The Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK) site as Deeside, North Wales, is a centre of excel-lence within the Toyota Group. This site is the first Toyota factory outside Japan to have the honour of building a hybrid vehicle en-gine. The power plant, which is integral to the Hybrid Synergy Drive system, is wholly pro-duced at the North Wales facility. Raw alu-minium is smelted and cast on-site, prior to machining assembly and testing of the fin-ished unit. The finished engines are then shipped to Toyota’s Burnaston car plant in
Derbyshire for installation.
