Improved Find – Replace

• The wildcard for any string of characters is an asterisk. For example: "come*" finds "come" "complete", and "completely".

• The wildcard for a single character is a period (.). This is equivalent to the ? wildcard when you search for file names.

• The wildcard combination for several characters in succession is .* (period and asterisk). This is equivalent to the * wildcard in file names.

• The wildcard combination for the end of a paragraph is the dollar sign ($), while the wildcard combination for the first character at the start of a paragraph is the caret and the period (^.).

• In the Search box \t is tab, \n is line break and $ is paragraph break. However, in the replace box \n is a paragraph break.

• Regular Expressions check box must be selected.

Search the web using Hyperlink Bar

• Select a word in your document and choose the search engine.

• The default browser will open with all the search results displaying.

• To activate the Hypernlink toolbar – Click on View – Toolbars.

• You can add a new search engine to the list just like you add search plugin to the firefox browser. Click on Tools – Options – Internet – Search.

Extensions

• LanguageTool is a tool to detect errors that a simple spell checker cannot detect, e.g. mixing up there/their, no/now etc. It can also detect grammar mistakes.
