This remote control is designed to operatemost Digital and Analog Cable Boxes, as wellas TVs, and a DVD player.

Introduction

Install twoAAA alkaline batteries

as shown here

Before you program or operate the remotecontrol, you must install two new AAA alkalinebatteries.

STEP1 Remove the battery compartment coverfrom the back of your remote control.

STEP2 Check battery polarity carefully, andinstall the batteries as shown in theillustration below.

A. Quick Set-Up MethodA. Quick Set-Up Method

STEP1 Turn on the component you want toprogram. To program your TV, turn on the TV.

Programming the Remote Control.4*Note : In this section, when you are instructed to

press a [DEVICE] button, that means youshould press either the CBL, TV, or DVDbutton, depending on which device you areprogramming the remote to operate.

STEP2 Press and hold the [DEVICE] key for 5seconds until the Device LED will blinkonce and stays on. Continue to hold the[DEVICE] key and press the number keyassigned to your brand in the Quick Set-up Code Table and release both [DEVICE]key and the number key to save thecode. The Device LED will blink twice toconfirm that the code is stored.

STEP3 Point the remote control at thecomponent.

STEP4 Press the [DEVICE] button. If it turns off,it is programmed for your component. If itdoes not turn off, use the Pre-Programmed 3-Digit code Method orScanning Method.

Repeat the steps above for all components (CBL,TV, DVD).

C. Manual ProgrammingC. Manual ProgrammingThe remote control can be programmed by enteringa three-digit code number that corresponds toparticular brands and models of equipment. Thethree-digit code numbers are listed in the codetables sections of this instruction manual.

STEP1 Turn on the equipment that you want theremote control to operate Cable Box, TVand DVD.

[OK/SEL] button simultaneously for threeseconds. The corresponding device LEDwill turn on indicating that it is ready to beprogrammed. The LED will remain on for20 seconds. The next step must beentered while the LED is on.

STEP3 Point the remote control toward theequipment and enter the three-digit codenumber assigned to your brand from thecode tables. If there are more than onethree-digit number listed for your brand,try one code number at a time until yourequipment turns off.

*Note : You can verify that you have selected thecorrect code by pressing the [MUTE]button. The equipment should turn on oroff.

STEP4 Store the three-digit code by pressing thesame [DEVICE] button once again. Thedevice LED will blink twice to confirm thatthe code has been stored.

*Note : Try all the functions on the remotecontrol. If any of the functions do notoperate as they should, repeat theinstructions from Step 2 using the nextthree-digit code number from the samebrand list.

D. Auto Search MethodD. Auto Search Method

If none of the three digit code numbers assigned toyour brand of equipment works, or the code tabledoes not list your brand, you can use the AutoSearch Method to find the correct three-digit codenumber for your equipment by following steps:

STEP1 Turn on the equipment that you want theremote control to operate (Cable Box, TV,or DVD).

STEP2 Press the [DEVICE] button and the[OK/SEL] button simultaneously for threeseconds. The device LED will turn onindicating that it is ready to beprogrammed. The LED will remain on for20 seconds. The next step must beentered while the LED is on.

STEP3 Press the [CH5] or [CH6] button one at atime or keep it pressed. The remote willemit a series of Power ON/OFF codesignals. Release the [CH5] or [CH6]button as soon as the equipment turns off.

*Note : You can verify that you selected thecorrect code by pressing the [MUTE]button. The equipment should turn On orOff.

STEP4 Press the same [DEVICE] button to storethe code. The Device LED will blink twiceto confirm that the code has been stored.

E. E. To find the Three-Digit Code that WasTo find the Three-Digit Code that WasProgrammed using the Auto Search MethodProgrammed using the Auto Search Method

STEP1 Press the appropriate [DEVICE] buttonand the [OK/SEL] button simultaneouslyfor three seconds. The device LED willturn on for 20 seconds. The next stepmust be performed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [INFO] button. The device LEDwill blink a number of times indicating thenumber of each digit for the code. Eachdigit is separated by a one second

interval of the LED being off.Example : One blink, then three blinks, then eight

blinks indicates the code number 138.

*Note : Ten blinks indicates the number 0.

F. F. Programming a Second TV to the DVD ButtonProgramming a Second TV to the DVD Button

STEP1 Press the [DVD] button and the [OK/SEL]button simultaneously for 3 seconds. TheDVD LED will turn on for 20 seconds. Thenext step must be performed while theLED is on.

STEP2 Press the [TV] button.

STEP3 Point the remote control toward the TV andenter the three-digit code for your TV fromthe TV codes table.

STEP4 Store the three-digit code by pressing the[DVD] button. The device LED will blinktwice to confirm that the code has beenstored.

G. Programming for Advanced Functions.G. Programming for Advanced Functions.In the CABLE device mode, the A,B,C,D and blankmacro buttons can be programmed to act as a'Macro' or Favorite Channel button. This allowsyou to program up to five 2-digit channels, four 3-digit channels or three 4-digit channels that canbe accessed with ONE button press.*Note : The A,B,C and D buttons are not

programmable if you have a DigitalCable Box made by Pace, Pioneer orScientific-Atlanta.

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button to select the CBLmode.

STEP2 Press the [MACRO] button and [OK/SEL]button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The[CBL] button will turn on for 20 seconds.

STEP3 Enter the 2, 3 or 4-digit code for thechannel you want programmed first (forexample, 007) using the Number Pad,then press the [STOP] button. Then enterthe code for the next channel (forexample, 050), then press the [STOP]button. Repeat this process for the thirdchannel. The [CBL] button will blink oncefor each channel entered.

STEP4 Press the [CH5] button to store thechannels that were selected. The [CBL]button will blink twice to confirm thestorage of commands.

To access the programmed channels, pressthe [MACRO] button once. This will bring upthe first channel. Press once again and itwill bring up the second channel. Pressagain and it will bring up the third channel.

To erase the Macro programming and return tothe original function:

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button to select theCABLE mode.

STEP2 Press a [MACRO] button and the[OK/SEL] button simultaneously for 3seconds. The CBL device LED will turn onfor 20 seconds. The next step must beperformed while the LED is on.

STEP3 Press the [CH5] button to erase thefunctions stored in the button. The CBL

device LED will blink twice to confirm thatthe memory button has been erased.

H. H. Assigning the Volume and Mute keysAssigning the Volume and Mute keysto a Different Device to a Different Device

By default, the VOL5, VOL6 and MUTE keysoperate through your TV. If you would like thosekeys to operate those functions on a differentdevice, follow these steps.

STEP1 Press the [OK/SEL] button and [CBL]button simultaneously for three seconds.The device LED will turn on for 20seconds. The next step must beperformed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL 5] button. The deviceLED will blink.

STEP3 Press the [DEVICE] button correspondingto the device that you would like thevolume and mute buttons to control. Thedevice LED will blink twice to confirm theprogramming.

Example : If you wish to have the volume andmute keys operate your Cable Box,press the [CBL] button in Step3.

By default, the CH5, CH6, NUMERIC and LAST keysoperate through your Cable Box. If you would likethose keys to operate those functions on a differentdevice, follow these steps.

STEP1 Press the [OK/SEL] button and [CBL]button simultaneously for three seconds.The device LED will turn on for 20

seconds. The next step must beperformed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL 6] button. The device LEDwill blink.

STEP3 Press the [TV] button. The device LEDwill blink twice to confirm theprogramming.

*Note : If you wish to have the channel keysoperate your Cable Box, press the [CBL]button instead of the [TV] button in Step 3.

J.J. Assigning the DVAssigning the DV DD-- VV OD keys toOD keys tocontrol your DVD control your DVD

By default, the REW, Play, FF, Record, Stop andPause keys operate VOD (Video On Demand)through your Cable Box. If you would like thosekeys to operate those functions on your DVD,press the PLAY button for 3 seconds until the DVDbutton lights. To return to your Cable Box control,press the PLAY key again for 3 seconds until theCBL button lights.

K. K. Low Battery WarningLow Battery WarningWhen the battery is low (2.3V-2.0V) and needs to bereplaced with fresh batteries, device LED will blink 2times in sequence whenever a [DEVICE] button ispressed to turn on equipment.

L. L. Memory Lock System.Memory Lock System.This remote control is designed to retainprogrammed memory for 10 years — even afterbatteries are removed from the remote control.For additional information about your remotecontrol, go to www.universalremote.com

*Note : For TV/DVD combination units, Pleaseuse following steps to operate the volumecontrol.

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button and the [OK/SEL]button simultaneously for 3 seconds. Thedevice LED will turn on for 20 seconds.The next step must be performed whilethe LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL5] button.

STEP3 Press the [DVD] button. The CBL deviceLED will blink twice to confirm theprogramming.
