Segofs Energy Services Limited is an indigenous oil servicing company that provide directional drilling, tool rentals, pressurized habitat, 3D laser scanning and consultancy services to oil and gas industry.

Our clients in the oil and gas industry include Shell, Total, NAOC, NPDC etc. We also work in partnership with Baker Hughes and Schlumberger.

INTRODUCTION

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 3: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

To build a world class integrated drilling, petroleum and facilities engineering service company to help clients construct and produce oil and gas wells and through this create an enabling environment for the workforce to excel and deliver profits to shareholders and investors.

MISSION STATEMENT

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 4: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

To maximize the use of local expertise supported by cutting edge technologies to deliver services to our clients under a competitive price regime without compromising quality, safety and environmental issues.

VISION OF THE ORGANISATION

Safety is to work or carry out an operation effectively and efficiently without putting your health, the health of other workers and the protection of the environment in jeopardy.

Safety ensures one being free from danger or hazard in a workplace. It involves being cautious about your actions and leaving no margin for error. So Do it safely or not at all and remember there is always time to do it right.

SAFETY

Page 7: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

To ensure the health and safety of personal, machineries and environment, various policies have been institutionalized and act as a framework for our operations. They include Health Policy Emergency Response Policy Transport Policy Drug and Alcohol Policy Safety Policy Environment Policy Fraud and Malpractice Policy Policy on Seat Belt Training Policy

SAFETY

It is the science and art of deviating a wellbore along a planned course from the surface location to the subsurface target location both defined with a given coordinate system. It simply involves drilling a borehole that deviates from the vertical.

DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 9: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

To reach a producing zone that is otherwise inaccessible with normal vertical well

To intersect multiple targets with a single wellbore.

To sidetrack a fish in hole or drill around an obstruction

To seal or relieve pressure in an “out of control” or wild well

To reach producing formations that are found under the hard, overhanging cap of salt domes

To increase the length of the payzone within the target rock unit.

To drill offshore hydrocarbons from an onshore location.

REASONS FOR DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

Page 10: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

It is an organised process used to put together data that will be used to design and drill a successful well. It is the planning of well path along a trajectory into a target zone.

Data gotten from the clients are used to develop a geometric profile for the safest and easiest path from the surface location to target with a computer software known as COMPASS.

WELL PLANNING

It is the analysis carried out to avoid a new or reference well from colliding with an already existing well. Collision in drilling operations needs to be eliminated at all times due to the associated risks to personnel, assets and environment.

SESL’s Anticollision Policy provides that a well plan can only be accepted or drilling operation continued if the seperation factor is above 1.5

The bottom hole assembly (BHA) is that portion of the drillstring that affects the trajectory of the wellbore. It helps in directing the bit to the required direction to follow.

The proper selection of the right BHA would go a long way in ensuring high ROP and thus help drill quickly and efficiently.

BOTTOM HOLE ASSEMBLY

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 15: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

A standard bottom hole assembly consists of: Drill Collars Subs (Bit Sub, Float Sub, Crossover Sub) Heavy Weight Drill Pipe Stabilizers (Sleeve, Welded, VGS and Integral blade Stabilizers) Jar Positive Displacement Motor

COMPONENTS OF BHA

Torque is the force applied to the drillstring to

turn it about its axis. It is independent of how fast

the string is being rotated or area of contact, but

dependent on the contact force/side force and

friction factor.

Drag is the resistance that must be overcome

when tripping in or out of the wellbore.

TORQUE AND DRAG

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 17: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

1. Poor Hole Cleaning2. High Dogleg Severity3. Bit or BHA balling4. Metal to metal contact5. Under-gauge hole

WAYS OF REDUCING HIGH TORQUE AND DRAG6. Conditioning the mud to clean the well

efficiently7. Use of friction reducing additives such as

Graphite, Walnut shells, Plastic beads8. Optimize build section

CAUSES OF HIGH TORQUE AND DRAG

Page 18: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

Drilling hydraulics deals with motion of fluids in the drilling system (drill string, annulus and surface lines) and how it can be used to achieve effective hole cleaning without causing damage to the wellbore as well as maintain optimum ROP.

It is a designed work area used for equipment preparation and maintenance. It provides in-house and field support to operations.

Equipment that are found in the Workshop are1. Griffith Torque Master2. Positive Displacement Motor3. Compressor Steam Wash4. Jar Testing Console5. Forklift

IMPORTANCE OF WORKSHOP

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 21: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

• It is the technology used to generate as-built model of a structure or plant.

• The process involves the laser mapping of an area of interest with laser scanner. Survey targets are placed around the area to act as control grid.

• The scanner produces a 360 degree scan image containing millions of point each with individual X,Y,Z coordinates determined by a precise sub-millimetre theodolite.

• The resulting “point cloud” image can be used to generate an intelligent 3D CAD model.

LASER SCANNING

Segofs Energy Services Limited

Page 22: ONYEKWELU IJEOMA PPT

Rapid data capture of large volumes with increased accuracy

Shorter project times with a rapid turnaround of information

Enables accurate off-site fabrication and first-time fit

installations

Improved safety due to less time spent working in hazardous

environments

Eliminates costly 'return visits' to site.

Dramatically reduces expensive rework.

Decreases production disruption.
