Open choleEquipment, Instruments, Supplies & DevicesRequiredSuction MachineIt is a portable suction apparatus u sed in wards a nd theatres f or aspirating uids a nd vomit
from the mouth and airways, and from operation sites by sucking the material through a
catheter i nto a bottle. The term could also apply to devices which operate from piped
vacuum supplies o r bottle gas cyl inders b ut is m ore commonly u sed to mean electric su ction
units w hich contain a vacuum pump, bacterial lter, vacuum gauge, trap for moisture (or any
debris a ccidentally d rawn into the mechanism), a reservoir for the aspirated material, and a
suction catheter or nozzle. They may be intended to provide high or low vacuum, and high
and low ow rates. Low vacuum is use d for post-operative wound d rainage.
The main reservoir is u sually a glass bottle with volume marks u p the side and sometimes
this h as a oat valve so that the vacuum is c ut off before the bottle becomes f ull enough to
allow the contents to be drawn into the pipe work of the pumping mechanism. However,
frothing of the contents ca n sometimes d efeat the oat valve mechanism.
Electrosurgical UnitThis machine has an escharotics substance, electric current, or ho t iron used to destroy
tissue.

Mobile Video CartThe mobile video cart is equipped with locking brakes and has 4 anti-static rollers. T he
trolley has a drawer and three shelves, the upper shelves have a tilt adjustment and used
for supporting the video monitor unit. Included on the trolley is a n electrical supply terminal
strip, mounted on the rear of the 2nd shelf (from the top).
