First 5 characters of child’s name + Last 5 characters of child’s BC Number

For example:

• Child’s name (in class register) – Loh Yong Meng Aaron

• Child’s BC Number – T0954321Z

• Login ID – First 5 characters of name + last 5 characters of BC Number =

lohyo4321z

• Last 5 characters of your child’s BC Number – The characters include the last alphabet on your child’s BC Number. You may wish to write your child’s BC Number on a piece of paper and count the last 5 characters from the end of the BC Number.

The Parent’s login is similar to the child’s login.

You need to include p_ (underscore) in front of your child’s Login ID.

For example:

• Child’s login ID: lohyo4321z

• Parent’s login ID: p_lohyo4321z

You can view announcements on the left side of the main page. These announcements can be from the school or the teachers.

Viewing Announcements

If there are many announcements, they will scroll upward. To pause the scrolling, just move your mouse pointer over the announcement.

If you wish to view all announcements in one page, just click on View All.


You can view and track your child’s assigned lessons and tests using the menu tabs indicated here.

Social Learning Wall


Overview and Objectives of the Social

Learning Wall (SLW)

• A virtual platform that provides a safe environment for collaborative discussion and information sharing that induces more proactive and dedicated learners.


Accessing the SLW

1. Click on Collaboration.

2. Click on Social Learning Wall.

Note

• Scroll down to the bottom of the page if you can’t find the SLW.


Sidebar Tools

• The left sidebar panel has now been simplified to show 3 items below. • Manage Avatar

• My Wall

• My Blog

• Additional settings will be found by clicking on each of those 3 options.


Sidebar Tools - Updating your avatar

1. Click Manage Avatar.

2. Click Upload Avatar.

3. Choose your avatar image, then click Open.

4. You also have the option to crop a small area of your avatar to represent your small avatar. This small avatar is used in the Comments box.

5. Click Save Changes.


Sidebar Tools – My Wall

• Clicking on My Wall brings you to your personal wall where you can post various types of articles on your wall.

• Your students will also have their own wall, but with limitations as to the actions they can perform on the wall.


Post Options on Group Wall Posting a Note, Upload Video, Web Video, Web Links


Post Options on Group Wall - Note These are short passages, equivalent to status messages on Edmodo or Facebook.

1. Click on the Note tab.

2. Type in the text box.

3. Click on the Post button.


Post Options on Group Wall – Upload

Video This allows you to upload a MP4 video clip you have created.

1. Click on the Upload Video tab.

2. Type in the description for your video in the text box.

3. Click on Add Video and browse for your video to upload it into the SLW.

4. Click on the Post button.


Post Options on Group Wall – Web

Video This option embeds a Youtube or Vimeo video in the SLW.

1. Click on the Web Video tab.

2. Copy and Paste the video URL into the Video Link field.

3. Click on the Note field. This automatically fill-in based on the description provided by the video’s creator. You can type over this description with your own.

4. Click the Post button.


Post Options on Group Wall – Web Link

This embeds an external web link into the SLW.

1. Click on the Web Link tab.

2. Copy and Paste the web page’s URL into the Link field.

3. Click on the Description field. This is automatically filled-in based on the web page’s meta-data.

4. Click the Post button.


Student’s limited post options

Students have limited options on when posting on the SLW.

• Students can post notes, upload videos, web videos, web links on their wall. However, their privacy is set to Private by default. That means no one can see their posts except themselves.

• Students can comment on any postings on the SLW, if they can view those postings, or is comments on postings are enabled by teachers.

• Students can only delete their own comments. Teachers can also delete student’s comments if deemed inappropriate.

In order to engage in student participation, a teacher must create a Group Wall for the students. This will be shown in the following slides.

2. Click My Account.

3. Followed by Administration.

4. And Update Personal Particulars.

6. Look for the Administration box.

7. And click on the Update Personal Particulars link.
