OVERVIEW Hunger is a real and serious issue in our communities.

With your help, FeedMore is here for those neighbors when they need it most.

Students at risk of hunger have a hot meal at the end of the day through our Kids Cafe program. Weekends are worry free because of our BackPack program. And when school is out, our Summer Food Service Program helps ensure kids and teens across our region will have access to healthy breakfast and lunch meals.

Seniors throughout our region can rest easy because someone will check on them to ensure they are safe and provide a nutritious meal, and friendly smile, with our Meals on Wheels program. The Commodity Supplemental Food program supports the nutritional needs of low-income seniors by providing wholesome food to supplement their diet, while helping stretch their food dollars.

Families are a little less stressed because they can count on our nearly 300 agencies, including pantries, soup kitchens and group homes, that we support through our Distribution Center, to extend a helping hand when they need it. And neighbors know when they live in an area with limited access to food, our Mobile Pantry will be there for them, providing fresh, nutritious food for well-balanced meals.

This toolkit was created to help your fundraising efforts for FeedMore. Your support of FeedMore allows us to strengthen our ability to collect, prepare and distribute healthy food to neighbors in their times of need. We’re here to help you, so if you have any questions, please let us know!

ABOUT HUNGER IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA In Central Virginia, more than 200,000 individuals, or 1 in 7 of our neighbors, struggle with hunger. And of that, 1 in 6 kids, or nearly 50,000 children, aren’t receiving the necessary nutrition. Many of the neighbors FeedMore helps are the working poor, who are struggling to consistently

make ends meet.

ABOUT FEEDMORE FeedMore collects, prepares and distributes food across 34 cities and counties in Central Virginia. Every year, FeedMore provides more than 20 million meals of food through our programs and

network of nearly 300 agencies. For every $1 donated, FeedMore can provide four meals to neighbors in need. 96 cents of every dollar given to FeedMore directly supports the programs that feed our neighbors.

START FUNDRAISING We’re so excited to have you join FeedMore to fight hunger in Central Virginia! Our fundraising platform allows you to create your own fundraising pages easily! You can fundraise to benefit FeedMore and celebrate personal events, like weddings, anniversaries or birthdays, seasonal giving campaigns or community initiatives. Each page can be customized with your own logo, images and story.

As an Individual

When you fundraise as an individual, you will create an individual fundraising page to share with your

friends and family encouraging your network to support your campaign. You’ll set a fundraising goal,

create your own personal story and select your own images to customize your page.

Join a Team

If someone has already created a team page that you’d like to donate to, you can find a listing of all

pages by selecting join a team.

Creating a team allows groups of individuals, organizations, work groups and other entities to create

pages for a campaign of their choosing.

3. Spread the word! Once you’ve established you’ve joined a team or created a team or individual page, it’s time to

get the word out! Share your pages link directly by using the integration tools on your page.

4. Once your fundraising page has been established, you’ll be able to track your fundraising progress in

real-time as donations are made. You’ll receive notifications of activity on your page so you can

personally thank those that are supporting you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Are donations to FeedMore tax- deductible? FeedMore is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. FeedMore is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Since no goods or services are provided in exchange for gifts made online, the gifts full value is tax-deductible. Can I use FeedMore’s logo to promote my campaign? Absolutely! Send us a quick email detailing your campaign and let us know what format you’ll need. Do I need a login? In order to establish a fundraising page (both individual and team), you’ll need to establish an account. You can choose to use your Facebook login or create a new account with your email address. Passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters, with at least one letter, one number and one special character. Will someone who makes a donation receive a receipt? Yes! Any donation given to FeedMore through our online donation platform or mail to us is sent a receipt. Who do I contact with questions? If you have any questions about using platform, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

“The food from this pantry will keep us going for days,” said Joyce D. who comes to the church pantry once a month to help stretch her food budget. “I’m going to make a big stew with all these fresh vegetables and freeze some for later. With a family as big as mine, you have to be creative.”

“The quality of food is so fresh and so good,” said Steve who recently underwent knee surgery. “I’m raising my 3-year-old granddaughter, and this helps me feed her healthy meals.”

“I was recently laid off so every bit helps,” confides Marie holding her 2-year-old son and a bag of Granny Smith apples. “They gave me cabbage, greens, broccoli, tomatoes, chicken, even a pumpkin. It’s a blessing because I can’t afford to buy fresh vegetables at the store.”

“People don’t pay a lot of attention to you at this stage of life,” observed 90-year-old Leeman. But with FeedMore’s Meals on Wheels program, the concern for his well-being is seen and felt each weekday from the visits Leeman receives from FeedMore’s volunteers. “I have met some of the nicest people,” he shared.
