotation of 3-5 people) to

pour into our children. These people would be friends with our

preschool/kindergarten kids on Wednesday nights from 4:00 -

5:30 that includes a homework time (might be educational games

or color sheets), play time, and available during the lesson as an

extra set of hands. This can be a stay at home parent, a retired

grandparent, or someone whose schedule allows flexibility in

order to be here during those hours. All volunteers undergo a

background check and Safe Sanctuary training. Thank you again

for helping us pour into the children as they learn more about the

love of Jesus Christ and grow in wisdom and stature. If you are

interested please let me know.

MUSIC NOTES …. from Mary

CHANCEL CHOIR – This Sunday we will sing “The Love of God,”

with solos by Adrienne Rogowski and Phil Lavender. Summer is

an open invitation to sing in choir---join us in the sanctuary at

10:30 any Sunday and we will briefly practice what we will sing at

11AM. All songs guaranteed to be easy! No robes required---only

your smile and your voice. If you attend the 8:45 or 11AM service,

the choir slips out after singing their anthem, about 11:15. Check

it out and see why there are so many happy folks with a big song

in their hearts!

Pine Forest night at Camp Meeting is Sunday, July 21st. We

will take a church bus and carpool, leaving at 5:55---everyone

is invited to sing in the choir!
