Amendment to Kennel Club Regulations F(1) 12.(6) & F (1) 12 (8) - Address withheld for publication.Please note the points below:1) Tick the box near your name and address on the front of the entry form if you do NOT want your

ADDRESS to appear in the catalogue. Your name will still be printed above your dog records as normal.2) Your address is still needed for the sending out of schedules and exhibitor passes. So you must still

enter your address in the normal way.

Entries without fees or with incorrect fees WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Committee have takenthe decision that no credit or refund will be given in the respect of incorrect entry fees sent. Bankcharges incurred as a result of incorrectly completed or dishonoured cheques will be passed on theexhibitor and any exhibitor failing to pay entry fees and/or bank charges will be reported to the KennelClub. There will be a surcharge of £10.

Payment for Entry Fees etc. Cheques/PO’s should be made payable to “Devon County AgriculturalAssociation”. Please do not send cash through the post. Exhibitors wishing to pay by credit or debitcard please complete the card payment section on the back of the entry form. Please enclose a SAE ifyou require confirmation of receipt of entries/or a VAT receipt. The Organisers reserve the right toreturn to the exhibitor all entry forms not properly completed in accordance with the directions given inthe schedule or under Kennel Club rules. Entries will be accepted on re-submission as long as theysatisfy the prementioned requirements.

Welfare of DogsAnyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps toensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by anyactions, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may bereferred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Limited Rules andRegulations.Right to Refuse Entries: Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right underKennel Club Regulations to refuse any entry.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE DOGS IN VEHICLESYour dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in high temperatures and even on days considered asslightly warm. Please take care of your dog.If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for anydamage caused.

Car Parking. Please allow yourselves PLENTY of time to get to the Showground. Display your car parkpass where it can be seen and not on top of the dashboard.

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with new Kennel Club guidelines, Exhibitors mustdisplay exhibit number/owner identification on their crate, cage or container at all times.

RULES AND REGULATIONS1 The Show will open at 8.30 a.m.2 Dogs will be received until 12 noon after which no dogs may be received except under exceptional and unforeseen

circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management.3 Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m.4 Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show will close half an hour

after all judging has been completed, by which time all dogs must be removed.5 The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by

the Show Management.6 Entry Fees: Breed - £7.00 per dog first entry, £3 subsequent entries per dog per class. Handling entries £3 Junior

& Adult. Catalogues £3.00 to be ordered and paid for with entries.7 Prize Money: £25 Best in Show; £15 Res Best in Show; £10 Best Puppy in Show.8 The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.9 Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition.

10 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden.11 Best Puppy in Show. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show

Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting inan Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best incompetitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information).Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competedand is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same Show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelvecalendar months of age on the first day of the show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is apuppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Showrespectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppywhich has only been beaten by an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Groupand Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group andBest Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed. Best in Group and Best in Show respectively.a) Shows Judged on the Group System

1) Best Puppy in Breed. A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breedclasses.

2) Best Puppy in Group. Best Puppy in Group and subsequent puppy group placings must be selected frompuppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy.

3) Best Puppy in Show. Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winnersprovided they are unbeaten by any other puppy.

b) Withdrawal from Other Competition. Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and BestPuppy in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than Breed classes and Best Puppy inBreed, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show as appropriate in order toremain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show maysubsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppyin Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from AnyVariety classes when judged before Breed classes.

c) Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed, will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

12 Best in Show. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulationswhich stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an AnyVariety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best incompetitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for furtherinformation)The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at thesame Show.a) Shows Judged on the Group System. (Definition: Shows judged on the Group system include classes for

breeds within more than one Group, as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge todeclare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Showand Reserve Best in Show).1) Best of Breed. Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from

those exhibits which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes areprovided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.

2) Best of Group. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club ShowRegulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible tocompete in the group or best in competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on theKennel Club Website for further information).Best of Group and subsequent group placings must be selected from:(a) The Best of Breed winners in each Group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs.(b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each

Group or on each day.

3) Best in Show. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club ShowRegulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible tocompete in the group or best in competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on theKennel Club Website for further information).Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. ReserveBest in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show

b) Withdrawal from Other Competition. Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition (other than Breed Classes and Best of Breed) prior to the competitionfor Best of Group or Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition forBest of Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previouslyeligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in anysubsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c) Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13 Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed sincethe announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previousjudging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

14 No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by Permission of the General Committee of the KennelClub, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

15 All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F Annex B – Regulations for the Preparation of Dogsfor Exhibition.

16 All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entryto the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned tothe exhibitor/competitor.

17 DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offersthe following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Clublicensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy

holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of

water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths

of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to direresults. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

18 Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry formand must be Kennel Club registered.

19 The Dog Show will be held under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Show Regulations.20 All dogs must be registered or transferred at the Kennel Club.21 The Committee reserves the right to change times and order of judging to ensure the smooth running of the Show.22 The Devon County Agricultural Association accepts no responsibility for dogs arriving too late for judging.23 The Association cannot be held responsible for accidents to exhibitors, exhibits or members of the public, nor for

loss or damage to any article belonging to exhibitors or members of the public.24 Entry forms without correct fees will be ignored.25 The Devon County Agricultural Association can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by

standholders at the show and remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements ofthe Regulation for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition F (B).

26 Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning theuse of soft crates at shows as in its view they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattendedat the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogsto become distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used whenthere is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured.

27 Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the originalexhibit/bench number card, as provided by the Show Society, must not be used for this purpose.

28 Smoking is not permitted in temporary or permanent structures. Please use the exercise and grooming areasprovided. All accidents to be cleared up immediately.

29 Force Majeure. If an event defined hereafter as Force Majeure occurs the DCAA will not be responsible for thefinancial consequences or any losses or any actions claims or demands caused to or made by an exhibitor or their

servants or agents caused by the failure of the Devon County Show to be held on one or more of the days but forthe event of Force Majeure on which it would otherwise to be held. Force Majeure means for the purposes of thisclause exceptionally inclement weather; flooding of the whole or any part of the Devon County Showground or thewhole or any part of the car parks associated with it; an act of God including but not limited to fire, flood,earthquake, windstorm or other natural disaster; act of any sovereign including but not limited to war, invasion, actof foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, militaryor usurped power or confiscation, nationalisation, requisition, destruction or damage to property by or under theorder of any government or public or local authority or imposition of government sanction embargo or similaraction; law, judgment, order, decree, embargo, blockade, labour dispute including but not limited to strike, lockoutor boycott; interruption or failure of utility service including but not limited to electric power, gas, water or telephoneservice; failure of the transportation of any personnel equipment, machinery supply or material required by DCAAto run the Devon County Show; breach of contract by any essential personnel; any other matter or cause beyondthe control of DCAA.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (Annex B)1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club

licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these ShowRegulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A 42.a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from

exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these

Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A 42.2 a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for

any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part ofthe dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must notbe allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except:a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.b) The removal of dew claws of any breedc) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered

dogs are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Anyexamination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directivefrom the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competingin the same breed or class. An objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone sodeputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (asappropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for anobjection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to the ShowSecretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identity at thetime of lodging the complaint.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESIn the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title ofChampion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins at Championship Shows inbreed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of adog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ classes or competing for Members’ Specials each partner must atthe time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and includingthe seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class, i.e. Wednesday1st April 2015. Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering for Variety classes,wins in both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatevervalue. A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes (excluding AVNSC Classes) unless also entered andsubsequently exhibited in a Breed class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from thisRegulation are:(1) A puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed.(2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran class.(3) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge.(4) Exhibits breed by the scheduled breed judge.If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:(1) Withdrawal

The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.(2) Transfer

a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the ShowSecretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight orheight or, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted, to the Openclass for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior class, which is over age butunder twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty four calendar months ofage respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy class, Junior class or Yearlingclass respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being noPuppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height.

d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dogmay not be transferred to any other class.

PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.NOVICE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open and

Championship Shows (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whetherrestricted or not).

GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First prizes at ChampionshipShows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not,where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes atChampionship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted ornot, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

LIMIT For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of anygoverning body recognised by the Kennel Club or won seven or more First Prizes in all, at Championship Showsin Limit or Open Classes, confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where ChallengeCertificates were offered for the Breed.

OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes are

scheduled.NOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries. Societies may accept

such entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows held over more thanone day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed. Puppies 6 months and over may be enteredNFC. Dogs entered only NFC do not qualify for an entry pass at this show. These will only be sent out toexhibitors ONLY paying with a main exhibitor’s entry fee.

JUNIOR HANDLING A class to be judged on handling, open to all dogs eligible for entry at this show, the entry beingrestricted by the age of the handler in each class. Dogs handled must also be entered and exhibited in Breed orAVNSC classes on the same day at this Show.

Kennel Club Vulnerable Breeds Competition

January 1st 2015 will see the official launch of the Kennel Club ‘Vulnerable British & IrishBreeds Competition‘. This exciting new competition sponsored by Eukanuba andsupported by the competition’s Media Partner ‘Our Dogs’, is the first of its kind establishedby the Kennel Club.

The competition will help raise awareness of our rare native breeds and recognise thosededicated to ensuring their continued survival.

The new competition will start in January 2015 with a Crufts final in 2016 and the main features are:

• The competition is open to all Vulnerable Breeds competing at Open & Championship shows;

• Points can be claimed by winning Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified (AVNSC) andat Championship shows also Group placings;

• The aim of the competition is for dogs to collect the highest number of points for their breed in a calendaryear. At the end of the year the top scoring dog from each breed will be invited to compete at thecompetition’s Crufts Final;

• To receive the latest competition news and to track your success on the leader board.
