    0830 – 1230 Reception Open. 0830 Galley Restaurant open for tea, coffee, light snacks. 0900 - 0930 VIP Boats berth at VIP and Collector Jetties. 0955 - 1010 Pipes & Drums recital at the Clubhouse entrance. 1000 - 1200 Merchandise available for sale in the Foyer. 1000 - 1045 Invited guests to attend Morning Tea - Bridge. 1000 - 1015 Skippers briefing for Sail-Past at Sunset Deck - All skippers requested

    to attend. Conducted by Rear Commodore Sail Trevor Milton. 1030 Arrival of Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC,

    Governor of Western Australia. Receiving by Commodore Bill Burbidge and Mrs Shirley Burbidge.

    1045 All members and Guests invited to move to the Sunset Deck for commencement of ceremony.

    1050 Ceremony for the Opening of the 2016/2017 Season commences. National Anthem to be performed by Pipes & Drums band. Her Excellency and Commodore take the salute from the Bridge Balcony then move to Ceremonial Area on Sunset Deck. Introduction by Vice Commodore of the Reviewing Officer to Past Commodores, Rear Commodores and Board Members. Opening Ceremony Addresses.

    1130 Season declared open. Firing of Cannon and Muskets from VIP Lawn. Club Pennant broken by Harbour Master.

    1135 Flag Officers and Guests board VIP boats along Collector Jetty. Official vessels proceed out of harbour. All boats taking part in Sail-Past move to formation areas as per briefing.

    1200 Signal commencement of Sail-Past. Order of Sail-Past a) Power b) Yachts c) Dinghies Salute taken by Reviewing Officer. All yachts competing in Racing or participating in Cruising proceed to their respective starting areas following the Sail-Past.

    1200 Galley Restaurant open for lunch or enjoy the Tapas menu from the Bar. 1245 Warning signal for Div 1. 1250 Warning signal for Div 2. 1255 Warning signal for JaM Racing Boats. 1300 Cruising JaM Boats Start from Beagle Rock ISO Marker doing Cruising

    Course #2. 1600 – 1700 Presentation of pennants for day’s racing and Cruising prizes on Sunset

    Deck (or Club Bar subject to weather).

  • SKIPPERS BRIEFING FOR SAIL-PAST

    SUNSET DECK - 1000 Skippers of dinghies, yachts and power boats are requested to attend a briefing on the Sunset Deck. The briefing will cover positioning of VIP craft, the assembly area for participating boats and the order of the Sail-Past for the official salute. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS All vessels participating in the FSC Opening Day must comply with current safety requirements, please see Department of Transport website http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/imarine/safetyequipment.asp for further information. DRESSING BOATS To enhance the atmosphere of Opening Day, boat owners are asked to "dress" their boats with flags and other bunting on the morning of Opening Day. A prize will be offered to the best dressed boat in the marina and also the best dressed crew during the Sail-Past. SAIL-PAST - 1200 Details of Sail-Past are weather dependant and will be provided at the briefing on the Sunset Deck at 1000. The following is a guide if the weather is as we hope it will be. Please attend the briefing! 1. At the conclusion of the ceremony declaring the opening of the season, vessels are

    requested to depart the marina in the order of power boats, yachts and dinghies.

    2. Please assemble in the areas shown on the map. 3. When the signal is heard each Section will proceed behind the Section lead boats (lead

    boats will be announced at the Skipper's briefing and will display large Club Sectional Flags). Under the direction of the Harbour Master in an inflatable, the order of Sail-Past will be:-

    1. Power boats - "Cheque Mate" 2. Yachts - Inshore/Offshore "Airborne" – Cruising “The Longboat” 3. Dinghies - "Max Shean"

    4. The Harbour Master will be on standby to direct lead boats. Radio communications will be on VHF Channel 72. All skippers should observe radio watch and unless absolutely necessary maintain radio silence.

    5. Dinghies should follow Dinghy Start Boat after the Sail-Past to the dinghy racing area at

    South Beach for the afternoon race.

    6. Racing Yachts should proceed to the start area in the vicinity of FSC Mark 'L’ or ‘Y’ (depending on wind direction) in preparation for the race start.

    7. Cruising Yachts will start from Beagle Rock ISO Marker use Cruising J&M Course # 2. Please help to make Opening Day 2016 a memorable event by dressing your boat and taking part in the Sail-Past!

  • SUPPLEMENTARY SAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND CRUISING NOTES Races will be governed by the Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, and the 2016/17 Red Sailing Handbook. The Cruising JaM Event will be in accordance with the Cruising JaM Sailing Notes in the 2016/17 Red Sailing Handbook. NOMINATIONS Nomination for the Opening Day Trophy Race will be on the Inshore notice-board and nominations will be accepted up until 11 am on the day. Boats wishing to sail in the Cruising JaM Fleets should note their Expression of Interest to participate on the Cruising notice-board sign-on sheet, up until 11 am on the day. RACING COURSES Course 3 or 9 will be used as printed in the 2016/17 Red Sailing Handbook. STARTING LINE The RACING start line will be located at FSC mark ‘L’ or ‘Y’ Cruisers will sail the Number 2 JaM course, starting from Beagle Rock ISO Marker as per the 2016/17 Red Sailing Handbook. APPROXIMATE WARNING SIGNAL, TIMES & FLAGS – Inshore fleets and Cruising Fleet

    Division 1 1245 Naval Numeral 1 Flag

    Division 2 1250 Naval Numeral 2 Flag

    Racing JaM 1255 Naval Numeral 6 Flag as designated on the day by the Start boat

    TIME LIMITS Boats failing to finish by 1600 will be scored DNF. ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS The presentation of pennants for the days racing will be held between 1600 and 1700 hours on the Sunset Deck (or Club Bar subject to weather). The Cruising Fleet Participation Prizes will be announced at the same time.
