Open Education Resource Fundamental of Computer Science and Engineering Section 1: Introduction
1.1 About the OER
OER are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or
have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use
and re-purposing by others. Open educational resources include full courses, course
materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools,
materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge. Open Educational
Resources (OERs) are increasingly being made available by Further Education (FE)
and Higher Education (HE) institutions. They are resources licensed in a way such
that they can be re-used, re-purposed, re-mixed and re-distributed. For more details
The open educational resource is collection of PPT, PDFs, Quiz, videos to understand basic concept of related subject.
Features of OER

After Using this OER, Learner will be able to
More interactive with teacher or facilitator.
Will be familiar with course contain
More expressive and an active on class as well as non-class teaching method Share their knowledge, resources with others.
More centric in learning paradigm
Understand individual unit in details with different teaching methodology like PPT, videos, website and finally they can analyze with quiz.
Will be able to provide feedback for improvement in course according to their requirement.
Understand fundamental concept of Computer Science and engineering.
1.3 Helpful Documentation for Tool Use

Section 2: Design Decisions
Nature of Decisions taken
The design decisions involved in the creation of this OER were of broadly three types:
1. Content Decisions
2. Pedagogic Decisions 3. Technology Decisions
2.1 Content Decisions
Topic: Fundamental concept of Computer Science & Engineering
The content decisions related to –
What: course on Fundamental concept of computer science engineering for GATE preparation.
Why: all team members were familiar with the topic, also willing to share their knowledge as well as resources available with them to students by different teaching methodologies like Moodle.
How: we have created our own course on Moodle site
Engineerlearners.gnomio.com
3
2.2 Pedagogic Decisions
We have divided our course in to two segment.
Out of class Segment: This strategy involves Students to refer different types of Led
(learning videos),Text,PDF,PPT relate do given subject outside the class .After
referring this material they are able to understand the concepts that are relevant to
their subject.so that they feel free to involve in peer discussion in class room strategy.
In Class Segment: In this strategy we have conducted different types of Quiz and LBD activity to analyze them self.
4
2.3 Technology Decisions:
While developing our course major technology decision taken were:
[1] Moodle is open source tool which we have used to teach totally online course or supplement face to face lesson for learners.
[2] Screen cast o Matic: It is a tool used for creating screen recording.it
provides option for creating videos as .MP4files, that can be directly play or we can upload on to YouTube.

3.2 Creating and Accessing Course
After logged in you can directly access the course by clicking on
My courses: OER Activity Fundamental concept for Computer Science and Engineering
Course contents are
Announcements
Screen Cast o Matic recording
Gate 2019 Exam course
This course involves different subjects like Operating system, digital logic, Computer organization and architecture, etc. Now for this OER we have provided activity for only one subject that is Operating system.
7
In this activity we have added different teaching aids like
PDF, PPT resources for reference
Quizzes with feedback
Discussion forum with focused questions
One screen cast o matic video on how to access course components. Feedback survey

Section 4: Evaluating Effectiveness of OER
The effectiveness of OER is calculated at two levels
1. Student level
2. Consumer level
Effectiveness at Student Level:
This OER course is very much useful at the student level. As we have added all the
data in well formatted manner. Contents are added sequentially so that student will
not be confused about how to handle this course. Also there is one screencast video
is provided which will allow student to easily handle the course. The actual use of
this OER is for GATE Exam. Many time students will confused on how to prepare
for GATE so that this course will definitely give answers to their questions.
Report for Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Course:
Students enroll Course Days with Access Quiz Attempted Marks

Effectiveness at consumer level:
OER consumers are the teachers who are going to teach concept mapping to their
students. Our OER is well developed and covered all the contents of syllabus so
that teacher will find it more interesting and easy. Also there are some LED’s and
LXT’s which are related to subjects have been added in course.
Survey:
Every user who is going to enroll in this course or who will download the course
contents will be asked for his email and survey for feedback purpose. Only enroll
users will able to submit the survey. All questions are required and must be
answered.
